Direct Drive Turntable let down by poor choice of external materials
I purchased this 3 speed (331/3, 45 and 78) full manual USB direct drive turntable in 2009. My intention was to convert my vinyl into a digital format but the time required to do this meant that I abandoned the job also immediately. The turntable plays vinyl well and software and USB cable was provided for creating CDs. There is no hard cover to protect the equipment but there is a cloth protector that raps over the turntable to protect it from dust.

e dots, pitch slider, pitch select, phono/line output, phono/line switch, USB socket and digital output. My biggest gripe is the rubber material which surrounds the base. It started decomposing after only a few years. It is sticky to touch and attracts unnecessary dust. It is uncomfortable to move because of the stickiness. Anything loose gets stuck on it. Gibson, the manufacturer, have suggested that I use 99% isopropyl alcohol (much stronger than that found at a pharmacy) to clean this material. They suggested that I apply with a lint-free applicator, and rub very gently so not to remove paint, markings, etc. They also mention that it is best to apply this remedy in a couple of applications, rather than a single treatment. I have done this but the tackiness cannot be totally removed. It is a design flaw and for this reason I cannot recommend this product.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Hi Deb
The main reason I purchased this turntable was to convert my vinyl to MP3. I do not use it as my regular playing unit nor have I used it as a DJ. I have connected the turntable via a pre amp to my sound system and it sounds good but I must confess I use another older system to play my vinyl. I use it occasionally but always seem to revert back to my older systems.
The tone arm detaches easily by unscrewing and the stylus slides out easily for replacement. The cartridge is a Stanton 500 V3. The replacement stylus is the N500 which is diamond.
Please note that turntable does not have a cue lever so a steady hand is required. My biggest issue was the external material that become very sticky making it difficult to use and move. The stickiness also attracted dust. It was such a big hassle that I rarely use it now.
