Great car for touring
We purchased the Prado new as a replacement for a LandRover Discovery3. We have now had the car almost 6 years and travelled 100,000kms. We have had it serviced by the Toyota dealer since new whilst the 6 yr warranty ran. There have been a couple of warranty claims...nothing major, just niggles. Now, post warranty we will get the car serviced by a more local specialist.
We have modified the car to make it better for touring /off-road (suspension, snorkel, under body armour, dual battery, ARB bull bar, secondary fuel filter, diff breathers, thr...Read more
Purchased in January 2021 at Toyota Dealers for $60,000.00.

Great driving fun
The Prado is a great driving experience, both on & off road. On the road it is a smooth ride combined with surprisingly good handling & mobility. Easy to navigate through the city but the parking sensors are a must have. Off road, if you're that way inclined, it is dynamite, smoothing out bush tracks with ease & a blast to drive (my kids loved it).

awsome 4x4. diesel turbo
we are on our 2nd 150 series gxl turbo diesel now, and would not be without one now. the prado is great for towing a mediem size caravan or boat, and still great to pick the kids up from school or go to coles. we have the 3ltr turbo diesel, i would never buy a petrol v6, they are very heavy on fuel with a low resale price for this reason. The only real maintenance ive done is changing the oil every 8,000km, i do the oil and filter myself, my prado now has 170,000kms and still runs perfectly. i had nunawading toyota in melbourne do the...Read more
timing belt at 150,000kms as it was only $330 they charged me, i figured not worth doing it myself for this small amount. i have never had the valve clearances checked, it runs perfect so i thought id let it go until maybe 200,000km mark. the only other thing was the alternator gave up at about 160,000 mark, cost was around $700 for this supplied and fitted at toyota dealer. but this happens to any make or model with this many kms on the clock. i highly recomend any family to buy a prado 150 series, only buy diesel tho, not petrol models!!Similar opinion? Best Car I’ve Ever Owned
We bought a Prado because my husband wanted one - I was nervous about driving such a big car but pleasantly surprised that it’s an easy drive!
It handles well, comfortable to ride in, not too noisy, surprisingly good turning circle, nice modern interior. There’s so much space for our kids and all the stuff that comes with them!
Our 2010 model hasn’t really missed a beat yet, I’d definitely recommend a Prado and Toyota in general!

Just curious
Has anyone had issues with oil leaks from the tappet cover? I just purchased a used 2014 GXL and have had the issue 1 week post purchase. Purchased from top dealer but just wondering is this a common problem? Dealer is happy to fix so no issue there. Just curious

Smooth Ride.
We bought this after owning a Subaru Outback. It is beautiful to drive. Although we rarely use them, I like the option of 7 seats. The back row is not as deep as the outback which is no longer a problem as our youngest is now forward facing, however something to consider if you’ve got rear facing seats..

Best drive in 50+ years of driving
I had a Prado (series 90), which I thought would see us out, as it was a great 4WD. Then when I was at CMI Toyota having it serviced, I happened to see the new series 150. I think I fell in love yet again, so I arranged for a test drive so my wife could experience it too. We went and it was great, so we ordered a diesel GXL, Black (how barmy). I gave my daughter and husband a deal they couldn't resist on the old one and a few weeks later we took delivery of it. We have it serviced as it should be by CMI and it's ran amazingly ever since. The on...Read more
ly complaint I could have is that the original tyres were absolute rubbish on a 4WD, and the colour seems to attract vandals in shopping car parks. It is big and that lends itself to its comfort. Back in about 1966, I worked in my own business and contracted to a steel fabricator, who purchased a new RR Silver Cloud. To my surprise (and Joy) he asked if I wanted to drive it around the block. The comfort was amazing, and there are features that can't and won't ever be matched, but when I drove the Prado for the first time I was Gobsmacked that the comfort matched what I could remember. I've now had it for a little over 7 years and still think of it as a new car, albeit having a few vandal scratches. It is driven quite frequently off road, because my son has a few acres in the hills and he thinks of it as his second car. With my Cooper AT Heavy Tires it's an amazing vehicle, since swapping tyres it's never let me downSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

LOVE our 2014 Prado t/d
Great to Drive this is my 5th Prado 2x120 GXLs 1x150 VX 2 x 150 GXLs very comfortable in the roughest of conditions climbing on the Flinders Ranges across the Big Red Sand Dunes or the Cordillo Downs Rd!
Never Let Us Down and they can go most places as standard, that other 4x4s go with their big tyres lift kits, lockers etc excepting maybe deep MUD ruts thats understandable. Since owning my first Prado 12 years ag I can't see us changing to any other 4wd. Only ever 2 issues in that time 100s of thousands of kms over some of the roughest roa...Read more

Disappointed 2nd Prado
What a Lemon, two in a row. I finally got to know a salesman and he said he would never own one. The advertising costs is just ridiculous in the prado new today 63k drive away, come on Toyota there a 40k car not many improvements viciously in 20 years. 2.5 tonne towing, Rv owners beware not only fined by the rms towing 2.6 tonne. They are not designed for towing family rvs.

Good for big family
I just want to say it is good for big family
It is hard to say which one is good or bad because different people have different expectations
When I choose the car I just ask myself what do you want
The big car, I concerned the parking space sometimes

Very unhappy with a well advertised vehicle
The prado was great for the first 50 000ks unfortunately once off road the prado was very disappointing, unfortunately the dealer was not interested in the problems with the vehicle, warranty would not cover the cracked chassis rail as they said it was neglect. I have had issues with the electronics and gearbox. I could not purchase an 18 ft van with the prado with 2.5t towing. There are better 4x4 vehicles on the market at a much less purchase price.

. Check with the dealer for tow weight. I was fined towing my 18 ft Rv water tanks were half full but after being weighed by mobile rms at2.6tonne, it was time to say goodbye Prado after expensive electrical issues. The prado is overpriced compared to better 4x4s.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Prado Brakes
Hardly driven! Kids to school and Brake Disks gone lumpy. Toyota Service guy says yes it is a bit of a problem but not under Warranty! Bought a Toyota to avoid these problems.
How do you argue with a big company; they don't care if they have a problem. They need to be held accountable for problems.

excellent to drive any where
performance is terrific and very quite on road handles like a dream.plenty of leg room dash is easy to look at may be lights on gear console would help a lot. reliability is great and with long range fuel tank we fill up once a month normally unless you are touring

Over priced and unable to tow a basic load that can be towed by an MUX that can be $15,000 Cheaper
This is a great vehicle that cannot legally tow a good sized caravan.
The engine and drive train are capable.
The vehicle tare is adaquate but a smaller Isuzu MUX can out specisify this Prado's towing capacity.
Market strategist are apparent.
Owned two new but no more, much too silly for me..

Excellent car very happy
Have owned 2014 GXL Prado from new and have done 75000klms, been a great car, I get 10L/100 around town, even better on the highway driving, 150ltr fuel tank means I fill up once every 3 weeks or so. 3.0ltr engine I find has heaps of power. Very comfortable car for the seven passengers. Replaced tyres at 68000kms servicing cost great.
In the 3yrs the only things that required to be replaced was the media unit. The only disappointing part of this was it took 3 months to arrive and Toyota would only replace with a second unit. Driver side wind...Read more
ow motor required to be replaced twice, and centre console required to be replaced all done and paid for by Toyota under warranty. Due for a new car this year 2017, I have had a close look at Jeep, kluger but Prado comes up as the one every time therefore I will buy a Prado again with no concerns at all, however more likely be a VX. I am a Prado fan.1 comment

All's good so far.
in 2010, we sold our beloved 100 series and bought a Ford Ranger. I liked the Ranger but the missus was apprehensive. So, in late 2015 we decided to get another LC. However, trying to find one in good nick at a decent price is harder than you think. We opted for the less expensive and cheaper to run 150 series. We found an ex-company lease GXL with 200,000km on the clock. I know where the car came from and the type of driving it was used for, so the high K's don't bother me. It was going fine at first and then became a bit of a pig on performan...Read more
ce. The EGR was coked up..! I know this because one day I gave it a bootfull at high revs and it billowed smoke/soot like crazy. Since then, it's been cleaned out properly. Now it goes like a stabbed rat. I like the auto box and the intelligent key sensor thingy. It's easy to park and drive in the city and handles the outback roads with ease. Its a good tow vehicle too. The front seats are comfy and the ride is good (even better now I have fitted AM springs and shocks). My only criticism of the car is the rear seating. If only the centre row seats would fold right down to increase cargo space and the third row be completely removable, It would be ideal. To make it perfect, it would need a tailgate rather than the big door at the back. Other than those small niggles, it's a really good car. BTW, to those who find the trans hunting gears; Take it out of ECO mode. It'll stop trying to select the highest gear it can all the time.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Just Brilliant
Bought in May 2012 got 85000+ k's on the clock now and she has never missed a beat. Not 1 single warranty claim or part failure to date. Always serviced in conjunction with the owners books at a local workshop not a dealership.
Wouldn't buy anything else tows great, awesome diesel consumption economy.
What else can i say, quality strong car and would buy 1 again.

Prado 150 you can't go wrong
This is the second one I've had. I've done heaps of 4wd driving in the last oneand not even a rattle.I negotiate the extended fixed price service and warrenty to 170k on the new one. I've just come back from Fraser Island towing a camper trailer this is when you love the big fuel tank.Super cheap to service, cheap to run and great resale. I would not have anything else.

The Prado They Will NOT Fix
We bought our new Prado glx diesel d4d in July 2014. The car has a problem with the fresh air coming in through the dash vents. The car has been to toyota (Port Macquarie) and an indepth talk to a mechanic at another and both had the same view. Drive the car with the fresh on and it will go away. We have done this and the mouldy smell will not go away at all. I took the car to a air conditioner pro and he said there must be mould on the evapourator or the plastics and to fix it the dash will need to be taken out. Now this should be looked at ...Read more
properly by the dealer but no they do not want to even look at it. I telephoned toyota customer care 1800 no and spent the best part of 40 minutes on the phone to be told that (Sorry)they can not help me. I have know idea what to do with this car as i bought it to keep for 10 or so. I am worried about this mould smell having a bad effect on the families health. I am never going to buy another toyota as long as i live. The warranty is not worth the paper it is written on.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
The best 4 wheel drive
In 2/2013 I purchased a 150 Prado diesel auto GXL. I have a Hilux that had traveled 302000 kilometers in 4 years and did not miss a beat. Same engine as the Prado. I was very impressed with the reliability and service cost. So l bought a Prado diesel and I am very happy with it. Big fuel tank standard 150 liters 7 seats. Roof rack. Plenty of airbags. Quiet spacious. Reliable. Fix price servicing.
