Spectacular fallout.
Since 20/3/20 I have been endeavouring to cancel or redate my flight to Norway after the border was closed. My flight was due out 25/3/20. After literally hours on the phone I got to 2nd and the call dropped out. Another couple of hours, got to 5th, dropped out. Spent several more hours to no avail. Sent 5 emails and not a word. I know they were busy but it is now 3/5/20. Pretty poor.
My other flights in Norway and Sri Lanka on other airlines contacted me and offered rescheduling vouchers. No calls to them required. Thai, you are just incompetent.

Fantastic service
We booked thai airways last minute after a budget airline cancelled. It was about twice the price but absolutely worth it. My partner and I had a whole row to ourselves but the seats were more than comfortable even if there was another person there. The food service was fast and the food was delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly and more than willing to get you anything you wanted. The in flight entertainment was also great. An overall awesome experience and they will be my first choice airline in south east asia from now on.

Won't refurn fare on their cancelled flights
COV19 caused cancellation they only refund taxes not the fare. Vietnam Air, Jetstar,EVA,JAL all refunded me full fare but not Thaiairways. They blame the govt for the cancellations. They dont care about customer's health at all?!!

future credit is not a refund
We were booked on Thai Airlines to return from Kathmandu to Brisbane on March 31st. Thai cancelled all flights from Kathmandu. We have been offered an airline credit with Thai, however I believe that a cash refund would be appropriate as we had to purchase other tickets to return home. Thai have not benn contactable to discuss this issue.

Disgraceful treatment of customers!
We were booked to travel from Perth to Osaka via Bangkok with Thai Airways next Friday, 3 April 2020, and over the past few days have received emails stating that our flights have now been cancelled due to the coronavirus. We booked online and direct with the airline, not through an agent! There was no explanation as to what options we had with regard to either a credit voucher to use in the future or a refund. Nothing! I've tried emailing them, calling them and sending them a message via Facebook Messenger asking them to contact me to disc...Read more
uss what our options are. This is seriously bad business practice! I notice on Facebook that many, many people are experiencing the exact same frustrations and I would suggest that not all bodes well for the retention of clientele when this whole situation is over.1 comment

Needs to reconsider their views before Fair Trading is involved
I booked a flight return from Sydney to Thailand in April.
Thai airways have cancelled my flight and will not provide a refund.
They offer to reschedule, but I had leave in April so can't go when they allow the flight rescheduled.
Travel agent says bad luck, sorry, it is Thai airways rules
Will approach fair trading with a complaint today

The only airline not offering refunds
As nobody can now travel due to Coronavirus, Thai Airways are refusing to refund or even change dates without them applying full charges to do so. Shame on you Thai airways especially in these uncertain times. All other airlines are waiving their charges. It's an absolute disgrace.

Waiting on an outcome!
With the advent of Coronavirus, there is to be no international travel. Thai Airways are refusing to refund or even cancel flights. We have tried to call, lined up at the office yet they are no help. This situation is terrible and companies that prey on the small customers are reprehensible.

Reservation staff excellent but cannot make a decision
We have not flown out yet. We depart in May 2020 from Sydney. We booked via a travel website who are not the quickest with customer service or quick replies. Thai Sydney reservation staff are certainly good to the point of excellent. I found our flights had been reduced in price plus en extra 10 kgs baggage to the fare. Not to bad at all. Called thai reservations and it was referred to the sales manager who replied go back to the travel agent cancel and rebook. Sure that means paying cancellation fees charged by the carrier. Not really the repl...Read more
y I would expect during this uncertain time but that is the sales managers answer. I accept this. Now I find with this virus carriers cancelling services to asia not thailand yet so I asked reservations the carriers ruling if we had to cancel. At this time no decision and cancellation fees still apply however the issue is been watched. A good clear reply from the Sydney reservations team during this uncertain times. We still look forward to flying with tg and have forgotten about the sales manager prefer to think of the excellent know how reservations team.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Thai Airways Lacking In Any Understanding
We were booked to fly to Bangkok with Thai Airways to celebrate our 50 year wedding anniversary in a weeks time. Because we are presently in the bushfires mayhem, South Coast, we obviously could not go and wanted to defer, not cancel or get a refund. Insurance is not claimable.
Thai Airways agreed to defer the flight to another time but wanted a cancellation and rebooking fee of several hundred dollars. Every other airline that is flying out of Sydney have agreed under the same circumstances to either credit flights or change dates WITHOUT penalty.
The hotel in Bangkok, Riverfront Shangri La, who are aware of our circumstances were more than happy to defer our booking without penalty.
Very disappointed Thai Airways.

Food and Seat
I went to Myanmar in November from Melbourne. Friendly service but the food were not good enough and they warm up for Sushi which is not necessary for. So the taste makes me throw up. Also Seat are not comfortable with head pain because the backrest is so weird on the head part. My neck got sore.
They should remove the permanent pillow from the seat.

Baggage handlers/ customer service
I flew Thai air from Delhi to Sydney. I checked 2 fragile items in through baggage check in. Both were labeled FRAGILE & I was assured they would be looked after. Both were musical instruments, both were damaged, sitar cracked 14inches around the bell, drums dinted. I provided customer service with photographs if damage, reciept of purchase & all info they required. They refuse to accept responsibility or reimburse me for my loss. I am totally shattered & extremely disappointed. I will never fly Thai air again & strongly advise any future customers who may have fragile baggage to reconsider booking with Thai if you value your baggage or overseas purchases as they do not !!

Thai Airways provided a terrible experience
Thai Airways provided the worst flight experience I have ever had.
1. My seat was broken, the arm rest was damaged and was held together with electrical tape.
2. The in flight entertainment did not work.
3. The company knew about the seat faults but still allowed the seat to be occupied.
4 The crew moved me to another seat but the guy next to me became aggessive and said he did not want me sitting next to him. He obviously liked having a spare seat. So, I was forced to go back to my broken seat.
Uncomfortable ride, no entertainment and a crew ...Read more
that did not seem to care at all. I reported the issue to the head office and they treated me shamefully. I will never fly Thai Airways ever again and I would advise everyone to avoid this airline unless you have absolutely no other options. They don't care about you and they are not to be trusted.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Horrible food and non existent service
The food on the flight from Sydney to Bangkok was terrible and the food on the return flight was worse Coffee was stone cold also. Makes me feel sick thinking about it even now.
There was no in flight service at all. No one came when you out the service light so we just gave up turning it on.
My seat on the return overnight flight was broken and did not recline. Was stuck in fully upright position so made the 9 hour overnight flight home terrible.
Would only fly Thai airlines again if they had a 90% off fare sale !!

Smooth as silk??? For sure!
I am writing about my experience at the Kolkata airport on 11/09/2019 by a Thai Airways personnel followed by poor customer support from their complaint section.
On early Wednesday morning (11/09), I was returning to Perth from Kolkata (via Bangkok) after completing shopping for a marriage occasion. Most of my luggage was packed in my suitcase, however, I had 2 hand luggages and my normal backpack as well. I went through check-in without questions and came to know that the flight has been delayed. I was stopped at the boarding gate by a Thai A...Read more
irways personnel who was utterly and disgustingly rude to me in his tone and behaviour. I was ready to pay for my over the limit cabin luggage, but that (not so gentle) man forced me to pose for a photo with my luggage (both from front and back) and treated me as if I was a criminal. He added that he would make sure that Perth airport would not release my suitcase without paying the excess luggage. My hand luggage was over the limit only by 4.9 kgs (the allowed limit being 7 kgs and the baggage weight being 11.9 kgs). I was charged at the Bangkok airport by Thai Airways for excess 10 kgs, when I should have only been charged for 4.9 kgs extra. On top of this fiasco, I missed my connecting flight for Perth and had to wait for midnight flight for which Thai provided accommodation. On my return to Perth, I put through a complaint with Thai Airways. The explanation came from [name removed] claiming the Kolkata personnel were under stress; that it was my fault not to abide by the luggage limit; that their personnel were allowed to take photos on their mobiles for “security” reasons etc. On my further correspondence in the matter, [name removed] came back with the response that enough time has been spent on responses and she did not have any intention to carry on any discussion on the matter any further. I have been seriously humiliated and shocked by such appalling behaviour from so-called trained professionals and I do not want others to relive my experiences. I am attaching my ticket, overweight luggage receipt, card charged by Thai along with the conversation from the Thai complaint department for your informed decision. I want people to be aware of my experience and take informed decision to fly with Thai as they are ‘smooth as silk’ with their evasion of responsibilities as well. Thanks.Similar opinion? Hello Can you tell me why is Thai Airways. Are price gouging (or put their prices up) on some of your flight. I been looking to travel with Thai Airways back to Thailand around mid December. Like from Melbourne to Bangkok on and around 17/12/2020. On Flight TG462 and Flight TG466 Fares show i can purchase a Value and it show me at $825.60 and seat at this price only 2 availability and you have sold 26 seats. But when i look at Flight TG 462 on 19/12/2020 you have allegedly sold 19 but the Fare for this is a Flexi Price is $915.60. If i don"t get a response from Thai Airways Manager Director. I will post less on Facebook.

You can check in online the day before. However you won't know if your seat will be broken or not. A reasonable person would expect a functional seat and working in flight entertainment.

fication of cancellation of flights. Initially I was offered a future travel credit voucher but I enquired as to whether I could get a full refund given that it was them that cancelled my flights. I also asked if I would be penalised with fees in any way. The response was that I could get a refund and I would not be penalised but I would have to wait UP TO 6 MONTHS for them to put it through due to the current demand on refunds. I also asked if they could send me some kind of confirmation of this and they said I would have to email them asking for it and they would respond by return email which they have done. I took the refund option but am not sure why it would take upwards of 6 months to process so I will just have to be patient.
