I bought the BM 4 weeks ago. I have tried several times with the basic recipes but no success, heavy and collapsed loaves as a result. I feel totally disappointed with the BM . I phoned several times but they tell me I am outside hours and I am calling at 1pm! I want to return this machine for failing to produce what it promises.

It’s a rubbish machine mate, I made the mistake of purchasing one as well and it was the biggest waste of money! I had the same problems you’re having right now.
I just took my machine back to the retailer and paid an extra $40 for a Panasonic SD-2501 And I swear I was amazed by the first life that came out of the machine it was absolutely perfect, trust me it’s not you it’s definitely the machine!!

HI, I have recently purchased the BM4500 and bought some premix online as the supermarkets are all sold out. Only problem is, there are no instructions, what else do I need to add to the premix e.g. improver, milk powder, salt etc (obviously water & yeast) and in what quantities. I have a grain mix & a white mix. Have messaged seller but no reply as yet. Thanks

I bought my machine 2 weeks ago & have made a few white loaves with varying success. I am now trying to make a multi-grain 1kg loaf using Menu 3 but nothing happens. I have tried unplugging the machine & resetting it but it sat for 20 mins & did nothing. Is this part of that cycle? Am I being impatient? In the end I gave up & tried the dough cycle & it works. I tried calling your toll-free support number but all I get is silence.

I have an older sunbeam model and it does take a while to kickstart.. Just walk away and leave.think it has to reach a certain temp before it begins kneading/mixing. I totally muffed my whole wheat loaf today... accidentally switched it off mid cycle! Am about to press bake after waiting a couple of hours. Good luck to us both!

BTW just read the sunbeam recipe for wholemeal loaf...it takes 30 mins before program begins

Hi Guys ... we purchased the BM4500 a few days ago and have made some really tasty loaves...

We are however having trouble with the buttons being unresponsive at times. Especially after a cook. Is it something to do with a lock out timer or a heat issue? Is anyone else having this problem?

Thanks

I have just put some ingredients into the Sunbeam Bakehouse automatic breadmaker, to make Ciabatta, but, as I am short, I accidentally leaned on the start button, and its now programmed to make bread (and it has started). All I want is dough and do not know how to cancel the programme, and reset it on dough. I have actually turned it off at the wall, as really it doesnt matter if the dough does stand for little bit, ..... but surely there is an easier way to cancel and go back to the menu!

Hello Barb KeanWilliams.
You are able to stop the programmed recipes at any time with the Start / Stop Button.

- Press to commence selected setting or begin timer countdown for delay timer. To stop the operation or cancel a timer setting, press and hold for 2-3 seconds to clear.

Hello Niek G.
There is a LCD Window which Displays the Menu setting, Crust colour, Loaf size and remaining time until the cycle is complete - '0:00'. see more about the setting in the product manual: https://www.sunbeam.com.au/Root/Specifications/InstructionBooklet/BM4500_17EM2.pdf

I can't believe the reviews I am reading here on this breadmaker. I haven't bought one yet to replace my Sunbeam which lasted without a beat for 10 years until it just died yesterday. If anyone wants to stick up for their Sunbeam or tell me to forget it, you are welcome. Mostly I would love to hear from Sunbeam about this product and why I should buy it!

Hello Christine,
The Sunbeam Bakehouse BM4500 has been a reliable product in our range since 2010 so you can only imagine how many we have sold and how many happy customers there are!

All our bread makers come with a 12 month warranty so you have plenty of time to really test out your unit.
All we ask from you is to follow the steps laid out in the manual and to give yourself sometime to understand how to use the machine correctly.
Happy Baking.

I've had mine for about 6 months and so far so good. I have used it many times in that time with good results. I have made sourdough, multi-grain, white and raison bread. I've also made banana bread in it as well which turned out nice. Very happy so far!

Hi Fran Pekin,
Thank you for contacting Sunbeam. The preheating is already programmed into each setting/cycle. The only time you can pre-program is the time delay. Kind Regards, Sunbeam

Hi, I have a BM4500 and use it regularly for making pizza dough with great results. But lately, there has been a black residue left on the dough where it has been in contact with the kneading blade/paddle. I'm worried that this is something toxic, and also it doesn't look at all nice. Any ideas what this is and how to fix it? Do I need a new blade, or even pan maybe? My unit is a few years old. Thanks!

Hi, after a few times of using, we put the too much water into a loaf and ended up with dough rising through the top of the machine. Now the fruit dispenser doesn't open fully so fruit is not dispensed unless I manually push it through. Is there any way to fix this?

My 4500 has not been producing the loaves it used to. NOw I have to remove 2Twater from recipes and more often than not I get loaves with sunken tops. Today after a normal potato bread recipe I find the product uncooked and more baking of 10-min stints still did not fix it. NOw the screen beeps EO1 even after I have turned it off at the wall. I am trying to find my Warranty as it is quite new.

I’ve had my Sunbeam Bakehouse BM4500 for just over a month. Loved it for the first few loaves however blade now dislodges on every bake and leaves grey/black residue marks throughout the bread. Given concerns about potential health affects if this residue was digested, I’ve had to throw every loaf out. Is dislodgement of the blade normal? When inserting it feels quite loose but it wasn’t like this I n the first few loaves. Help???

Hello :)
I just recently commented on this exact same issue! I even secured the blade in properly but it still leaves a black residue through the dough. I am not sure with your machine but with mine the blade is locked in correctly but seems to be scraping the black coating of the bottom of the tin. It also caused me to throw my bread loaves out multiple times also. And yes, this coating is dangerous to consume as it contains synthetic chemicals in the black coating which can have harmful effects on the body. I suppose it's not just my blade. It's possible that the blades could be faulty because it happens.

Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Lana C, If your blade is scraping the tin, you should return it to store for a replacement. Obviously it should not be doing that . It is normally a great little bread maker so hope we can resolve this for you.

After baking a loaf of bread or making dough how long before you can use the machine again? I am wanting to make two batches of pizza dough and have been waiting for over an hour to be able to make the second batch.

It should be ready to use straight away. It doesn’t need to cool as it’s only mixed and proved so you should be ready to go again within 5 minutes. I normally press the menu button briefly to make sure the settings haven’t changed and then start

Not sure what is happening with yours. I can usually bake a second loaf after leaving it cool down for 15 minutes. Just a tip though - are you leaving the lid up or down after you take out the first batch ? Obviously if you leave it down it will take longer to cool down.

The paddle in the bottom of our Bakehouse doesn't always stay upright and drops before mixing is complete resulting in a loaf that isn't a loaf at all, just an unmixed lump of ingredients. Any suggestions?

1 answer
Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi John V. Thanks for your question. It's hard to determine the exact issue with baking process from the above info. It's not necessarily an issue with the paddle, as this is programmed to drop at a certain stage of the process. There are a lot of variables that may be contributing to this, such as too much water, incorrect setting etc. Could you please call us on 1300 881 861 to conduct more thorough trouble shooting with one of our bread maker experts.

Is my BM4500 faulty? Whenever I follow the recipes saying to add ingredients to the fruit and nut dispenser (e.g. honey and oat bread p30) those ingredients are just thrown over the bread on one side and they don’t even stick to the top. I thought they were meant to be released earlier so that they would be inside the bread?

Never got that far Lance, I took mine back for a refund 3 loaves and three fails.

Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Lance, great to see you are getting maximum use from your breadmaker. Prior to putting the fruit in the dispenser rub it through about a tablespoon of flour in a plastic bag to lightly coat the fruit and nuts. Then add to the dispenser and this should stop the clumping and spread the fruit through the bread pretty evenly.
