Perfect fat free cooker
Excellent cooking product. I haven't had to buy oil in 6 months. Its the best chip fryer I have ever used and is so easy and quick. No mess and easy clean. Once you use it you will wonder how you lived with out it. It also cooks sausage in 10 mins, with a even browning,
Reliable. quick, fat free, easy clean
You have to watch how hot it gets. I wouldnt leave near small children.

Great product but definitely get an extended warranty
We bought the Tefal Actifry in 2008 and found it was great, until it broke down... Fortunately it was within the 1 year warranty, so we had it replaced... The second one also broke down within its year and was also replaced under warranty.. The third one lasted just over two years (we probably were bored of chips every 2nd day by then) and it too broke down, this time out of warranty... As it is a very useful product we recently replaced it ($250) and opted for an upgrade on the warranty to 5 years (Will definitely be worth the $50)... Definite...Read more
ly a useful tool in the kitchen and we use it at least a couple of times a week, it's just a pitty they are not more reliable. Makes low fat chips/wedges easily and without wasting oil Quite slow (30-40mins), breaks down, quite expensiveSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

The Actifry is one of the best appliances for my kitchen that I have purchased in a long time.
It uses only 1 spoonful of oil for 1 kilogram of chips, which is great for watching your fat intake.
The transparent lid makes it so easy to monitor the cooking progress of your food and the 60 minute timer allows you to set and forget. It cooks a variety of foods and the best thing is, it's a breeze to clean.
Ease of use and the health benefits.

I use it nearly everyday
I was using it to make chips, when I decided it was a pretty expensive chip maker. Though it does make fantastic chips, I wanted to try using it for other things. So I went on a mission to cook as many different things in it as I could. To my surprise it works incredibly well. From bacon on a Sunday morning to curries, fried chicken and meatballs. I never add oil, and basically made a rule that if I was going to get out a frying pan I must stop myself and use the actifry instead. I love the way there is no mess on the stove top and things c...Read more
ook incredibly even and quickly. I must say that if my actifry blew up as other people have mentioned, I would go straight out and buy another one. Hopefully the newer black version has ironed out some more of the quality issues that other people have had. No mess. Quick cooking Quality could be a little betterSimilar opinion? Broke only fifteen months after purchase!
Did what it was supposed to do and worked reasonably well until it broke. For the money you pay for one of these things you would think it would last longer than fifteen months. Very disappointed, would expect that from a cheap Chinese machine!
cooked with very little oil making things healthier
Way to expensive as it blew up fifteen months after purchase. Shoud last longer than that for price! Only just made it out of warranty period.

Under the new Australian Competition and Consumer Act 2010 they have to replace or refund even when out of warranty if the product has not lasted for a "reasonable" time. And they know it, so they usually DO look after you.

Not a Mother's Day Gift
Nothing wrong with the way it cooks chips. BUT only cooks enough for 2 at a time. Mum would be cheesed off if every time she cooked chips for a family with 2 kids she had to spend all the time peeling the spud, then drying them THEN about 80 minutes cooking them. She will be soon back buying a pack of frozen chips that she can put in the oven.

I use one of those push down cutters to cut the chips. Try to select the best 'chipping' spud, if possible. I never dry them or peel them. Seems tro make no difference. I do use a tad more fat though for cetter colouring. 20-30 mins tops.

Just incredible !
Chips are soooo crisp. Everything tastes just so great. Last night I had a BBQ and made roast potatoes & pumpkin & carrots. They were amazing. The roast potatoes were so crisp, everyone was wrapped. Should have made more! Loving this product. Use it daily for healthy stir fries. Also last night made caramelised bananas and put with ice cream. Delicious! Would highly recommend.
Reliable, quick, fat free or low fat cooking. Delicious outcome.
Zero at this point!

Fantastic but didn't last
I loved the Actifry, but the quality is an issue. First the filter surround broke (after a few months), but as it didn't affect operation I didn't replae it. The paddle then broke after about 18 months, and had to replace that. The clips on the lid broke after about 2 years, and the whole unit blew up (puff of smoke) after almost 3 years. I'm now wondering whether to replace with the same model (I loved it when it was going) or to try another brand. Would I recommend it? Not sure....
Fantastic for cooking oven fries, homemade chip and reheating cold chips

The best Kitchen item I have purchased
I saw this advertised on a Tv show. It promised almost fat free chips (3% fat) and it delivered with just a small spoonful of oil. I have since cooked fish, pork chicken and beef dishes that have all turned out fantastic.
A review of my weight afterwards proved that ni matter what you use it for there is no added weight.
Easy to clean!!! What a plus.
Cannot find a fault

Great for cooking low fat chips with almost no oil but expensive.
The Actifry is expensive for what it does but it does make great tasting fresh low fat chips using almost no oil (provided you follow the instructions). It also does a great job of cooking pre-packaged chips in next to no time. Apart from chips I've only tried using the Actifry to cook sausages and like the chips they tasted great. Given that it uses super heated air to cook it's really only suitable for cooking meat with a high moisture and fat content like sausages. You can do much the same thing with a much cheaper portable convection oven p...Read more
rovided you turn the food periodically but the Actifry has the advantage that the paddle turns the food for you enabling you to set it and forget it until the timer sounds to let you know the food is cooked. This brings me to the one feature I don't like about the Actifry namely that it doesn't turn itself off after the timer counts down to zero. You have to manually switch it off when you hear the beeps that tell you the set time has elapsed. Given the absence of automatic switch off it’s little wonder that there have been reports of motors burning out and units catching fire! If you forget it's on or something takes you away from the kitchen you had better remember that the Actifry is running because it will continue to operate at full power until you turn it off! I was so concerned about this issue that I purchased a digital timer with a countdown function that switches the power off when the timer counts down to zero. Tefal would do well to add auto switch off in the future for the sake of safety and for convenience. I'd recommend the Actifry as an easy convenient way to make low fat chips and for cooking a limited range of other foods but if price is an issue there are cheaper alternatives around that work almost as well. Cooks great tasting low fat chips. Expensive for what it does. No auto switch off.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent equipment but only last less then two years
We were very happy with Tefal Actifry...excellent chip cooker but for $320-00 that we paid for it in October 2009 it does not last long enough for value as the motor burned out too quickly. We enjoyed the no oil chips, now we have to purchase another expensive item as the price keeps going up. we expect it to at least last for another three years to get good value, so we are disappointed
efficient chip fryer- healthy eating
the equipment has 1 year and ten months life only - therefore the 12 month warranty...????

OK
Unfortunately the clips that broke also engage the on/off switch so we can't use it. Lucky for us they sold us extended warranty really cheap so we can hopefully get it fixed. It's just a bit poorly made in that respect. We love the chips that are produced. No matter what we do we can't get them really crispy but we like them anyway. I'm rating it down purely on the fact that the build is a bit flimsy in places.
It makes great chips. Can do other foods too. Easy and so little fat. An easy way to make healthy chips for the kids without having to crank up the whole oven or deep fry.
The little clips that hold the lid down have broken and we only bought it just over 12 months ago.

Excellent
good and easy to operate but with great delicacies as the body is quite unique and soft.
experiments can spoil the the utility i think follow the book as provided by the product.really can work wonders for those conscious of diet and fat oriented diets because it adds taste, flovour and health.overall the machine can wondersin toadys world where work is getting harder and diet is dependent of full fat based food outlets where v run for our all meals.dont go anywhere this machine gives an answer "no" to all fat based food industries.
the presentation of the product catches an eye.crisp potatoes, and low fat output
very delicate to use for tough items

Good product
Only had my Actifry a few weeks but am pleased with my purchase. The chips are just great and I have tried one of the chicken recipes from the included recipe book and also cooked sausages - all turned out great. The sausages really surprised me - they were large thick sausages - just prick them with a fork (as normal) and put in - it took 6 - and 15 minutes later, no turning, they were ready and tasted great ! Only trouble with this machine so far is being so new, I tend to watch the food cook - like seeing is believing !!! *lol*
I can understand how it could break easily - it doesnt seem to be very robust and it feels like it should be treated gently - so far though, so good.
Great food
Appears to be quite filmsy

Great chips, easy to use and clean
Ive used the actifry for frozen chips, baked potatoes, chicken nuggets, calamari rings, prawns and fish. The chips were fantastic, the prawns got a bit smashed up by the paddle and the calamari was a bit chewy but very tasty. Ive been using the cholesterol lowering margarine in it so I can have cholesterol reducing chips!
Chips taste great
Expensive, food gets smashed up by the paddle, slow
