OK for use
I have two Tefal non stick fry pans and they are brilliant, a quick wash, wipe out and they're clean. With the air fryer, its a pity that the non-stick is not as good as their fry pans. Its great for chips, but, I have found that any other oils etc will leave a hard to remove residue. So, its soaking so as not to damage the "non-stick" surface. Another thing I have noticed is that the rotating arm is not sealed at the bottom, this can allow "pieces" to lodge inside, and it does take time to remove the "pieces" when cleaning. If the arm bottom could be sealed, cleaning would be much better. In summary, a good piece of kitchen kit, be a lot better if the non-stick matched their "magic" frypans.

Tefal. I love your products, the Soup Maker particularly because it is made in France. I will not buy China made products and it's not about being racist, it's just I've had so many issues with their products, however, Tefal when someone complains about a product rather than send an animated message, why not be more personable and write the message to the buyer proper!!

wonderful way to cook
We Are very pleased with our purchase we use it almost every day.
Only one issue and that is the timer will not switch off the machine and perhaps the timer itself is not loud enough.
We prefer really crunchy chips and this cooker is perfect however we find that in most cases the recommended cooking time for "anything" is about 30% more than recommended.

this machine makes great chips and fried chicken, and almost any thing with paddle installed, i have never burnt anything in it since everything just spins around. any meat chopped up with marinade/sauce will come out perfect. how ever i would recommend not to put large bones or full chicken drum sticks inside since the paddle can snap, instead chop the ends off or peel them. paddles can be brought off eBay for $30aud
this air fryer is almost perfect in my opinion, how ever it fall short of 5 out of 5 because it can be hard to clean, food gets stuck in the paddle and the white plastic seems semi porous so it can not simply be wiped and looks pretty filthy eventually. in the end of the day i think this is a mans tool.

Makes good chips but needs improvements.
I have owned my tefal actifry for over a year. I do not use it regularly, sometimes once a month or once every 2 months.
It makes very nice crispy/crunchy chips when using frozen pre-packaged chips in 20 minutes.
however when making my own it takes longer (30 + minutes) and they don't crisp nicely like the prepackaged frozen kind.
Three major disadvantages:
1. I have found is that the machine does not turn itself off after the timer has finished/completed.
2. When transferring the cooked chips to a plate it can be tedious as you ca...Read more

ut them in the fridge for 20-30 minutes. This should product a crispier chip. In regards to the mixing paddle not locking in, this is incorrect. In all Tefal Actifry models the paddle does lock in. There is a grey lever in the middle of the paddle, this just needs to be pushed down to lock it into place. Hopefully you'll now find it easier to transfer the cooked chips in the future. In regards to the smashing up of chips, if you lock the paddle in correctly this should not occur. Love it
I love this machine, the paddle does not need to be used when cooking something larger, really good for vegies,
specially potato, put in raw. The only problem is with the paddle, I have had to buy 3. Otherwise I love using it.
Have used it for meatballs, chicken, vegies, etc. Whole dinners.

Do you really need this product ? Save your money for something you actually need.
Ok it's my own fault really and I have no one else to blame but myself. I had the original model for years and used it despite the fact that the lid broke off the machine months after purchase. Finally the centre piece shattered but did I just throw it away ? No, I stupidly purchased the newer larger model . I now use it for cooking chips only as the rest of the food cooked in it tastes boiled and boring ! If you have a kitchen at home you just don't need one of these, unlike me please be wise and think before you go out and spend a crazy amount of money on an item you will never use, worst decision I ever made. I regret not making use of the 30 day returns policy offered by Tefal at the time.

Not spend money and nerves
The size is not 'family' like it descriptive and does not operate as promised. Not have room and power for 1,5 kg of cooking. If you same time using top tray, actuator in loaded till mark lower pot is not have room for work and pushing food along the wall is all. The real cooking time is twice longer of written in brochure. Especially not useful for family with children.

Frustrating and Disappointing
I bought this yesterday and have attempted a few dishes and each and every one turned out chewed to bits. Chicken drumsticks, the coating and the chicken itself was destroyed. Tried chips, the potatoes were smashed. Tried a number of things and they all were broken up by the paddle.

Excellent - but only lasted 2.5 years
We used this 4 or 5 days per week for about 2.5 years . . so it did plenty of work. The lid broke and then the stirrer. Having read other reviews we decided to not buy replacement parts and instead by a new air fryer. It gave great service.

A good product for my use.
I was a bit doubtful when I first purchased the Actifry but it's turned out to be good for me. I've tried using commercial, packaged "oven ready" items [such as chips, wedges etc] and although SOMETIMES the 'crinkle cut' chips may not end up whole, I find it works well.
I like 'home made' "veggie" style chips and find that with the addition of just a little olive oil, the veggie chips turn out a treat, just what I want, lower fat, low salt and still delicious. Care is needed with 'pumpkin chips' as if the pumpkin is too ripe, the chips do not always stay in one piece.

Not getting on too well with it
I find the centre piece to be a nuisance, it messes up the food, maybe I am not using it properly but I am going according to instructions. I find it actually breaks up some of the food especially fish and burgers so I mostly use it for chips because these come out ok. Not as good as I expected.

I liked for chicken wings and French fries. With the arm can not do delegate things. It has started to make a thumping noise now when it cooks. It has not lasted and too expensive to quite working so quickly. Sounds like the motor is going out. Very unhappy with quality.

This Airfryer Is A Waste
It is totally a waste. At first, I thought buying this airfryer is better idea than Phillips air fryer because it has the turning arm inside the machine so I don't need turn the food during cooking chips, chicken wings, etc. However, I saw the Phillips airfryer can cook harshbrown, cakes, steaks, as whole piece food, the Tefal airfryer can not because of the turning arm which will destroy the harshbrown into little pieces. Second bad thing about this airfryer is made by plastic comparing to the Phillips one which is made by metal. Also, after c...Read more
ooking for 4 or 5 times, I could see the plastic lid changed colour from clear to brown so it is not safe for food. Let's think about this, a machine made from plastic uses heat to cook food, heat and plastic would the food be safe to eat? Also the lid is easy broken so when it breaks you can not use it anymore. Please save your money, do not buy this machine. Hope this review can give you a clear picture about this airfryer.1 comment

Such a disappointment
I bought one of the first actifry's.....it was fantastic used it 5-7 days a week. The lid broke couldn't get it replaced/fixed. Bought the new one, it is just awful takes 3 times more to cook. If top cooks bottom doesn't. It cost nearly $300. And it's no where near as good as the first one. So disappointed in this so called new technology. What a shame tefal!! love the healthy cooking side just hate waiting for food to be cooked after the recommended time passes!!

An indispensible kitchen appliance
I've had the Tefal Actifry for 2 and a half years now and use it 2 or 3 times per week. It excels at making the perfect hot chips, but I also use it for sausages, frozen dim sims, 'roast' vegetables, chicken pieces and whatever else I can think of.
It's fantastic for when you come home tired from work and can just throw in some frozen chips and defrosted meat pieces (if it's fresh red meat, I brown it quickly first so I don't get blood on the chips), jumble together a quick salad or microwave some frozen peas, corn or carrots and in 20mins yo...Read more
u have a satisfying hot dinner. I've read some of the criticisms of the unit and can only imagine that either (1) they have been unlucky and got a faulty unit (2) they haven't followed the instructions correctly and maybe overfilled the product to snap the paddle or (3) they expect too much - I bought mine on sale so it was reasonably priced, if I use it 3 times per week for up to 3 years - I consider that's a fair life for a kitchen electrical appliance at this price. I admit that it is noisy, but it cooks quickly and it's worth it. It has just started getting more noisy, so I suspect that the motor may be starting to give up but I fully intend to buy another one (a larger dual bowl model) when this one dies as I'm very impressed. UPDATE 28 July 2022 - I got a free replacement unit for the noisy one and it broke today. I went to use it and found the paddle had broken in 2 places (the plastic deteriorated from wear and tear). So the product lasted well at 3 years and 9 months with regular use (about 3 times per week).1 comment
