unbelievable drive
the car is a smooth drive with minimal noise even on the highway. The internal space is huge with plenty of legroom. The look and the feel of the dashboard and interior looks luxurious.
The cost of fuel is a bit expensive - usually put in unleaded 958 (recommended minimum) and it does go through quite quickly

Great Family SUV
Ample Space, Rich Looks, Great Ride, fantastic road grip, can go on and on and on. Symmetrical 4WD is just awesome and you cannot question Subaru's eye to safety. The Eye sight and lane departure features are cool additions. Great sound system and excellent leather quality used for seats.
Now why 4 stars then - Dashboard looks quite basic, their inbuilt entertainment system is supposed to be playing video files as well but none of their technicians could make it work

Great family car
Highly recommend this car, it's a pleasure to drive. Leather seats feel luxurious, with power seat adjustments. We took it to the snow and it was very comfortable and quiet, lots of power, plenty of room for skis on the roof, plenty of room for luggage and skit boots, and the front seats are heated. Did our research and you get a lot of premium features for the price.

SUV? Wagon? This is OUTBACK a true Utility vehicle
I bought this car for my sister who needs car with a good driving position and a decent space at a reasonable price we initially wanted to buy Nissan dualis or Renault Koleos but ended up buying this beautiful car and we are so happy with our decision. This car is probably the most spacious in its segment and my first impression was like 'WOW' when I was sitting at the back it was so much more comfortable than other car in this category such as Tiguan, Dualis, Q5, Asx and Koleos
Infortaimemnt system would be a downfall for this car though com...Read more
paring to the other European cars but it still offers all the bells and whistles even though it is a basic model( a basic model still comes with lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, emergency stop etc... thanks to Eyesight) I think this is a perfect family car and the most underrated car on the market

Good Car, just high service cost
I have 2012 Subaru Outback 2.5i premium automatic CVT from new, and running well until now. But the service cost is high, and need two services each year. The GPS satellite navigation also got maps out of date, but the map upgrade cost also high. The fuel is around 10.5L per 100km, not too bad.

Best car - luxurious, efficient and very easy to drive - not happy with the Head Unit
I have the MY16 Outback 2.0D Premium and it is luxurious, comfortable to ride in (back seat as well) and so easy to drive. My favourite features are the assisted cruise, auto high beam, collision warning/prevention, blind spot indicator light, heated and electric seats with memory...the list goes on. I love all the storage, the roof racks and the seats fold up and down so easily with an auto lever conveniently located in the boot as well. It is a fuel efficient and problem free car - I've had no issues at all except for the navigation maps and ...Read more
Head Unit. The luxury in it is similar to what we've seen in our friend's new Mercedes Coupe, so in terms of value for money, you can't beat it. ****UPDATE JULY 2018****** Unable to mirror my Smartphone and GPS on the vehicle's Head Unit because Subaru de-licensed the program on it called "Mirrorlink" in Jan 2018. When asked at Subaru's Service Centre, the staff advised there is no fix or patch for this and there are no updates available for the vehicle's own navigational maps which are well out of date. I am really unhappy with this response as I believe since the vehicle is still under warranty, it should be capable of mirroring a smartphone. I will be escalating this with Subaru. Also, the servicing is really expensive. As follows: Scheduled Service Interval 2.5i, 2.5i Premium 3.6R Premium 2.0D Premium 'A' Service 6 months or 12,500kms $311.74 $343.45 $312.60 'B' ServiceSimilar opinion? Clutch not designed for 'steep driveways'!! Not recommended as a family car.
We bought a Subaru Outback in 2015 to get our family to sport, band and holidays to see the grandparents. The clutch has had to be replaced twice in two years - the first time at 31000km, and now at 67000km. The dealer asked if we live on a steep driveway! Isn't this car supposed to be an all-terrain vehicle?

Great Car
This is my fourth Subaru over a 18yr period, two Foresters & now on my second Outback. I test drove a lot of different SUV’s & did a lot of research, thinking it may be time to move onto another brand.
I was able to eliminate all the diesel models partly for the interior noise levels & the other factor being the dpf (diesel partical filter problems) as I do a mix of short trips & long trips, short trips not being good for a diesel.
Our previous Outback 2013 model with 2.5 motor was a great car & after reading motoring reviews on the new mode...Read more

Fantastic
Great to drive, plenty of room and comfort. .elegant easy to see and use dash and controls . doesn't look like a spaceship from another galaxy like many other SUV's. Expensive servicing, every 6months other makes are 12 months .excellent fuel economy 6.7 litres per 100km .this is my 3rd outback and first new one (2015) . an outback in 2000 cost around $40,000 today you pay less with all the Improvements and new tech . adaptive cruise control is wonderful, I can knit a jumper while driving up the coast (only joking)

brilliant
Nice cars to drive both on and off road. Dislike where the car aerial is if you break the rear window its costly. Getting around 700-800km out of 45l tank its awesome. Love my Subaru, they all have there good and bad points just like any car, its personal preference. A lot of people say the 2.5l are sluggish on hills iv never had a problem with hills like I did in my 3.2l v6 holden jackaroo, it was a pig at hills.

Just love it
Handling on this car is superb, great handling on snow, dirt, mud and the road.
The interior is great, all leather options, easy to find, easy to use, everything is right at the drivers touch. Both sunroofs are great. Legroom in the front is great, for the longer legged people leg space in the back is mediocre.
Climate controlled heater/air conditioner which automatically senses where it needs to go and you can manually override it if you need to.
Middle seatbelt in the back is not great, it is a unique style being pulled from the roof lining.
Average of 10 litres per 100Kms which is great for a 3 litre petrol engine.

Sturdy but has weak points
2010 outback six speed diesel.
Great long distance car absolutely amazing fuel economy consistent 4.6/4.8l per 100kms. consistent over 60,000kms of travel.
Inherent design flaw based on 1st gear not low enough under weight, towing or steep hill. Once you are going its fine but between 1st and 2nd gear up hill the ratios are too far apart to be happy.
The electric hill start brake activates based upon an arbitrary incline angle. Situations change based on the degree of incline so you wont know if and when the hill start will activate..or not.

Problems with city driving
Dpf light goes to flashing as soon as oil dilution level gets to 10% which requires oil change and reset the sensor ($220). This happened within 2000 kms of similar problem caused by perforated hose ($995) while still under warranty and having only done 64000 kms, with a lot of long kms as well. Apparently I'm driving the car too gently. I was advised to push it harder and take off at lights a bit harder. Not happy.

still taking up the case with subaru who have responded by saying that the car is ONLY suitable for longer distances and higher loads.
Unfortunately i was not made aware of this when i purchased the car.

All the bells and whistles
A beautiful car to drive, smooth, easy and quiet. The cruise feature is excellent if not a little space age. The car drives and brakes itself. Lots of room inside front and back. I especially like the electric controls for adjusting the seat and I love the seat warmer excellent for a bad back. Average running costs, however services are expensive.
The only problem I've come across is now and again I can't gain access to my car. It is keyless using a hand print and it simple doesn't work, frustrating but eventually it gives in. A lovely car that I love but I wouldn't get a keyless car again.

Great all round family car
I've had the car coming up about a year. It's been a great daily driver. Boot is plenty for a family of 4. Back seats have plenty of room and so do the front. Engine is adequate for every day drivingand returns 8.5ltr per 100km in suburban driving. Eye sight is a breath of fresh air and I'm thankful for buying a car with it.
Sound system could be better other than that it's a good reliable buy.
The only vehicle that i could see coming close to this would be a kia sportage in diesel form.

Never again...
I will never buy a Subaru again. Since day 1 the car has had a terrible hick up and every service we have complained about it, and every service all we get is the computer didn't pick up any problems..grrrr had the car almost 2 years now and it's getting worse and worse...are they just hoping nothing will happen before the warranty runs out. Also we were not told the diesel outback was not for short distance driving...now the warning light comes on all the time because we are not driving far enough every day for the car to do its burn...so every 3 months it costs us an extra $300 to get the stupid light turned off and new oil put in. Not happy jan...over the service and dealers. Never again.

Highly recommended
When I looked for my new car two years ago, my criteria were: brand with history of reliability, functionality to suit my need, the style, comfort and the running cost. The Subaru outback (Premier 2.5i) gave me all that and more. The seat can be set higher than expected to get a better view of the traffic, the car felt very sturdy and handled very well and the fuel economy was better than expected (around 7.5 km/100L) on 95 oct and mostly suburban driving. The Intellect driving mode gave me smooth, quiet and comfortable ride and the Sport mode ...Read more
gave me that extra kick on rough terrains and on slippery surfaces with ease. This car can accommodate bulky items if you fold the back seats forward and the leg room at the back seats are very generous. I used it to tow my fully loaded trailer frequently with ease. The dealer gave me a fixed cost services ($310) for 10 years. After two years, the engine always starts first go and humming quietly and reliably. The Eye sight gives me that extra security. Some minor issues are loose nuts and interior fittings but sorted by the dealer. I don't like the auto engine stop for the saving on fuel was negligible and the Sat Nav map was out of date when I bought it. Apart from the petrol and 6 monthly services, I haven't spent a cent.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I love this car
I have the premium model which along with leather seats and sunroof has a few extras which are great to have. So far the car handles perfectly and would be my choice for people looking at a reliable car at this price range. Have previously had a Subaru Forester and was happy with the engine over time so not expecting any issues there.

Whilst it was a very good car, I have since sold it .... CVT auto transmission just annoyed the crap out of me in the end .... No defined gears, found engine to be very underpowered.... Vague steering and no feel.... However very well built vehicle
