Excellent
Coming down from a V8 4wd, the inside and outside dimensions of the Jimny were smaller - but - that's fine. There is plenty of room for my gear. And while I have not had four adults in it I have had two adults and heavy luggage and the car did fine. If you turn the wheel too sharply while going around a corner in the wet - such as turning left or right from a stop sign - you May get some wheel spin and fishtailing. Simply push the 4wd button for a few seconds at the start of your trip in the wet and you'll have better traction. At 6'2" I see we...Read more
ll out of the window (without looking through the sun strip or needing to lower my head to look under the sun visors) and still have plenty of head room and leg room. I am able to see the bonnet as well - something a lot of Small cars don't allow, meaning in those you have to guess where the bonnet is, whereas in the Jimny you can see how close it is to things in front. The breaks work very well. The gears change smoothly. And the power windows and air conditioning don't seem to effect the fuel consumption all that much. The headlights - and high beam - are most impressive. And the car handles off the bitumen very well. After-market roof racks are available for the roof rails - from Supercheap Auto - and are Much cheaper than Genuine parts. Even though it is a 5 speed, the 5th gear's ratio is 1.0 instead of 0.8 as in most other five speeds. The 1.0 ratio is normally the ratio of 4th gear in other cars. This means slightly higher revving at speeds like 100kph, but the engine does Not strain and maintaining the speed up a hill is easy done. There is a slight rattle-type noise which comes from the engine you may have read about in other reviews. This noise goes after the first 1,000 service as the oil is changed and all loose things are tightened up. So far I've done over 17,000 kms since buying the car new and actually like it better than my previous fuel hungry Landrover Discovery. It's handling is most similar to that of a van (engine weight at front with light rear) and you Must drive it accordingly. Do not drive it like a sports car or sedan, but drive it like it should be driven, and you will not have any Issues with the handling. And remember above all other things when driving... when you drive you are in control of a Lethal Weapon - no matter how small or light it is - so drive accordingly and this baby will give you plenty of fun. I've even found some other Jimny drivers will wave to you when passing on the street - not all, but some. I would gladly buy this car again. Push buttons to go from 2wd to 4wd, good vision over the traffic in front, side mirrors are convex just enough to let you see wide on both sides of the car so there is no mirror-blind-spot. The fuel economy is excellent as I get from 13.5 to 14.5 kilometers per litre. Airbags. A/C Need to open driver's door to re-adjust the seat angle - but how often do you do this? So not really that big an issue. Reminder Beep when keys are in ignition with front door open and engine off.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Excellent
In general, amazing little car. Fun, lovable, loads of character. Its hard not to love this little beast. Its for those who want a cheap to run, fun to drive car that is different. It has a few issues, but you you chalk them down to 'quirks' then you're all set ;)
Extremely economical, tidy round corners (it, not you :P ) and amazing to park. The small size is really an asset. 4wd comes in handy in the wet, or if you just need more power, very easy to change between drive modes too. Also, the looks: fell in love the first time I saw it, and is ...Read more
a Legend among my circle of friends :P. Massive windows and fantastic mirrors mean sensational visibility, useful for parking (turn the electric mirrors straight down to get a good view of your wheels and the curb). And being high up makes it easier to get into. Cup Holders are everywhere. Engine size, can seem a bit gutless, Air con eats into the power quite substantially too. Back seats really seem to be more token seats, probably worth permanently folding them down and claiming that the car is a coupe. Cost, fuel efficiency makes up for it, but $21,000 is a bit steep considering some of the cheaper hatchbacks out there (although worth stomaching if you plan to bush-bash). Lastly, suspension is a bit stiff, but thats understandable for a 4wd. Also, can throw you around a bit due to the high center of gravity.
