Important Features I did not realise before my purchase. I thought Subarus Were better.
I Purchased a staff used 2018 Subaru XV with 10,000 km on the clock from a subaru dealer in Rosebery. After the horrible sales service from the Roseberry dealer. I noticed the XV that sells for $40,000.00 New that it does not have some very important features that probably would have made me look at other brands if I had known.
-Does not have Auto Door Lock feature that comes standard in most cars these days. Even A cheap 2016 Kia I was using for work had this.
-Can not permanently disable auto stop/start this feature is only put into cars to...Read more
help the manufactures reach emission tests and the system will not stay off it resets to ON when you start the car again. It puts serious wear and tear on the car and saves very little petrol. - Mirrors have an electric folding function however unlike most cars in this price segment they will not fold automatically when the car locks. Even the Mitsubishi ASX and VW Golf have his why does Subaru think no one wants it or cuts it to save costs. - When on phone calls using the bluetooth system it blocks out the electronic speedo (very annoying) when your trying to watch ur speed.Purchased in August 2021 at Suttons for $35,000.00.

Love this car
After driving so many SUV vehicles and weighing up vehicle features, cost and best value for money the XV wins hands down. We purchased the top of the range for under $40,000 fitted with tow bar, roof racks, floor mats, alloy pedals and a few other accessories. It’s fitted with all the tech you’d find on vehicles worth $60,000. Do yourself a favour, take it for a drive and you leave the dealership with a contract signed for purchase. I am a Subaru convert and it will be hard to get me away from being a brand loyalist
Purchased in July 2021 at Key star Subaru Rothwell for $37,500.00.

Please think carefully before buying this car!
Huge disappointment about the quality of car including Subaru service! This is my second buying of this Subaru XV 2018, top of the range. On the first day of collection of car, it was found that there was a malfunction on touch screen on a entertainment unit and another major issue on air inlet vents. More precisely, when I closed the vents to prevent outside of air from coming into the cabin, but the air kept coming in and it was very unpleasant and all unwanted outside air was directly flowing into the car cabin.
Then, I raised the issue thro...Read more

Great little car
I needed a high wheel base vehicle. I bought a demo model that had all the safety tech. It is a smooth ride, my dad loves it, even my Euro car fan beloved loves it. I would like a little better fuel efficiency and the Carplay only works intermittently but otherwise I really like this car. Never had anything so new and hi tech!
Purchased in October 2021 for $34,800.00.

Multiple Paint Chips totally spoil an otherwise great little car
Within 6 months of purchase our new XV, I noticed a number of chips to the paint on the bonnet. I notified the dealer who referred it to The Technical Department of Subaru Australia. Without undertaking any testing (I specifically asked if any tests were done and was told in an email "no"), Subaru determined that the chips were caused by "outside influences" (as if that wasn't bleedin' obvious) and that there is no problem with the quality of the paint. This is despite many references on the internet to similar problems with the specific colou...Read more
r of Sunshine Orange. Check them out for yourself. Since then the number of chips have steadily increased (now 15) and spread to other areas of the car. Our car has never been driven on anything other than suburban roads and highways. Clearly we could now never risk taking it off road. It appears that the paint can't even handle normal suburban driving. Subaru appear untroubled by that. Hardly a vehicle of the "rugged character" were lead to believe it was when we bought it. Anyone else having similar problems?Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I Love my XV!
Ok, I’ve only had it a month but I love my new XV-S.
I bought it because it was the best value SUV in the my budget range ... the other contender was the Mazda CX3 which I thought was pretty unexceptional.
It is so smooth, no engine vibrations and drives nice and tightly on the road. It took a while to trust the Stop/start at traffic lights etc and to get used to the adaptive cruise control and some of the other features like the lane keep assist which are all quite new for me but it’s been easy to learn and integrate all the safety feat...Read more
ures into my driving. The interior is well appointed and comfortable and plenty of room in the back although the cargo area is not big. My only negative is that the radio cannot seem to pick up and tune in the radio stations accurately ... especially since my Mazda 2 had no problems and could pick them up loud and clear. I don’t listen to the radio very often but I’ve downloaded a radio tuning app to my phone and can very clearly get the radio stations now through Apple Carplay better and clearer than going through the Subaru radio.Purchased in October 2021.

6 months down the track and I still love it. I can fit my golf clubs and buggy in the boot and I guess thats pretty good! Radio still drifts in and out whereas it doesn't in the other car. It's my daily drive so already over 6K Kms. :-)

CVT not good
This car is great except for one MAJOR glaring fault. It has a CVT transmission which shudders and jerks in bumper to bumper situations (Sydney traffic) at low speeds, when the revs are between 1000 and 18000 rpm.
Not a comfortable driving situation. Seems like it is on the verge of stalling. If it wasn't for that extremely annoying trait this would be an excellent car. The problem is so bad I am going to sell it and NEVER buy another CVT transmission. Also - I have researched this issue and it is obvious it is not just my car but a design fault. American owners are requesting a recall or a lawsuit.

Great car - no regrets buying it
Okay I am not a car buff so I just wanted a comfy car that is safe and useful.
This is our main car - but I have kept my old Jazz as second car. (The Jazz has a bigger boot though)
Love the car very much and the eyesight safety is brilliant. So safe and this made it very cheap it insure - less than $500 comprehensive.
Love all the features, but wish the boot was as big as the Jazz.
Cost wise it was amazing value really. So pleased we bought it.

Great capable car
I guess you would call me a "car person", fussier than average, read the manual cover to cover, pedantic about servicing and have been over and under every part of the car. After a 1 years ownership of the New Global Platform Subaru XV I am more than happy. The crash avoidance system (Eyesight) alone is a good reason to buy this car, it could save your own or someone else's life. Mine reacted so quickly to a runner coming out between two cars and braked before I saw the person, excellent! Great auto cruise and even works well around town in bum...Read more
per to bumper traffic. Stop start can be disabled by putting a dummy trailer light connector in the lighting socket if you have a towbar fitted. I have towed a camper trailer for 400kms up hill and down with no power issues. I have back problems but the seats are comfortable on long trips and mine are the basic fabric ones. I have owned BMW's, Landrovers, Jaguars etc and have no issues with the handling or performance (for a 2 litre car). Economy wise with mainly city running I have averaged 8.3 litres per 100km (34 mpg imperial) and on the open road in the low 7's per 100km. The Android Auto is excellent allowing me to use Google Maps or Waze Maps on the large touch screen. Also texts are read aloud to me and I can respond easily. Google Voice searches and questions work well just like on the phone via a button on the steering wheel. Overdrive audio books work seamlessly along with Podcasts with the info coming up on the large screen. First service just completed cost $333 dollars under the service plan. Absolutely zero issues in the first year and remember I am fussy! Rear hatch space is a little restricted with the blind in place due to the full size spare tyre (some may say a fair trade off). Rear camera works well, ventilation system is good, visibility is great, dont hesitate buy one, I love it!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Plesantly surprised
Excellent dynamics
Good performance once you get used to the cvt's linear characteristics
Bullet proof engineering and quality
It's got enough power if you rev the happily revving engine
Don't pay too much attention to the critics about the power output being too low
Comfy and quite ride
Only criticism is the sound system being below expectations.

Shaking on low speeds
Hate this car! We were disappointed after 2 days of driving it. We just bought the 2018 Subaru XV and it shakes on low speeds. I always get stuck in traffic coming back from work and the whole 50 minutes I drive 20-30km/h. The car shakes and shudders the whole time and it feels that it's gone choke and stop. Hasn't fully stopped yet, though.
When we took it to the service we were told it's a software issue, they have an update for Impreza but not for XV. We were told to live with it until and if Subaru makes a software update for XV.
I don't recommend this car to anyone.

DO NOT BUY THIS CAR!!!!!!!
This car drives ok providing you do not drive under 40kms per hour. It stutters and shudders almost to the point of stopping. I have been told by Subaru that I need to modify my driving. After taking it back to Subaru many many times they haves said that it is a “characteristic” of the vehicle. Funny how they dont mention this in their shiny brochures. I drove a 2017 XV and loved it, but it appears that the 2018 release has this problem. I have found other 2018 owners and the problem is consistent with this model. Subaru do not have a fix - they admit it is a problem and basically we (and others) have been told to just live with it. NOT GOOD ENOUGH SUBARU!!!!!!! Fix it or give me (us) a refund...........

Great car but too much technology.
This review is for a 2018 Subaru XV-S bought in September 2017.
First up let me say we like this car. It handles well, it’s comfortable and very smooth, especially for a suv and has a very attractive interior with few hard plastics. Some might not like the orange contrast stitching, on the seats and dash, but we love it, but then again we have an orange car to complement it. My wife and I bought this model (S) because she has a bad back, and is the only one with the electric seat adjustment. We drove just about all vehicles in this class, and ...Read more

Best in its class
I had a choice of CX3 and XV. I test drove both the vehicles before buying the XV. I selected this car for it's technology and spacious interior.
The driving experience is far far better than Mazada CX3. The car packed with a lots of technology and safety features. Road noise is better than Mazada CX3.
Rarely I noticed that the engine struggles when try to accelerate at 7th gear (CVT). The boot is small but bigger than CX3. The front and rear autonomous braking and alert are amazing.
Dash board and interior are premium and built well.
Bought the optional 3 years extended warranty for ~AU$1600 for peace of mind.
Runs cheap and very much happy with the car.

Nice little car with heaps of safety gadgets.
Suburu xv MY18, owned it for a month now and quite satisfied with the performance.
Interior and exterior is top notch on S model.
Safety features and far better than the previous model.
Mileage is around 9, 10 litre per 100 km in city.
The interior dash is hard to clean as micro fiber cloth sticks to dash whilst cleaning, will be asking dealer what material to use to clean it.
