love the car in every way except for the lack of room for anything such as uhf radios, and storage space to store gear such as recovery gear, so I had to go buy a drawn system and fit that into the back of th car, also the power or cigarete socket in the rear of the car uses too light a guage wiring!

Room for improvement
Bad points,- Gps/entertainment system is hopeless! . My little 10 year old garmin outperforms it. There is no steering wheel controls(even my wifes corola has them). The vehicle has built in tow bar but does not come with wiring harness which means the rear side panels and rear seats have to be removed to fit.(Surely it is legally required in all countries to have trailer lights on all trailers, and surely it is more cost effective to be done during the assembly process. There is a problem with the new injectors. The back of the vehicle contin...Read more
ually had deposits of soot on the back door, also suffered smoking problems.Dealer had to change injectors after carrying out tests required by Toyota. This all happened soon after first service, (This is not an isolated case, my sons vehicle had problems when driving home from dealer after purchase, also had injectors replaced). Vehicle suffered major dust problems when driven offroad. ( so bad i could not read dash, dust was throughout vehicle,, dealer adjusted doors, have not tested since.) GXL dash instrumentation is lacking badly even compared to the lower grade corola . Good points- powerfull, best tow vehicle available, comfortable, good fuel economy (10.2 L/100k distance highway driving, 18.2 L/100 towing 20ft van. Fantastic headlights, brakes, handling and offroad ability.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

TOYOTA LC200 Land Cruiser May 2008
Purchased 3/10 from Llewellyn Motors, Ipswich, QLD with $46,600 k's on the clock.
Very comfortable to drive- no fatigue at days end.
More towing power than we will ever use ( Tow a 2 tonne camper trailer at around 95 - 100 k's with engine doing around 1700 revs)
Just wish 6th gear would kick in at 95 - 98 k's instead of 102k's.
KDSS gives the vehicle good stability, and handling is good.
Interior is good, but we have put leather throughout which makes it better. Would like more "ciggy lighters" for charging ipads, tomtoms etc, especially...Read more
for rear passengers. Vehicle has bee very reliable with a couple of issues rectified by Toyota without argument or hassles. Performance is really good with fuel consumption to be envied by many other brands. We average 13.8 - 14 litres per 100 k's regardless of whether it's "around town" or towing our camper trailer ( 2 tonnes) on open roads or "up hill and down dale".Similar opinion? 2016 GXL Hands Free Electrical Noise
The car is great with the exception of the stereo. I have tried several iphones (5, 6 & 7) and all people I am talking to can barely hear me over an electrical buzzing noise. Toyota have replicated the problem and are investigating. Possibly a problem in the series as the car the tested against also had the problem. Going to install a new head unit soon??? but I am not confident this is going to fix. Also very poor on Toyotas part for not having hands free controls on the steering wheel.

Waste of money!
We went from a GXL prado to a 200 series Landcruiser to gain the extra boot space as we have 5 children.
Very disappointed, the 2016 gxl has none of the features of the gxls before it, no sterring wheel controls, no heater in the back for the kids and no reversing snesors.
To top it off when we tow or over take it derates and goes into limp mode, very dangerous! After months of complaints to toyota it finally was looked at today, it needs 8 new injectors as they are faulty, the dpf burners are not operating as they should, and it has failed i...Read more

Love the car - Tow 3 ton Caravan
I am currently looking at reviews for my son who is thinking of buying a work horse. Have read many reviews on many cars, it appears to me that all cars have a lottery associated to it, as how it is going to perform. To balance some of the comments made about the Landcruiser 200 series, I've had mine from new. (2013). I've done 85k. I have not had any problems with it at all. Comfortable and tows my 3 Ton van with ease. Love this car.

Excellent GXL 2015 car except not having a retractable mirror for parking it in my garage
This is an excellent GXL 2015 diesel car except not having an automatic retractable mirror for parking it in my garage which is too narrow when the 2 mirrors are unretracted. The question is that can these 2 mirrors be retractable later or a year later? It seems toyota is not interested but may be an oem is willing to add this automatic retractable mirror. What do I do? Please, let me know.

ade by Toyota's robots! The paint degrades after washing your car with a normal cleaning product. Toyota and the dealer are denying everything by blaming the consumer as usual because of using the wrong washing product or inexperienced cleaners. Damages is costing $ 1,800 to repaint the side of the car following the advise from a smash repairer expert. "What a bad feeling". My exprience illustrates that Toyota' quality standards have dropped in the last 5 years for a Landcruiser costing well over $ 80,000. Furthermore, the regulator ACCC is not very helpful when complaints are lodged with them. A few few teething problems, but happy in the end
What's with no audio or phone controls on the steering, and the fuel consumption is nothing like it says on the sticker. That said the vehicle drives well, has heaps of power and just cruises the many highway kilometres that I do. I presume the next release of the GXL will have the gadgets expected in this price range.

High fuel use
Anyone that says a v8 3 tonne 4wd only uses 11 litres per 100 is a liar. I get 15 litre per hundred not towing and about 25 litres per hundred towing a 2t van---great vehicle, can't fault it apart from how thirsty it is. Toyota said its normal. The figures of less than 20 litres per hundred when towing are going down hill in neutral with engine off.

Love the Car but have a huge Disappointment
This is my 4th Cruiser (1 used, 3 New) & I love it as the truck it is. Heaps of power, great torque, comfortable to drive but..... Each upgrade gets dearer & dearer, this last GXL set me back $95k. Then, only on the drive home did it dawn on me..... There's no steering wheel audio controls.!!!!! There was in the previous GXL!
I drive 130km per day (minimum) so listen to a lot of audio. I use the volume control more than I use the indicators. But there it is, missing! Never thought to check for that in the specs before I ordered, it's been an i...Read more

Overall it is awesome but no audio controls on Steering Wheel - big time retrograde step from earli
Absolutely love the car ( 18,000 kms in 4 months).
Comfortable,quieter,much better economy,hate the radio/hands-free operation.
The volume/on/off control is on the left hand side of the radio and with no steering wheel controls you have to actually look to ensure you reach the button.
You can buy a Yaris with steering wheel controls for under $20k!!
What a joke!
The use of the radio controls whilst driving is unsafe!!

Wish I had my jeep back
So spent $98,000 on my 2015 gxl with accessories trading a really good jeep grand Cherokee crd as I had been told how good these Toyota's were. Well it's thirsty 18.5 litres per hundred around town which goes up to 30.0 litres per hundred when towing. It's been in for a GPS fix, cruise control fix and rattles to be fixed none of these fixes have worked.

Revs high on 100kl then drops
Hi I copied and pasted this story because i notice my new 2015 GXL 200 series dose the same thing. I don't no if it torque converter or not,or it is hanging in 5 gear but if im in cruise control it sits on 1900 revs I increase speed and decrease speed it drop to 1500 revswill ask sevice department,but if anybody has come up against this please let me no. { I have noticed is the torque converter often slips at 100kph making it rev at nearly 2000rpm which is a waste on a motor with so much torque. By accelerating to 110k then backing off gets it cruising at a more reasonable 1500rpm.}

Truly king on the road
Best 4x4 wagon on the road. Comfortable, powerful, great for towing and a dream to drive. I had a Patrol prior to this vehicle and was known as a Nissan nut. I have seen the light and could be considered a Toyota tragic due to this great vehicle - LC200 GXL V8 diesel wagon. The longer we have owned this vehicle the better the experience has become. We have towed our 2.5t Whittley extensively and the landcruiser does it without the feeling of towing. It has been a great investment and would recommend the GXL auto to any prospective buyer. I would also recommend the guys at Goulburn Toyota to make your purchase - ask for David.

2012 V8 petrol.
First of all I'm writing this review in regards to my Grandfather's 200 series GXL with the UGR-FE 4.6 V8 petrol. He chose the petrol due to the unnecessary complexity of the diesel as he has heard and encountered too many horror stories.
Superb car. It is thirsty but relative to its size it does quite well. About 12 to 13 on a trip and mid to high teens around town. It does better on 95 octane. Huge power, bit of a torque deficit compared to the diesel, but that's about it. Really smooth, quiet and reliable. Haven't had a single issue in 130,000 KM's.
The six speed is much better than the old 5. Drives nicely enough for a big Wagon and it's super quiet and comfortable on a trip.

New Cruiser 200: All good so far!
We bought a new Land Cruiser 200 GXL TD V8 in November 2013 to replace our much loved 100 GXL TD after 330,000k+/12years of great motoring. I had read all the 200 reviews, both good and bad, and held off buying for at least 3 years hoping any problems would be rectified. Immediately after acquiring the 200 we did a return Sydney/Perth trip and now have around 14,000k on the clock. The 200 is a great car, quiet and smooth to drive as well as being very powerful, much more so than the old 100. So far the car has consumed no oil and achieved aroun...Read more
d 11.5litres/100k on the open road. During our trip we crossed paths with a few wild goats necessitating some emergency breaking which saw the Cruiser slow rapidly from a high speed (130 kph), in a very straight line, with not even a hint of a wheel lock-up, and cruise control automatically disengage without a problem. We have had one capped-price service at Toyota which was well done, with the capped price including the new oil and oil filter. Overall the car has been fine so far meeting all my expectations, although still early days with no dirt roads as yet. The old 100 TD was a great vehicle that took us safely everywhere and back (Cape York, Canning Stock Route, the Kimberleys, Arnhem Land...) and we hope we get equivalent loyal service from the new 200. Performance, comfort A bit expensive1 comment

cheduled capped service. You may also find yourself receiving all sorts of recommendations about extras during the capped service you 'should' consider - a lot of it is totally unnecessary but will definitely increase your total service bill. Maybe things have changed since we purchased our vehicle in 2012 but going by our service book and experience, if you find a reliable and honest Toyota service centre, you are doing well. One other tip, don't use the pollen filter button on your a/c console - it blocks up your filters quick smart. And if you do lose pressure from your a/c clean the bigger filter out yourself - it's located in the glove box. Saves you time and a heap of money! Toyota have in the past gladly 'fixed' this issue for us but not anymore - you don't need a mechanic for that.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Does everything we expected Plus. A pleasure to drive and handles our 3000kg plus, van with ease. Fuel economy will improve when we get a few more k,s on the clock. Love the GXL but will upgrade to a VX next time. Have had 7 diesel Prados in the past and they had more tricks than the 200. The VX will at least have a trip computer and the upgraded suspension.
Comfort, stability, power, fuel consumption, safety
could have more standard features, trip computer, upgraded gps, 2nd row centre arm rests, easily removed rear seats,

Would be a great vehicle if this problem can be fixed. Everyone knows the damage dust can do to a motor. I noticed this after 3000 km. What if I had waited till the recommended 30 000km?

GXL 200 diesel have always had a toyota, but would have my old GXL 100 series back. feel very unstable when on dirt road with this new car, wouldn't recommend it. toyota have lost a new car buyer,
glad to see a/c all the way through. comfy and roomy. quiet no road noise. lots of power.
doesn't handle dirt road corrugations when towing horse float lots of drifting, unstable, aqua planes on wet bitumen, no fridge plug in rear area, floaty on road

There is the KDSS suspension system that will help with that problem. unfortunately it was not a standard option on GXL diesel until late 2009. You can get the system put in now but will cost a little extra over the $2500 option cost.

I have a 2011 gx, and got it remapped recently after buying it about 8 months ago, and the readout said that it only has 165kw after the remap and 140 before, I thought 200kw was standard
2 answers
Ask an Agent or look in tbe manual, usually available on line
200kw is at the engine. When you allow for drive-line losses you get 140kw as measured at the tyres
165kw is measured at the tyres.
Dont feel bad, The Y62 Patrol is 297kw at the engine and yet was 163kw at the tyres AFTER a tune.

There were a batch of faulty injectors - get them checked out by your dealer. Do you have a performance chip installed? These can generate extra soot.
