Great value for money reliable, safe transport
Very happy with the yaris so far e.g driving dynamics, driving position & servicing has been fairly reasonable. For new buyers may take a while to adjust to the centrally located dash, purchased the car in the city but now living in the country handles the conditions very well 40 degree days constantly, although it is let down with no cruise control option been a 2009 model overall for me a single guy this car is perfect & toyota reliability
Reliable, fairly Economical practical car suited to my single lifestyle
The car is a little too low at the front constantly scraping when fully loaded going up driveways etc bit annoying but no obvious signs of damage, no cruise control option which the car really needs on long distance driving

Great city car!
I bought my first new car in 2009 and chose a Yaris YRS with the additional safety pack (additional airbags) This small car seemed to look like more value for money, compared to the Mazda 2 and Hyundai cars which seemed empty and cheap on the insides. The Yaris is comortable, has adjustable back seats that can fold down flat for large boot space. Excellent to park and great fuel economy. occasionally gone over the recommended Km's when servicing but every mechanic assures me you cannot kills these cars and are very well made. Gone on a few long trips, which can be annoying when there is no cruise control, but other than that it kept up the pace. Never missed a beat!
Great value for money, reliable city car.

My Wife's YRX 2007 Yaris
As the title suggest, this is a review for my wife's vehicle. I own a performance car BUT I hope this review is factual/helpful for you who are seriously considering this vehicle.
I normally reflect on the reviews of others to add to the discussion. But with the large amount of response I will just post my 5 most noteworthy PROS and CONS.
PROS
Looks - but the catch is you need the YRX model.
Space (leg/head) be that in the front/back seats.
Reasonably priced.
No issues after 110,000km.
Fuel costs and can run on E10, 91 or 95 - each noticeable differences.
CONS Other cars (in the same market) look better. The emissions control feature which raises the revs between gear changes. No real performance upgrades - just a larger motor, body kit and rims. No Cruise control option- makes long trips more annoying. Poor seating for trips longer than an hour (or so) Feel free to ask questions or for clarification on my points. Cheers (Owner of MY05 WRX) No fuss, no hidden surprises, get what you pay for. More than ever, make sure you check out all other cars in the same 'category' before buying ;-)

A great little car that represents outstanding value for money. Have done long highway trips with 2 people in car plus baggage and it performs well up hills and overtaking trucks is no drama (this is with the 1.3 L engine too). The interior is surprisingly roomy and I really like the instruments being in the centre of the dash.
Fuel economy, you get ABS, airbags, aicon, power windows, power mirrors, power steering and a better-than-avaerage CD palyer as tock standard items on the base model. Great performance on the highway and around town. ...Read more

Very, very low maintenance car
Bought new in 2006 $19900. Driven over 115k and this car has been very very forgiving. Log book service every 15-20k (instead of the recommended 10k) but used fully synthetic oil. Very stable even with second hand tyres and excess speeds in the wet. Don't know how they managed to achieve this amazing stability in such a narrow car. Fuel on the better side but air-con makes a big difference (~30% more fuel with aircon on)
I am a rather aggressive driver and have pushed on occasion the car to 165km/h and it performed very well (don't do this!). ...Read more

A good easy zippy car. Head office let them down, but otherwise I really love my car. Added rear sensors, that is missing.
Gorgeous to look at and fuel efficient. Very easy handling. Lovely comfortable seats and very roomy on the inside, for a small car. Boot space looks smal but fits a fair bit.
bad choice of colours when I bought it so had to stick with white. The head office were compltely obnoxious and rude when I had a question. As I don't reward companies with poor customer service, the next one will be a Mazda!

I had the chance to drive the Yaris when I was in Indonesia. Being in such a crowded city (Jakarta, pop 14mil), the car is easy to move around. Small economical, its fuel bill didn't cut into a holiday budget at all. The interior wasn't too bad, but its a love or hate affair. 1.5L engine great around town, stuggles a bit with the countryside. Going up hill when the car is full is a bit of a drag, but thats to be expected as its a little car. Overall a nice little car, doesn't tick all the boxes but thats always hard.

OK
this is a very economical car to run. I am not happy about the high reving at start-up. The accelerator is over sensitive and it's takes very little pressure on the pedal to go over the speed limit. The hatch has a tiny amount of boot space as you would expect but overall it's a good car for basic running around and the cost price is fairly reasonable too.
the fuel economy is really good
revs too high and so easy to go over the speed limit

It's a useful little car for those who only need to get from point A to B. Very aesthetically pleasing but I've noticed it does give out a bit when you're driving up big hills.
Small, efficient, great fuel/cost ratio, lots of cupholders (I know that doesn't seem like a big deal but the amount of times I've spilt coffee on myself before!) great speakers. They've also used the space really well by putting in lots of compartments.
Can get cramped in the back for people with longer legs, not too good for long distance drives (large freeways and up hills)

Highly recommended. We did the Nullarbor and half the East coast with ease. Packed everything in the back and, even though we were pretty stacked up with gear, it cruised along with heaps to spare. Will be changing over next year and still can't see anything that approaches it for value and quality so at this stage will be getting another one. Simply can't understand some of the other reviewers comments about the seat and door fabrics, dark colour dash (which is actually dark grey, not black), demisting issues. None of this is a problem. And as...Read more
for those who complain about the small boot space - did they not realise they were buying a small car? Have a look before you buy. In any case, it is nowhere near as bad as made out and, contrary to some comments, folding the rear seats flat is not difficult at all. Just get one of these. We have one of the first Yaris's - 2005 YRX. Very little not to like about this car. Plenty of power, good leg room (front & rear), oustanding storage throughout the vehicle, rear floor folds conpletely flat, seat fabric is excellent (almost 4 years later and not a mark on them), excellent economy. Thought the centre instrument panel would be a bit weird but it's actually safer than the conventional one - when you're glancing at your speedo etc your peripheral vision is still on the road. Aircon hasn't missed a beat and does an excellent job in Perth's summers. Sound system is excellent Very few things that you would pick on. The accelerator takes a little getting used to but that doesn't take long. Honestly can't think of anything else and we are fussy.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I have a 2008 yaris rush model. its a fantastic little car. fuel wise is incredibly fuel efficient. i drobe to melbourne and back and onlyused $70 worth of petrol. i have a 1.3 ltre engine and i have no trouble getting up to the speed limit. it goes ok up the hills just not so good on freeway but still can hit the speed limit. is a great car for just running around town in. only two cons i can think of. one is the car only has one reverse light in it so when reversing at night it doesnt light up very well so hard to see where you are reversing ...Read more

I bought my Toyota Yaris 1.3L YRS hatchback in 2007 and it has been running perfectly as my everyday car ever since. The small turning circle of the Yaris makes it easy to maneuver in tight spaces. The back seats fold down flat so you create a large floor space at the back of the car, which is great when you need to fit in lots of things. The 1.3L engine performs well and is fine for normal suburban driving but is lacking in power and struggles a bit going up steep hills. The digital speedometer is clear and easy to see and the centre place...Read more
ment is very clever as it allows you to check your speed without having to look through the steering wheel. Over the past couple of years my Yaris has proven itself to be a cool, reliable, useful car and I hope it can keep going for many years to come. Great turning circle, able to the back seats flat, fuel economy, digital speedometer Lacks power, quality of the plastics on the dashboard isn't that greatSimilar opinion? I've had my YRS Yaris for over 3 years and have never regretted my decision. Brought it as a single city girl and it still suits me as a farmer's wife with 2 step sons. A great second car for popping to the shops and running the kids around. It's my car of choice for errands to the city (wish it had cruise control though). Have had some quite tall people in the back with no probs. I feel like it is made just for me.
The perfect small car. Great for short (or short-legged) people. Easy to park. Deceptively roomy for back passengers. Style and accessories.
Wasn't able to get cruise control. Over taking up hills (with an overtaking lane of course!). Unsealed roads.

I bought the 2007 1.5L hatch brand new. In the 3 yrs I've driven it (25,000km), it's been 100% reliable which is the major factor for me. I find I can overtake 95% of vehicles on the road which suits me perfectly (until I can afford a sports car). I get 100km for 8.5L fuel. 2-door fits 4 people comfortably, but 4-door would be easier to get in/out of the back. I always reverse park because modern cars have poor turning circle & poor visibility of corners. Being so compact it can squeeze in the tiniest spaces - perfect for city parking. The ...Read more
centrally located dash display and sound control buttons on the steering wheel enables safer driving. There is no lack of storage compartments. Very easy to fold down the back seats - I can fit my road bike in the back. Service is under $200. Toyota are ahead of other carmakers when it comes to safety and customer satisfaction. Despite their recent problems I'm still loyal to Toyota. Reliable, practical, fuel-efficient, easy to park car. Still quiet at high speeds. Spacious for 2 people. Seats 4 quite comfortably. Lots of storage for such a small car. No display on dash to say what gear you're in. Took me a while to get used to automatic gear stick which I kept putting into Third gear instead of Drive (and wondering why engine was so noisy)- they're right next to each other. Air-con smelled mouldy from brand new.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

The Yaris feels like a very solidly build and reliable car. For a small car it is very nice to drive and inside feels very modern and stylish. It is a very comfortable drive and quite roomy for a hatchback. The boot is quite large in size. These cars are quite economical and very nice to drive long distance. Definitely more comfortable than most small cars out there.
Reliable, nice to drive, has a lot of style, comes in nice colours. Good book size and very easy to get from a to b in. Easy to park being so small.
Can be a bit expensive but is a very nice car.

I've owned this car for over a year now, and so far no problems have been found at any of the checkups. Mine is a automatic 5DR yaris 1.5L engine. Fuel efficiency and reliability are the best features of the yaris. It can get expensive to get checkups at Toyota though.
Fuel efficiency, leg space in the rear seats, reliability. Seats are comfortable. Easy to turn. Lots of storage space.
Smash test results show that the car is quite fragile when hit, although it is quite common for small cars like this. The air con sometimes has a funny smell.

This is a great car. Great for the city parking but perfect for longer trips out of the city too. I do wish we had bought the 4 door option. Pulling the front passenger seat forward all the time gets annoying.
Great little car. Impressed my Barina-driving mother with the extra boot space when folding the seats down and moving them forward! Perfect city get-about. Easy on fuel, easy to park, services are cheap too. Speedo is big and digital - so easy to read!
I wish it had a bit more power.

The benefits of a cab forward design.
I'm very impressed with our automatic Yaris. I bought it for my wife, then found myself using excuses to drive it more often than my own car!! Why? Because it's so well designed and drives so effortlessly.
The cab forward design means that the base of the windscreen is further forward than usual on a car, resulting in a short bonnet and a large sloping windscreen that rakes back at quite a low angle and contributes to its very stylish shape. Combine this with a low beltline that dips as it reaches the front of the car and you have an enormo...Read more
us glasshouse that makes the car a pleasure to see out of. I see so much more out of this car, that it reminds me of sitting in a Tarago, with its deep dashboard and extra visibility. Talking about dashboards, the Yaris has the most storage compartments I've ever seen on a car. There's three gloveboxes (two passenger, one driver), another smaller opening compartment on the driver's side, two cupholders that open out of the dash, two more pockets either side of the HVAC controls, door pockets large enough to take bottles, plus another two in the rear! Oh, and in case that wasn't enough, Toyota still decided you might need another small shelf under the steering wheel!! I wonder why other manufacturers can't do the same! The centre mounted dash may take some time to readjust to, but it's worth it! It's designed to be easily seen without shifting your eyes far from the road, and it's large, legible digital speedo is a delight to see. (Pity it reads about 5km/h too high) The bar graph tacho is a bit gimicky and harder to read at a glance. Digital fuel gauge is easy to read, but there's no temperature gauge, just a COOL warning word when the engine is cold. If the car overheats, a HOT warning sign will appear! Economy is fairly good at 7l/100km around town, and the 1.3 litre engine does an admirable job at propelling the Yaris along. But what a pity it's almost impossbile to hold it at a constant speed. It may be the way the auto is calibrated, but it tends to "hunt" up and down in speed, requiring a lot of effort to just cruise along whilst constantly monitoring the speedo. This issue seems to be a problem that other owners also report encountering.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

This is a great car. My partner and I went to holden, hyundai, suzuki, kia, mitsubishi, mazda, ford and looked and played with all the equivalent sized and priced cars.
Most cars had no legroom if the front seat was back. Only the Yaris had a slide to enable you to bring forward or back the rear seats (may not be a big thing, but if you have a box that's only just too big for the back... you can slide the seats forward rather than having to convert it to a flat space.
The headrests on the back seat sliding back into the seat is the best....Read more

Great little car- to many included options- would like to choose to include or save the extra money.
Too expensive to service- don't dare take it to anyone other than th dealer because it's got more than a few bits and bobs even they were puzzled about. Their mechanics may have needed to get a bit more updated training.
The price is right/ features are impressive- ABS/ power windows/ air- all standard for zilch.
The well appointed base model was too well appointed.
I don't need power windows or air.
I'd have liked to un-option them and save ...Read more
