Once you go Subaru, you never go back
The performance is Great, the version gets a huge technical upgrade, I love the tech features.
Eyesight is very clever safety feature, it can literally auto brake to avoid an accident if you ignore the first warnings (it beeps and the dash LED's flash Red when usually blue).
Adaptive Cruise control keeps to the speed you set with a very fine tolerance both accelerating & braking as required. Auto stop saves me about 1.1litre of petrol per cumulative hour stopped at lights (approx per tank of fuel). Keyless entry is very handy, The roof rack d...Read more
esign is clever (folds away when not required). I don't like the auto boot opener (It would be quicker to open it yourself). It is possibly a little under-powered for the occasional foot plant, but I'm happy to forgo that for the everyday economy & the surety all wheel drive gives you on the road. Otherwise a very capable car, Thrilled with it overall. Happy to be back in a Subaru.

The Perfect All-rounder!
The AWD system on the Subaru Outback is excellent, the eyesight system is amazing, especially on long haul drives. The cargo space is much better than the Forester. The 2.0L Diesel motor from Subaru gets you around 700kms a tank, which is great. X-mode on the Subaru Outback is another awesome feature when going offroad.

Great car, very solid
I bought this car second hand, and have found it to be a great reliable car which is very solid, unfortunately it had previously been involved in an accident with a truck which collided with the drivers door, however to it's credit only the door was damaged, there was no ripples or any other damage to other parts of the body, a door from the wreckers had it back to as good as new. a very solid and reliable car

Best all round car.
I love my Subaru Outback diesel. It's easy to achieve 6L per 100ks. It's about $60 to fill the tank and I get about 1000ks out of the tank with my mostly highway driving. I have taken the car off road and never had a problem getting where I need to go. My favourite feature is the adaptive cruise control. With all the highway driving I do it's the best thing ever!! I've done 45,000ks and the tyre still have half the tread left. The only issue I've had was the 12v socket needed to be replaced and was done so free under warranty. The service cost is about $400 every 6 months they clean the car and give me a free loaner. Great service at crossroads Subaru in Glendale.

Great car
There's a little bit of deadness around centre steering wheel which is great for offroading. This car has so much grip on the loose dirt, it's amazing. The torque figures are great and makes going up hills or over small banks (under 30 cm for ride height) excellent. The AWD is a load of fun. Inside comfort is great, as good as I've ever had. The clutch is of decent weighting, not too heavy but not light either - about the same as a Commodore or Camry.
Glad I bought it

Solid vehicle
Great car, extremely well built.
You don't realise how poor some cars are bolted together until you drive a Subaru.
Not the most powerful cars or the most efficient however they are a rugged design.
Bought Outback after Forester became too small.
Would definitely buy another, pity they no longer have frameless doors.

Excellent family car
Bought an outback for the extra space after I had my 2nd child. Lots of room in the boot to fit all baby items when going to holidays. Plenty of room for the front passemger even with rear facing car seat in the back.
Very smooth to drive and during gear changes. Lots of safety features keep the family safe eg. Lane departure. Decent on petrol around town amd excellent on the highway.

Subaru outback 2016
The performance is good, and this version gets more technical staff.
Eyesight is pretty smart, and can improve safety. it can auto start/stop to avoid accident. Usually I set the speed for 60Km, and then follow the car in front of me. it'll keep the proper speed to make sure no over speeding.

Good four wheel drive
Good medium to large size SUV FWD! steering wheel is a bit heavy to drive for me (Female) but when i make turn it's so smooth and stable. so different feeling from 2 wheel drive tiguan my first car. Leather seats feel nice and comfortable. it gets a bit sticky when it's hot weather. pretty quiet to drive, sometime you hear sounds of gear changing which is not bad. iSight function is really smart and easy to use. When you cruise drive, it automatically reduce speed if front of car is too close to your car. you can set the distance between cars. ...Read more
Inside is really spacious, i love automatic seat adjustment for front seat. Trunk is very spacious. i dont really like the touch screen dash board, it's annoying to use it while you drive not user friendly. GPS map is useless, we use Google map instead of it because it always show us longer direction than google map. I have to update this GPS system every 3 years with $300 plus with my own cost. If i have a choice i want to get rid of it and not wasting money to update it every three year. Overall cost wise, automatic sensors, heat seats, iSight, leather seat etc.. i am pretty happy with this car!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Fantastic AWD vechile
I find the new Subaru Outback (Premium 2.5lt) at the mid 40k price point very very hard if not impossible to beat when all other manufacturers are stacked up against it.
Like so many others on this forum i found that this vechile with its technology and 5 star safety systems was miles ahead of the competion and build quality is second to none.
Compliant comfortable frugal on fuel and abundant space i challenge anyone looking for a practical stylish safe and above all reliable AWD SUV to do better.
FANTASTIC CAR !!!

How much better can an affordable car get???
This is my 4th Subaru and without any doubt the best one yet. This 2017 2.5i Premium replaces a 2007 Outback which I had always thought was a great car. The new one is 10years of development on and so much better than the old. The wider body and the slightly higher ride make for a very comfortable driving position, as do the seats and the general ergonomics of the car. The wagon body offers a huge amount of space compared to other SUV styles and brands around this price point.
On the safety side, the excellent Eyesight system fitted to most S...Read more

Best Subaru Ever By Far
I have driven Subaru's since 2001. They have always had something special about them, but I noticed over time other brands had not only caught up but were exceeding the Subaru on most levels. Seeing the newly designed Outback, I had expectations of a small improvement over previous generations. Boy was I wrong! This generation is such a big change in every way. The quality of build, the quietness in the cabin, the safety features, the entertainment system, everything is automatic and you are now even warned when your washer fluid is low. I am not saying the Subaru is more advanced than other cars, it has just finally caught up in one big leap. I love this car and think it's the first one I will hang on to for quite some time. 5 Stars.

So much better than expected
Could not ask for anything more from my Outback. Upgraded from a Liberty Wagon and the difference has been night and day. I loved the ride and feel of my Liberty, but it doesn't hold a candle to the smooth, consistent ride in the Outback. Adaptive Cruise Control is amazing, and it drives like a car of much smaller size. Engine has enough power to do what it needs to. Overall I really couldn't recommend it enough - so happy with my purchase.

Great Car, Smooth Driving
The driving experience is great, smooth on the roads, very spacious interior. My model with leather seats which are incredibly comfortable. The steering isn't heavy for long distance driving and traffic don't bother me. Only problem I can name is all the safety guards, for lane changing, etc. This means constant alarms are going off to tell you these things, which can be distracting while you are driving. Fuel efficiency is great and I only fuel up about once a week, on regular work week, with a medium amount of driving. Overall, nice interior, good cost, great driving. Insurance is high but that was expected.

We love our Outback
We chose the Outback for the space and its capability on country roads. Purchased new in Nov 2016 we were aware that some people have labelled the 6 cylinder model a bit thirsty, but we are delighted with the fuel consumption - much better than expected on our month-long road trip around Victoria & South Australia. The vehicle's comfort and power has exceeded our expectations. We would recommend this vehicle to anyone that wants to explore the country in comfort with confidence.

Dash noises vent issues quick fix
One of the few problem with the 05 Subs is a vent actuator problem that starts as a fluttering noise when you turn your car off, then later buzzing noise by which time you can't select demist or foot mode-Unhinge glove box after pulling off door side cover, unhook thread, pull out two top book boxes above glove compartment-will take wiggling and you'll hear and see the vent actuator motor behind and to the centre that can be lubricated or removed- you don't have to remove the dash!

Fantastic car!!!
Steering is light and car handles very well with AWD. Quiet and smooth on all accounts. Standard fuel efficiency and a neat interior although the roof lining is cream in colour and gets dirty very easily. A fantastic family car and head out and about to any terrain. Can be upgraded with 2017 technology for a small fee to include Bluetooth etc. The Sat Nav is excellent and still is great to use.

Perfect for growing family and trips
Bought my Subaru Outback 3.6R Premium brand new in 2015. The engine is powerful without being heavy on fuel, I get an average economy of 9.0L/100k with mix of highway and city driving (60/40), obviously this will depend on lot of other factors for many.
Love the space especially for our family trips. The car is packed with safety features and the constant AWD boosts confidence while driving in wet conditions.
The only thing i hate is the way the headrests are placed on the driver and passenger seats. They are almost pointing downwards and don't suit me being used to seating straight. But that is an issue for me and may not be for others.
Overall a very well built, reliable and safe car.
