are the rear speakers wireless?

I bought the HTRT 40 sound system late last year and when we installed it it the subwoofer came up with UPDT on the screen instead of the normal navigation options. Over the last 12 months Sony had me take it to their approved repaires 3 times and it's still not fixed. Now Sony wants me to pay to have it diagnosed. Since the unit didn't work from the first day I don't feel I should be changed. Has anyone had this issue and what should I do?
