It uses little fuel. It can park anywhere and is simple to steer. It has the most storage compartments I have ever seen in a light car (3 in-dash comparments, middle compartment and several drink holders). It is also a Toyota, one of the highest quality and most reliable manufacturers (even including the recent recall).
Sadly, the drive is boring. It makes driving a real chore, there's absolutely no excitement anywhere in this car. Also, the manual clutch is horrible and even an experienced driver will have trouble mastering it. Be prepared...Read more
for a lot of stalling at the lights and everywhere else. Overall, if you're a rational person you should probably get this car. If you're someone with a little more passion for life and/or enjoys driving you definitely should never get this car. Economical Practical Reliable Toyota Boring, boring, boring! Bad clutchSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Purchased June, 2010 - thankfully not my main drive, so I can cope with driving it occasionally. Wish we'd bought the 1500 or gone that bit extra and invested in the Corolla.
Very spacious 'little' car. Good looking too. Plenty of rear leg room and comfort for all passengers. (5 door model) Loads of little storage compartments. Very economical to run.
Do not like the position of the clutch - your foot rubs against the side of the footwell. Can't come to terms with engaging the clutch to start the engine. Very 'highly' geared. Stalls easi...Read more

We've got the YR (base model) 1.5 5 door which does the job...used mostly for commuting to work. It struggles a bit when used for family outings or trips due to its size and engine. But still a great car, I have recently recommended this car to my wife's best friend.
Economical, cute little car. Does the job and comes with reasonable safety features as standard. We've done around 30,000kms and had no problems with it at all, it's been very reliable and easy to drive and park anywhere. Wife loves the digital speedo/display thingy.
It's a bit small for a family of 4, especially if we need to cart any luggage around. Also the engine (1.3 man) is lacking in power and you need a fairly long stretch of clear road to consider overtaking.

Excellent
The Toyota Yaris Hatch runs on the smell of an oily rag! Following a 600 + km round trip over two days it needed only 26 litres to refill the tank! This tight little drive sits well, without tremour against heavy passing traffic; a smooth ride with fantastic suspension. Comfortable seats make long drives comfotable, with ample, well organised and efficient storage spaces. The fabulous manouvreablity Toyota Yaris Hatch has in tight spots can't be emphasised enough. This economical little machine holds its own in inner city traffic, on busy ...Read more
city freeways and, surprisingly, even withstands the rigours of rough rural terrain! Highly recommend! Fantastic on fuel!!! Tight, neat, compact with ample storage compartments. Manouvreablity in tight traffic is fantastic. Comfortable seating. Classy chassis. This little button of a machine has no cons. She purrs like a cat, cuddles like a kitten and runs like a manx!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

A great little car, cheap to run and very reliable. I love it. I do think the design need s some slight modifications to make it safer, for example, the rear window blind spot needs to be addressed along with boot size, apart from this I think it's a fantastic little car, and good value for the price.
Extremely economical, 600km to the tank! I can get to Melbourne and back on half a tank of petrol, which I find amazing. Cheap to run and the service is second to none. Car feels sturdy and safe. The seats are comfortable, even on long drives...Read more

We have two new Yaris's at work. It is impossible to drive either of them at a constant speed - both of them either accelerate or decellerate, there is no balance point where you can maintain a constant speed. The steering is vague, and I wouldn't want to be in an accident in one - there's very little to protect you. I can't understand why anyone would buy one of these voluntarily.
Quiet, reasonably comfortable, fuel efficient.
Under-powered engine in auto transmission is almost dangerous. Sound system is dreadful.

I love this car. Super cheap to run and easy to drive and park. The car is not a family car as it is three door, so don't complain about it not being suitable for kids (if you want to cart kids around or passengers in the backseat all the time, get the 5 door). Services are on the pricey side but that is the norm these days for new cars. The inside of the doors need to be vinyl as the material is hard to keep clean and gets wet. I tested all the small cars when I got my Yaris and found the Yaris to be the best on the market (the Honda Jazz was...Read more
equivalent but cost of maintaining, registering and insuring them are much higher). A bit more expensive than others but far better quality (you get what you pay for). I love all the extras and don't regret buying it for a minute. Quiet on road, mega cheap on fuel, great to drive Material on inside of doors, clutch touchy which makes it stall easySimilar opinion? Overall, I love my yaris YRS. I've had it now for 2 years. It's great. It's small on the outside but big on the inside. It's great for parking as you can always get into any tight spots, especially in the city! I don't use that much petrol with it either. I usually fill up once a week and only $20 and it gets me to work (although I don't work very far.. 30 mins away) and run a few errands locally. So it's pretty good. Love it. Except sometimes I wish it has a little bit more engine power.
Small, very cute design. Very spaceious inside. Fuel economic.
Not enough boot space (just a little bit small). Not enough power in the engine

Overall a great car which is easy to drive and fairly fuel efficient. The car also feels more solid than some other hatchbacks which makes it a pleasure to ride in.
I love this car because it is so easy to drive and park. The steering is incredibly comfortable and the car is very easy to manouvre. I like the display (although it did take me a while to get used to having it in the middle of the dashboard). I also really like the fact that the stereo includes a CD player and an MP3 player. There is also lots of room in the back seat, so that over...Read more

I have had my Yaris 2007 for 6 months and I love it. I always prefer a manual car, and this one has enough room to carry 2 adults and 3 children in the back quite comfortably. It it so fuel efficient - I get about 650km per tank - which at the moment is about $35-$40 to fill. Costs less to register and less to service. Boot space is quite small, though the back seats can be lowered and pushed forward, so in fact, a lot can fit into the car. Even with 1 passenger in the back, the other seat can be lowered and pushed forward to create more space. I am extremely happy with my Yaris!
Fantastic fuel efficiency, spacious interior for a small car, reliability, easy to drive.
Black interior. Easy to mark.

Owned a Yaris 3 door YR Manual for 2.5years and racked up 75,000 kms. I was so impressed with everything - exceeded all my expectations. Great quick gearbox, direct steering, hadles fantastically and predictably with some bigger wheels and tyres. Love the dash display, storage places, fold flat boot and... well... everything! Can't fault it if you're after a small 2wd car. Only sold sadly to have space for 5 with luggage and some off road ability. The only things the Yaris lacks! Oh it isn't blistering off the line by any means - but not...Read more
too slow either if you giveit revs - and it loves to rev all day long! I had a tow bar - but forget towing anything much! Loved my Yaris. Handling, fuel economy, features, dashboard. Could do with a bit more power.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Hi Natalie, Although I'm no expert it sounds like your problem may be electrical. Just another suggestion, if you are a member of the RACV they have a technical department who can give you advice might be worth a try. sorry for your trouble.

Advice on a 2007 toyota yaris that I am thinking of buying. Kilometers is sitting on 149000, price is $9000. Cars looks in good condition, is this a reasonable price or should I try to negotiate to have price dropped?
