It's a great kitchen but comes with a mental cost also.
Well, after 2 years in our TGG Kitchen I thought that I'd include a review. Pros: looks good, functional. Cons: they didn't put in the correct size cabinet for microwave which meant that either TGG rebuild the whole wall of cabinets and fridge/freezer opening or we use a smaller microwave. We decided to use a smaller unit (which TGG supplied us thanks). Hindsight - I would have requested they rebuild and supply what was agreed. Under bench oven isn't installed correctly (is angled, not aligned). When the kitchen arrived the whole of the c...
Read moreabinetry over the stove top had to be modified to comply with clearance specs. When the constituted stone bench tops arrived (in the back of a ute with a bit of thin foam between them) the had chips and one was cut incorrectly and needed to be resupplied. They took forever so we had a complete kitchen that we couldn't use for 3 months. They finally supplied correctly and then took the best part of a whole week to do the install properly. Had to chase them up for the cutting boards promised from the cutout for the sink. They said that someone would come and check and realign all of the cabinetry in about 6mths. 2yrs on haven't seen or heard of TGGK. Not being a kitchen designer but being pretty handy with doing maintenance I've attended to the doors and other various things that needed correcting because the thought of having to deal with getting after sales stuff done was traumatic. During the process of design and production there is plenty of contact and information. The system seems to work pretty well so long as you're reasonably wise and can spot things that aren't correct along the design path. Once the kitchen is on site and the installers have finished, that's it. Don't expect to hear from anyone, especially if you have a problem or have had problems in the process. TGGK are a business and their priority is making money, not making you happy. It's pretty embarrassing when you have worked for one of the franchises, now the owner very well and then have to go through this process. Would I do it again? We could have purchased a local custom kitchen at a cost of an extra $10K (approx.) and if I had to do it again that is what I'd do. Having to deal with people in another state over the phone was difficult. Would I recommend TGGK to others. No. We're enjoying the kitchen and it sort of works but it all came at a mental cost which I wouldn't pay again.- Customer Service

Not happy
Not happy at all with our decision to go with Good Guys kitchens - all milk and honey at the beginning and then you are at the mercy of each tradesperson - no one takes responsibility- they say the installer is expected to oversee the other trades but he really does not - he provides the contact and we have to do the chasing. No one bothers to come around to even see if the job has been completed as per the design or make an inspection of the completed project. I mentioned this in my final survey report but no one even bothered to call me. T...

Reasonable value, but poor project management
We went with The Good Guys Kitchens because we were impressed by the professionalism of the designer. The quality of the cupboards and fittings is fine, although lack of flexibility on cupboard sizes has led to significant lost storage space in the corners. The old kitchen was removed on 20 May last year, and the new kitchen is not quite finished, almost 10 months later. Some three months of this was due to delays in an insurance claim through no fault of The Good Guys, but the primary cause was inadequate project management. The tradies who carried out the work were friendly and highly competent. The Good Guys Fyshwick were helpful in selecting and holding appliances for us.

Horror Stories becoming our reality
This is a work in progress. Our new TGG kitchen is progressing very slowly. Reading these reviews was very helpful. I only wish that I had read them before dealing with this company. In fact, our kitchen manufacturer isn't TGG, it's a kitchen company in Sydney. We have had to deal with corrections to design and installation all the way through our project. We have been fortunate the we have good mates who are tradies who offered to help. They have been involved from the beginning and have gone over the job along the way and given us grea...
Read moret feedback to take back to TGG to help them get it right. They still failed to get it all correct even after being told what and how to do it. We have all our cabinetry installed now and it looks great but it took a lot of time and communication to get it to this point. We are currently in our 'benchtop phase' which is proving another nightmare. As a past employee of TGG I purchased our appliances directly from them at a better price than I could get from the sales guy. After giving TGG all of the brand and model numbers of the goods we purchased from them they still managed to get the cabinetry wrong under the cooktop which now sits about 3mm off the benchtop. The installer is coming next week to correct. Oh, did I mention that our dishwasher doesn't fit into the space provided for it. Yep, it doesn't fit. He is going to correct that also. Our Serrafina benchtops arrived yesterday. They came in the back of the tradies one-tonner and had a nice, thin, flimsy piece of foam around them. After being told by our check measure guy to treat them like a new baby when they arrive and not to touch them until they get back to install them we were surprised. We weren't surprised however when we discovered that the cutouts for sink and cooktop had already been done and that the sink section was cracked (how disappointing after waiting for about 4 weeks longer than told). Another section had a significant chip out of the edge. We were told that I would be covered by the splashback (which it seems that TGG and their tradies do not do - organise yourself). It would be covered but only if I use a 6mm splashback over the sink area (very expensive and not necessary for this area). I then noticed that one cut along the wall varied from about 2.5 to nearly 5.5mm from the wall and was not straight. This was in an area that would be seen constantly by all. Trying to correct by caulking will look terrible. I am now in the process of getting some new benchtops cut from the supplier. Our current situation is that we will have to wait ANOTHER 2 weeks. Ah well, Having a family of 6 living out of a microwave and camp oven for the 3-4weeks that we were told was doable and had a novelty aspect. We are now at about week 7 with the prospect of another couple assuming that things go according to plan (Oh, is that Murphy talking in the background). I would recommend everybody to do lots of homework before buying a kitchen, particularly from TGG Kitchens. They are a whitegoods retailer, not a kitchen manufacturer and this is not their specialty. Get quotes and advice from a local reputable kitchen manufacturer. It will be worth it. Wish me luck. February 28th 2017 Update: Horror Stories becoming our Reality II Okay. Ok. Lots of faults though. No repsonsiblity
Just had a kitchen done through them in August 2016.
The dishwasher is broken after being bought through them and installed by their plumber, into their kitchen.
No responsibility is being taken. Some of the doors don't open properly in the cupboards. They didn't put the kick panels in to meet the edge of the existing flooring so we have a 2mm -5mm gap running around which is great at catching water and food.
Also the pull out cupboard that was installed ripped out of the floor and had to be fixed. But that was at least fixed very quickly.

Flat pack kitchens!
We had a consultant come out from The Good Guys Kitchens after we visited the showroom. The designer was professional, prompt and friendly, however there was no thinking outside the box, the designer basically just recommended to replace what we already had. There was a great visual of the kitchen on the laptop and he knew exactly what he was doing! The issue I had was when it came to cost, the designer added it all up and said this is what you are looking at, I can call my manager and see if there is any movement in that price but you need to ...
Read morebe ready to sign the contract now and pay a deposit, we agreed. The designer then phoned the manager who said we could have an extra discount, we then said we needed time to talk over the plan, the cost and as we hadn't had any other quotes we didn't want to sign on the dotted line.. The designer said that he could not guarantee we would get that price tomorrow as it did depend on stock levels in the factory, we could only get a discount if it was in stock. Whilst the service at the Good Guys was professional, we didn't go any further and buy from them, to be honest the price wasn't that great and it couldn't be customed to entirely suit our needs. Not perfect
Have to say. I am happy with the cupboards themselves. Tho a few shelves are missing.
My issue is with good guys themselves and the installer.
The communication between parties and myself make me think I could of sourced those cupboards myself and someone to install, electrician and plumber myself.
Once the installation happened communication is rubbish. We have issues that need to be resolved and it seems that the good guys just pass the buck to the installer and don't help with anything after they have got your money. I am disappointed a...
Good but a bit expensive for the material.
I had more space with my old cupboards then I do know. Otherwise it looks ok. Guys that put it together are VERY GOOD in what they do cannot complain about them. If you need splash back go to
someone local not via GG as still waiting for repair work. Splash back mob won't give me a date and time to do repairs
Maybe need to get in touch with QBCC
End result is good and Guru was very helpful
Started by being in the right shop for a presentation Guru a great help over time and several discussions, ended up with a happy outcome.

New kitchen
every stage handled in Sydney up to delivery. All stages notified via their computer portal and every time I needed to call Sydney office staff were rude and aggressive.
Products purchased at Dandenong good guys great service there and the Melbourne based installers were a dream
Horrible staff in Sydney and unhelpful was made to feel I was a problem customer for calling
Don't use them they give the good guys a bad name 20000 spent and treated like the customer is a problem
Great end product, questionable business practices
The final product is installed and the quality is fabulous. However the experience with the Goodguys was far from transparent. As our designer was drawing and calculating by hand rather than computer aided, the pricing too was manually calculated in a rush and presented as a scribbled calculation as a total contract amount, which was not left with us once the contract was signed. I later wanted a breakdown of the pricing (ie, the price of cupboards, handles, etc) and after leaving about five messages for a return call, was told this was not av...
Read moreailable to me! Even used car salesmen do better than this, and that's saying something! The designer had already over-measured our room, meaning her design would never have fitted anyway resulting in changes to our already ordered appliances to fit the corrected scale. Whilst variations to the contract show a detailed cost plus/minus, the original costing is a mystery. Even some assistance with providing cost differences when choosing cupboard finishes, handles, etc, would've demonstrated an interest in developing the best cost-effective package for the customer, but like getting blood out of a stone. Our designer's layout was more about the size of cupboards we could fit, rather their intended use. We were complimented with the supposed free gift of cutlery tray, only to find out later that the trays come with the draw anyway! A visit by the installer was our blessing. His experience and practical ideas had EVERYTHING to do with the successful layout of our new kitchen. In no time the configuration was reworked into what is now a fabulous kitchen. We had a great experience with the work of the installer and the stone provider. Very professional and a pleasure to have in your home. My advice to anyone considering the Goodguys kitchens ... The end product is great and what you are left with for a long time. Make sure you get your questions answered before you sign up, because the doors close on you before the ink is dry on the contract. Don't get sucked into the flamboyance of their marketing and representation - they're very smooth. This is a business contract after all. Good luckVery Slow
Our kitchen install started 19/11/14. It is now 11/03/15 and is 95% complete. I do have to say that our installers are great and bench top install was perfect. Please note that the Good Guys coordinate the installers who are independent contractors. They are fantastic, but under the timeline and pressure of the Good Guys Kitchens. I do trust that the kitchen once completed will be fabulous. But it is obvious that there is a breakdown in the line of communication with size changes being reported back at the time of install or other unforeseen d...
Read moreetails that may have changed during the install. I have so many improperly sized or damaged doors and panels ( from the manufacturer) in my garage that could probably produce another kitchen. I do think that the Good Guys have a wonderful product, but maybe they need to cut back their quota until they have refined their manufacturing. I wonder how many kitchens they have started in the last 6 months and what percentage has been completed. Also they should allow the customers to hold back 10% of the price until completion, the hold back at this time is with the installer, which is unfair. I think the Good Guys have an outstanding product if they can decrease the time of manufacturing, and the accuracy in measurements, they will be fantastic, but for now it is a very slow process.Find out how The Good Guys Kitchens compares to other Kitchen Renovators

Be aware
Recently had kitchen installed by caringbah nsw Good guys. Delivery and installation of kitchen cupboards went to plan but if you think it will all be managed by one person you would be quite wrong. The cupboards were left with a gap above and we had to chase up plasterers to fix this as the original one did an extremely bad job. The electrician had to come back to fix a problem left when the tiler left. With the money we paid it should have been all done to perfection but at times we felt that we were the project managers. Not what we thought ...
Read morewe were signing up for. Be very careful when signing the contract if you think they will do everything for you. Would not recommend them to friends as it became a hassle during this time. Be aware that you pay the tradesmen directly and therefore there is no comeback on the good guys if things go wrong. Their 2 day estimated install took 3 weeks. Design okay Expensive please see above for commentsHigh Pressure Sales
We asked for a quote from Good guys. We got a 3 hour sales pitch. Price was way over the top, and when we said we weren't interested, the price dropped by over $9000 down to $13500. Since we didn't sign up on the spot, that offer is withdrawn. That seemed pretty childish to me, so I decided to write.
Kitchens probably ok, though they pushed us to cheaper options, but know you will get pressured for quite a while if you ask for a quote.

Read moree officially done about them. I wouldn't waste your hard earned money on this company!!There really are some big disparities between reviews for this company. I think it would be helpful for people leaving comments to mention the suburb they live in or the store they used as there may be a trend evident of where you might end up being able to count on good service and appropriately skilled people. Just a thought as I am very tempted - I live closest to the Capalaba store so if anyone has feedback on that, I would appreciate it.
It does not matter which store you go through because the company is a separate entity - Courtsean Pty Ltd trading as The Good Guys Kitchens.- all the kitchens are managed by their Somersby NSW store....
Read more What I can tell you is that they take your money upfront and if anything goes wrong they don't take any responsibility to get it right. One of our benches was measured incorrectly and I have had to chase the Somersby office for a replacement. They do not call you to advise you of when it will be ready, the Customer Services Manager speaks to you in a moronic and robotic way and just keeps telling you that they cannot guarantee your delivery in a speedy manner. What should have taken a week has now become a month without a functioning kitchen. They promise to organise an installer, they do, but when things go wrong they basically don't care. I have had to take over the project management of my kitchen - the plumbers refused to bring the fridge inside the house - it was the The Good Guys Store/Thomastown Vic who came to my rescue and organised for their delivery drivers to do so. I cannot speak highly enough of the sales staff at the The Good Guys store.
