What are the Turbo Diesel Grand Vitara's like. Do they suffer with reliability problems?

Hey Andrew,
I have a 2008 manual diesel and apart from the catalytic converter light coming on every so often after the engine had done 160000km and the placement of the oil filter its a great little 4x4 engine.
I installed a 9500 lb VRS steel cable winch, CB, 40MM Lift kit and heavy duty suspension from TJM CABOOLTURE. And a fully steel bull bar which is from ARB as they are the only ones who do the diesel version but was ordered by TJM all up around the 5 grand mark and about an extra 150kg on the front.
The diesel engine doesn't even realise it is there.

Hi I have a coolant leak from the rear of the engine on my 2008 Grand Vitara 1.9L turbo diesel. I have seen the coolant running down the the bell housing, all the hoses look good. I there a core plug in that area that has a leaking problem. This is a small but consistent leak. Any help? Thank you Patrick Brady.

Hi There, We purchased a BRAND NEW Vitara but needed to replace tyres after 20K because they have worn unevenly? Spoke to tyre man & he has said he has had quite a few people with the same issue, mentions problem with diff. Has anyone else had this happen?

Have you had a 4 wheel alignment done? If not I would get one done soon. If something is to far out of alignment they will tell you they cannot do the alignment. Then take the print out to the dealer. Hope this helps.

I have just purchased a 2013 grand vitara 4x4 Automatic 114,000 klicks, there is a slight whine noise coming from the gear box as I accelerate, more noticeable at low revs, is this normal?

I have a Grand Vitara 2015 model and have noticed the boot doesn't unlock when the drivers door is unlocked. If I want to put something in there I have to make sure doors are closed, lock the car and then unlock it again with a double click. Am I missing something? It has to be easier. Also can you open the boot with the key?

i have the 2013 grand vitara prestige so not sure if it is different but if you want all doors to open you click the button on the handle twice, (or the remote twice) same with the rear door if you click it once it will only open the rear door, if you click it twice it will open all doors :)....no you cant use a key in read door (unless it might be different to your model)

Hi I have a 2017 Vitara 1.4 turbo. When in park on slight slope with hand brake on, to open garage, I then hop back in slide shifter to drive, but it feels like it is under load, I feel this is not right, anyone else noticed this? Cheers Mike.

I have 2003 grand Vitara and the management system has a full memory and the light comes on and when rest it go's off for small amount of time. I have been told you can not clear the memory. So how do I get over this ?

Can I suggest you post on the Auszookers forum. They seem to have very knowledggable prople on board. I have seen figures that suggest there are 10% of vehicled driving with the check engine light on. From my experience this seems a bit low. You may have to bite the bullet and go to Suzuki. I'm not sure if it has a chain or belt. Mine is a 2.4 litre petrol model and it has a chain.
BE AWARE:- the 1.9 litre diesel motor in the Grand Vitara is a Renault motor and it is renowned for problems with the particulat filter clogging, which renders the motor useless until it is cleaned out. Short running around town will clog the filter in a matter of weeks. If you intend using the vehicle for longer highway runs, you won't find better....otherwise look for a petrol motor.

I have a Suzuki Grand Vitara prestige 2009 model . The condensation outlet is leaking into the car and not outside any suggestions on repairing it my passenger front side is soaking wet if I use air conditioner. Thanks

OMFG see a mechanic.
Your condensation overflow pipe is blocked. Its a simple fix. Its a small rubber piper overflow into the egine bay from the firewall of the engine. If you goggle it, there is a you tube video how to unblock it, using the wire of a coat hanger from underneith the vehicle. I did it very easy and simple fix. As its blocked the water flow back into the front passenger footwell down from under the glove box. Cheers cam

WE TOW a Suzuki behind our motorhome .......cant put Suzuki grand vitara 2013 JB into towing mode after investigating with a mate found no brake light thinking it might be brake pedal switch ....checked all fuses ok ....ordered a switch yesterday $40 so see how we go .... when I put it in tomorrow ......any one else had this issue?
