Very comfortable, stylish, excellent on and off road driving, make sure the Dealership servicing the car knows what they are doing. Ssangyong Aust. Head Office (Sydney) did'nt want to know about it cause the warranty had run out..??
Value for New 4X4 vehicle, comfortable on and off road, spacious.
had the car for nearly 3 1/2 years 150000 km. when the lack of knowledge from Dealership stripped the threading of all 5 glow plugs, I was told $6500 to replace cylinder head, and would have to wait 6 weeks for delivery. I sent the head to local Mercedes workshop, and was repaired for $2100. So if ya want spares for any of Ssangyong vehicles be prepared to pay big bucks and have the car OFF the road for long period of time.

Apparently parent company in receivership in Korea. Future looking very shaky. Explains lack of resale I suppose. It's not pretty so a lot of people wont look past that.
Seemed like good value
Heavy on Fuel. Went to trade it in and other dealers who dint want to know about it. Ssangyong dealer wouldn't buy it back at any price.
The fact that I paid so much for a service is a turnoff. $333.00 in Parts $222.55 for oil. Then on top of that Labour. I think next time I will go back to Toyota and save money
My Rexton has done 60,000 kms of service in just 2 years. Great wagon for both on and off road conditions
The fact diesel is so expensive in Australia detracts from its economy. And I have just had a 60,000 km service done. I don't know if all dealers charge the same but in Blackforest SA I paid a small fortune. I brought a Ssangyong not a Mercedes.
I had my Rex written off by the insurance company recently because the cost of the replacement engine from Ssangyong was $54000! The water that destroyed my vehicle wasn't even above the sidesteps but the wake of a truck coming in the opposite direction caused the damage! BE AWARE!!!
WAS a nice car to drive.
Be careful - very careful! The air intake for this car is just above the bumper at the front of the vehicle - not good for going through water!

Know better, choose better.
Do not oreder Prism Blue colour, won't get it! And don't trust dealers, they hardly have a clue what the car is all about. Some claim they haven't seen a LTD in their live! Frustrating lack of coordination between dealers, distributors and importers. Do your own research, thanks God, there is internet! Make sure you know what you want prior to visit a dealership...
Otherwise, the car is great,it beats the Patrol, Prado, etc. it's full of equipment and much cheaper! Despite some negative reviews on the net (most are for the 2.9L model though)tr...

I did not pay A$90k to A$140k or better I would rather buy Real Estate {appreciating asset}. Paying A$45k being suprised at the robust handling, hauling and good fuel economy. Yes I'am happy But ask me at 100k!
This car is loungeroom like nice and quiet good sound system when you choose. A No rush drive, but if you need to feed a little speed to your ride push your foot down and the TURBO TURBO's just the right amount of notes, if its not buy a Turbo XR6! I prefer in the summer and winter to have the windows down at varying degrees so I was h...
Read moreappy to option thin weather sheilds {air comes in at reduced noise levels and assists other ventilation}.The set and forget A/C is brilliant when required. My best option was a Parkside towbar, I know this 5By5 with the tiptronic box will pull the skin off a rice pudding but did not want to be let down by a sub standard hitch. I tow a decent trailer and I expect my ride to behave, I will pass `B' Trains and log trucks but I like To get a nice run up and know the four wheel disc brakes and ABS will be my back up if I miss Time. {Rare event Now!!} The Euro feel is good wuntzthedumassiefiggersitout the 255 16 alloys are industrial but work. I prefer 275 18 alloys more up market {AMG} or better for highway and put a Pedders lift kit and some serious offroad duellers when you take your family to Gove and a snorkel if the Rivers are up. The Roof Rails seem to be industrial but are not supplied with cross bars which is good because the your local RHINO-RACK shop will have sports cross bars for surfers and neat luggage carriers AT1510S*. But realy if you are going to Gove or similiar get the jerry can holder and carry an empty 20 liter jerry, you might not need it as your ride does 30 to the gallon or 9 to the hundred, obviously if your towing a trailer or you took the three fat sisters it could be less. The large tall rear area in the back is incredibley useful oncce you take out all the cargo nets and rollout covers, stow them they will be useful one day. I roll the passenger seat forward chuck in a few Real Estate signs and my toolbox my Wellies and if the wifes not looking my Rollies and a Toddie. I sell farms so thats why I like an all weather all condition vehicle that rides like a lounge chair and has a bit of grunt the Mercedes influence is there with a landrover clone and having Ssang Yong Roadside assist is OK too. If you want a 7 seater buy a landcruiser. Grill cross beams to far apart allows bugs to collide with intercooler, tranmission cooling fins {After market mesh I think chrome or Candy apple red}. Driver ability to judge distance of front bumper to wall or parking posts. I feel an after market nudge bar thats airbag compatible like the Merc ML 270 is the go I like the SMART BAR Outfront bar BUT Russel and Ben are to busy to get a Rexton bar acredited . The Centre console is a bit small could be a lot larger and more useful if the Auto Shifter is column mounted. I would have bought a 320 if it could have been gassed {LPG}

Hi brothers
My car ssangyong rexton model 2005 is running only in one gear for the last two weeks and doesn't shift the gear. Please some body advise me?
Hey I've got a 2004 rexton with a starting problem. Have to jump or aero start everytime even if it's been turned off for a second. Had the glow plugs and relay done, took it to ssangyong dealership, put their computer on it and nothing relevant to the problem comes up. Replaced the fuel pump and even tried one that auto pumps still nothing. Can't see any leaks or anything to make it lose fuel pressure. Anyone with the same problem or any ideas? Tia
I have a musso with the 2.9 engine, the same as the rexton 290. the rextons changed engines from a 290 to a 270 around 2004, so unsure if we have the same engine. It does sound like an air leak since ...
Read morethe problem doesn’t go away when the engine is warm. But your extra fuel pump should have fixed that. Its not a battery problem is it? It’s got plenty of crank? And once it’s running it’s fine?Yeah mines a 270. Maybe it's a leak further down then coz everything closer to the top is fine. And yes perfect when running and the battery is new.
water leak on top of tranmission near back of motor
