Best Car! So Durable And Reliable!

published

The best car for me, not so expensive and yet very durable and reliable. Spare parts are easy to find too. I had 3 cars of Toyota since I learned to drive and I have never encounter a major problem. Most of my friends had problems with their cars. I was able to test the durability of this car when a construction beside our house was on going. Two cars parked near the site, our car and the other is a different brand. There were stones falling and the other car's windshield and door was damaged but my car wasn't though both car was hit:) We had camry for 9 years but the engine was like new even after 9 years!

You can never go wrong with Toyota. Worth your money!

Can't get rid of it.

2005 2.4 auto Sportivo. Brought the car brand new. (Our first new car) 4th child on the way so brought 7 seater Volvo XC90 but car no where near refined as the Camry. Apart from tyres and brakes alternator just let go at 210,000km first issue what a great car. Car has been a great honest car so I'm keeping it and letting go of my old ute. I always change oil at 10,000km intervals with the best synthetic oil. Car 10.5 years old with 215,000km and engine is still so quite. Perfect family car. Beats me why a car like this wouldn't get a car of the year award.

Best towing vehicle ever

published

I have owned my 2003 V6 Sport 5 speed manual wth 260,000 on the clock since 2011 and all I have replaced is break pads. I tow a 15 foot caravan in 4th gear and it sit on 100 ks all day even on most hills. I drive on cruise control most of the time even when towing. I would never go past a camry if you are looking for a good towing vehicle.

Good, Reliable, Honest Car as It's Toyota.

published

I've bought 2005 Toyota Camry Altise Limited Edition V6 in March 2013. It clocked 85k at the time of purchase. Now standing at 110k. No problem at all. Very Happy... Very good, solid and reliable car, would definitely recommend this car. Mind you that it is V6 3L car, so don't expect to have higher mileage like some idiot in this section.

2005 Sportivo V6 5 Speed

published

The best 8gz ever spent! Owned for 3 years now originally purchased with only 59000 kms on the clock now done 80000 kms. Drove from Darwin to Sydney and gave me 750 kms to a tank and the empty light had not come on yet but the needle was just about the 3 quarter empty mark. I could not believe it, considering cruise control had her sit between 110 - 120 km/h. The car handled the long hot steamy trip without fail. I was stunned. Highly recommended to anyone! Don't get me wrong around town she's a little thirsty but long distance wow. No problems yet fingers crossed. Fully stock apart from stereo.

2005 Sportivo 4 cyl

published

A good honest car. Very reliable. Reasonably economical but not brilliant. Very nice interior. Did not have the longevity of earlier Toyotas with a few items starting to break and paint fading after a few years, good intermediate size would suit many people. Good visibility and relatively good comfort for long distance. Relatively low service costs.
Mechanical reliability.
Toyotas don't have the long lives they used to.

Cool for japanese

We own a 2005, Camry Sportivo sports, with factory tint, 4cyl, 5 speed, cruise control and moon roof. Thing goes like a cat on steroids, but the fifth star would have been for rear wheel drive, could easy challenge an EVO with this setup. Rear drive would give it the traction it needs to launch, rather than loss of traction (dynamic balance for drifting or burnouts).
Instant revs, however, my wife likes all the bells & whistles
Lack of rear drive

Reliable Engine

published

I bought my car brand new since 2004. Never had any problem with the engine except for cosmetic issues, like the rubber around the doors kept on falling off at the start and I only get 400 kms on short trips but 600 kms on long trips. Overall it has been reliable considering that I have driven interstates quite a few times without any problems at all.
The reassurance that the engine would never let me down
Rubber around doors falling off at the start but now ok

Best car I've owned.

Hammered from new. Never let me down. Still have it. 150,000km.
Biggest problem- starter motor "jammed" after six years. - Repacked it with grease (30min job). One year later starts every time. Replaced battery after six years. Wheel alignment OK after 100,000km. Hard to believe after the hard time I've given it.
Reliable. Inexpensive. Plenty of room. Excellent for towing trailer and bikes. Plenty of low rev power and torque. Excellent workhorse.

Toyota you cant go wrong

published

My partner and I have only ever owned Toyotas, my second car was a 2002 ex rental Toyota Corolla (best car I ever owned) and my partners first car 1980's? model Corolla ran like a dream got over 400,000kms out of it. I now own a Toyota Camry Sportivo 2006 bought with 84000 kms on it 2.5 yrs ago. Car has never given me any problems, I've now added a DVD touchscreen stereo and replaced the 6 speakers in this car runs like a dream and I am so happy to own a Toyota. I'd never buy anything but a Toyota all my cars so far have been so very reliable and fuel efficient. :)

My partner just yesterday bought a 2001 Landcruiser Prado and prior to that owned a Toyota 1993 Hilux surf. Safe to say we love Toyotas :)
The coloured interior :) red & black

I have owned a 2004 altise from brand new and still runs like a dream and hasn't given me any problems apart from the alternator failing at 60,000 km's.

Love it as a family car. Still very spacious even with baby seat put in the middle of back seat. Very smooth to drive around, not much engine noise. Would buy Toyota Camry again in the future.
Great family car, spacious, very smooth to drive.
Plain design but doesn't matter.

I have a 2002 Toyota Camry with a 2.4 4 cylinder motor that's blown!! Can I swap it out with a 98 2.2 motor?

1 answer
onetrack
onetrack

No, it is a completely different model of engine. The '98 2.2L is a cast iron block with alloy head, the '02 2.4L is an all-alloy motor, this engine was a completely new redesign in '02. The '98 2.2L is a 5S-FE model engine, the '02 2.4L is a 2AZ-FE engine.

l have a 2004 Toyota camry. I've owned since then, it's done 240,000 kms or around 20,000 kms a year. l live in the country and get it serviced regularly, it runs brilliantly, never had any mechanical problems, only problem was a rusty exhaust had to be replaced because of rust. l was wondering how many more years or KM's do you think it will continue to run well before there starts to be serious or expensive problems when l would be better off getting a new car?

Oil is to cars what blood is to humans. Fully serviced is the key to long life I ran a corona to 290k and saw that the guy that bought it was still running it 3 years later. Traditionally newer toyota vehicles are not oil burners so if the exhaust starts showing blacksmoke and or/soot in the tail pipe, it's time to bail out. Use a quality product to clean (a) the fuel injectors (b) the top end valves and rockers. If the book allows you to use premium fuel, it has additives will clean the rockers and valves, etc. Well worth a tank full. Run the fuel tank level down to about 1/4 full and then fill up with premium. Only other thing that's probably due for a makor check is the steering assembly. Bumps and lumps in the country may have created a need for the assembly there to be replaced. Often there is a clicking sound when turning left or right, that indicates the problem. At 290k you will not get much for it but it will not owe you much either.

amrad
amrad

Thanks! Do you think l should be able to get a few more years out of it. You mentioned the steering assembly? Should l ask them to give it a check the next time l get it serviced or it that something they check anyway and they would notice anything wrong? l get serviced at a Toyota garage.
