Poor Product
We bought this mixer many years ago ( 2004 ), but have not used it very often. When used it had a burning smell coming from the motor, so my wife often used a different hand mixer. It was bought because it was like the Mix Masters of old and they had a rock solid reputation. This one certainly does not. Recently I attempted to use it, it trips the circuit safety switch ( RCD ). It has become time to throw this mixer of disappointment in the bin.
Purchased in September 2021 at Retrovision for $349.00.

Never buy Sunbeam again
Always had a Sunbeam mixmaster. Old one lasted for years. Have had 2 professionals in four years. Will never ever buy a Sunbeam again. The beater motor has gone in my latest one. Too expensive to fix.

Don't buy Sunbeam
Used the mixmaster twice when it started smoking. It was eventually replaced under guarantee. 5 months later it again started smoking. I wrote to Sunbeam and asked for it back and 6 months later I havn't heard a peep out of them. Don't recommend Sunbeam products. Now I just love my Kenwood
Inefficient (and possibly dangerous)

Replacement machine has been great
First machine was rubbish. The beaters did not mix in sync. They clashed together. Took it back, they swapped it and this machine has been going strong. I mix pizza dough, large quantities every week in it since 2006. About enough for 20 pizzas. And twice a year I mix for 90 pizzas. I also use it at least twice a week for cakes and pastries. Never needed any repairs. I guess I just the one lucky one that works. The dough hooks mix dough so much nicer and quicker that my kitchen aid . Good luck I hope you get one like mine.
Can mix bread and. Pizza dough in double batches easily
First machine came broken

Bad
I too put this on my wedding registry because my mother in law has an old one that keeps going and going and going. I have never been able to make a pav in this because the beaters strike each other.
Its heavy and consequently the handle on the top, although quite robust is about to fall off.
I now only use it to make pizza dough, it does this very well however you have to watch it or it will walk off the bench. Dont waste your money on this one, there must be better mixmasters out there for the price!
Looks good. Two bowls.

What has happened to Sunbeam? Give me back my old Mixmaster of 35 years and I certainly recommend that if you still have an old working model NEVER upgrade.
For this $545.00 model I would have expected much better. If there was a minus rating that is how I would rate this product
Absolutely nothing. I was sorry that I was talked into buying this product being the top of the Range 8500 - as the salesman had had two cheaper models returned. My MX1000, only a few years old, had stopped in the middle of cooking Christmas Cakes. When opened it was ...Read more

My mothers original Sunbeam mixer which she received 34 years ago as a wedding gift, still works! What happened SUNBEAM! NOT HAPPY, an overall very disappointing experience! Will be getting a Kitchen Aid when I get my money back.
Fits easily into Myer bag for returning!
Sunbeam have an online complaint form, which you can fill out!
Was promptly contacted by Sunbeam left a message saying the mixer shuts down after 15 minutes on high.
Would probably go through the kitchen window and sink straight to the bottom of the pool! (If the windows were...Read more

SO DISSAPOINTED IN SUNBEAM. I have always bought Sunbeam but never will again. I should have read reviews before I bought it. It looks like Sunbeam quality is no more. You pay a lot of money for something and expect to get quality and reliability. Failed.
Looks great.
Everything. Very noisy. Had trouble getting the beaters out and tilting the head up. Throws mixture out of the bowl. I've only used it half a dozen times since I bought it in October and now the bowl won't turn and and the dial gets hot and there's a burning smell as well as metal filings under the machine.

Worst appliance I've every purchased,
Purchased it as my mum has had her sunbeam for over 20 years - unfortunately the name is the only thing the same. If you're thinking of making a couple of pavlovas forget about it - it'll overheat before the first one is mixed and you'll still need to hand mix it anyway since the beaters don't mix properly.
It's sad how a company can use their once good name to sell such poor quality rubbish. At least as more and more customers are burnt by this and switch to their competitors, Sunbeam's profits will nose dive and hopefully wake them up befo...Read more

I shall consign this to the tip along with the cafe series blender, the cafe series food processor, the stainless steel banquet fry pan and the combination blender and food processor. I'll never be buying Sunbeam again. What has happened to what used to be a reliable company
Burnt out in the first week - Replaced under warranty. Speed control of the new machine never worked properly. Out of warrenty now. Gearbox broken. Beaters hit together even more that they used to and fall out. $500 down the drain.

Blew up! I so regret spending the almost $400.00 . . . wished I had gone the kitchenaid. I too bought this product based on my mother's one that just keeps going. I'll never buy a Sunbeam product again
Looks good
Motor that turned the bowl started to give out . . . usually at the crucial moment of making a pavlova!

Looks like the traditional mixmaster but performs pooly. The beaters ruin the dough when kneading and the product itself is generally very noisy.
None to think of

I choose this for my wedding gift list and I was really excited to use it but we took it out of the box and it had a huge scratch on it! It went back to Myers and took a few months to come into stock. Finally got the new one home and the first time I used it it blew up!! Waited several months for it to be replaced. Now I never use it as it's such a pain to scrape down the bowl every 20 seconds or so that I find it much easier to use my little old hand held beaters. My Mother in law has a sunbeam one which is about 35 yesrs old and much bette...Read more
r than this!! Very disappointed - don't waste your money. Looks great. 2 x stainless steel bowls Where do I start. Beaters only beat in middle of the bowl and not to the edge, so I have to scrape the bowl down ALL THE TIME. Got the spatula stuck in the beaters doing this and they bent and now need replacing!! Beaters are a little stiff to get in and out. Arm is stiff to swing up and down.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

My mum gave me a 1950's model sunbeam mixmaster and it was fantastic. Needdless to say it still worked and worked well. But then I tought I would upgrade. Big mistake. It is loud, only beats in the middle of the bowl which means you have to scrape the sides down. And because there is a motor that turns the bowl, I think it gets overworked with the scraping because mine cuts out when it gets too hot!
Looks great, sturdy metal construction
Too many to count

Expected a product that does what it is supposed to. Very disappointed and would not recommend. Only used maybe 5 times and it was the most expensive one in the shop at the time.
Looks solid
Burning smell after only ~15 minutes continuous mixing after which the motor that turns the bowl stopped. Beaters come off by themselves.

Worked for occasional use over 4 years, but began to have the above problems as soon as it was being used regularly (once per week). Won't be buying Sunbeam next time, especially as spare parts availabilty seems to be a problem noted by other reviewers.
Look good and sturdy, as other reviewers comment, but looks deceive
Stiff beater release, stiff tilter adjustment, spatters mix outside of bowl, noisy, failed after minimal use - cog driving beater failed, now unusuable.

ines for same recipe) very disappointing. Bought another cheap $100 from Sams warehouse similar to Kenwood chef design (do not like that one either)- it is great.I teach cooking at a school therefore I have the opportunity to purchase and test a wide range of products - however, disappointing when money wasted on a dud. plus poor adverting for manufacturers as many students get to try before buy.Similar opinion? The bowl stops because the gears are only plastic and have no substance. The product should be classed as an unsalable item and banned from being imported.
