They did contact me Carolyn and asked me to send them the barcode details. I unpack my 100 extra strong tea bags into a tea caddy so didnt have the box. They made it sound like my box was a one off but as we all know that is not the case because the bags have been getting steadily cheaper. I ignored them and have changed brands.

I have always enjoyed twinings earl grey tea. I bought some recently and got the new brown label variety. I know other people don’t like it, and it certainly doesn’t taste like earl grey, but I love it!!!

I returned my last box to Woolworths and they refunded my money. I told them it was not what I have been buying for 40 years. If everyone takes their boxes back for a refund maybe Twinings will expedite their so called aim to "return the tea to its original flavour".

Are the yellow tagged earl grey tea bags gone forever? I have bought three large boxes that have no indication that they are different from the outside. It is only when you open them that you can see the tag colour and they all have brown tags and taste different. I have drunk yellow tag earl grey tea for as long as I can remember (I am 68). Perhaps a graphic on the outside of the box showing the tea bag (colour) would avoid the waste (those who are happy with the brown tags could buy them fully informed, those not can choose something else). For me if the brown bags are the new Twinings Earl Grey I will be looking for something new to drink.

Exactly the same as the above. It is definitely not the tea of old, hopefully just a batching error or we will see the tea return to normal ASAP

The only tea I drink, is Twinings Earl Grey which I have done for the last twenty five years. I have just finished opening three boxes of T. Earl Grey 100 teabags, none of which taste like Earl Grey, and none of which contained Early Grey- there is no bergamot flavour or light colour, just dark liquid and mushroomy flavour. AWFUL!! Two of the boxes contained tea bags with brown tags, and 1 box with earl grey tags. Does anyone know what is going on? I will return the boxes to Woolworths despite not having kept the receipt. Even regular tea drinkers found it unpleasant. Does anyone know what is going on?

I have found the same situation rs brown tags and strong tea. The tea is horrible snd definetely isnt earl grey. After reading others responses on this topic it sounds widespread.

I love Twinings “Morning Tea” & “Afternoon Tea” it’s the best or has been until last night when I opened a recently purchased box of 100 Morning Tea bags. The brown label was a shock and the tea tasted awful and a strange colour. So I went online to find out why but could only find these reviews. So I went through my pantry and found the previous box of Morning Tea and found the answer. The original tea bags with the aqua tags were “blended and packed in China” these new ones with brown tags are “blended and made in Poland” ! Why did Twinings change?

I just opened a box of Lady Grey and the tags are brown. The tea smells and tastes different and it's weak.
I don't know which supermarket i bought them from as I buy them on special when I see them when I'm out.

I’ve never had lady grey tea so I can’t answer that question! My problem was with twinings English breakfast tea but since my post I’ve got to say they have gone back to their old self perfect cup of tea

We had the same experience. The lady grey tea bags with the brown labels. The tea was horrible. We contacted Twinings and they said the brown labels had come from China but had no explanation for the actual tea. They are sending a satchel for us to return the offending tea for quality control to inspect and they will replace it. Stay tuned.

I returned a box of Lady Grey today to Woolworths, I opened box to find brown labels of something other than Lady Grey, no comparison with taste. Got a full refund, only to find the next box was the same. Has to be a packaging error or a major oversight by Twinings quality control. Not good!!

The response from Twinings was that they have changed processing sites. Labels are in the change process but no changes to their recipes. I'm not sure about that. The Lady Grey was more like an Orange Pekoe Checking the box the "new" box was produced in Poland. The previous box was produced in China. I will be taking my new box back to Woolworths but I won't be buying another

I just bought Lady Grey tea bags yesterday and they do not taste the same. Even the smell is different. Not as aromatic. This is the only tea that I drink. But I might have to change.

I have just opened a box of Lady Grey Teabags, 100 pack, and they have the plain brown labels. They don't taste like Lady Grey either? Have the wrong tea bags been put in the box or is the new "Lady Grey" flavour?
Kind regards, Liz

I don’t understand your question! I complained about the quality of your breakfast tea, not that it had been Mis packaged purely that it tastes like cheap brands and doesn’t seem to be getting any better.

Please can you advise me why the colour of the extra strong tea bag label has been changed from red to brown. There is no labelling on the brown one to what the tea is. Has the tea changed? as it does taste very different.

I’ve found the exact same thing!!! Hate the brown ‘old’ looking tags, I checked the box twice when I opened it thinking I might have gotten a really old box. And the tea def tastes different!!! I buy the extra strong and it’s weaker than usual. I’ve also noticed the actual tea bags look dirtier and not the usual crisp white bag. Strange that there’s been no mention of the changes.

This is the reply I got from them yesterday after calling them. Thank you for your enquiry and apologies for any confusion caused.

We have recently made a change in manufacturing sites, and our tea tag colours have transitioned temporarily as part of this process.

It is important to note that there has been no change to our tea formulas as part of this site transition. However, thank you for your feedback and as part of our quality assurance we would like to investigate. We would like to replace your product for you and if possible, retrieve any remaining tea bags you have to assist in the testing progress.

If you have any remaining product, please kindly contact our customer care team on [email protected] and they will be able to followup. If you have any best before details and batch codes this would be a great help.

Thanks again, and apologies again for any confusion.

We are just about to taste our tea this morning with the new tags. I was reluctant to decant in case they had put the wrong type of tea into the extra strong box.

Ive been buying Twinings English Breakfast Tea for many years now (100pack boxes) and I recently noticed that some tea bags have a very chemical taste to them. I originally thought it was the milk I was adding, but no its not. My boss buys the large boxes too, from a totally different area to me, and I notice the same thing at work. Has anyone else complained of this or is it just me?

Yes, I have found the taste to be different too, thinking it was perhaps the milk also. I have asked why the tag on the extra strong tea has been changed from red to brown, with no wording on the new tag as to say if it is extra strong or not. Will wait to see if it is addressed by the company.

I also have bought a box of my usual tea, extra strong English Breakfast, and puzzled over the change from the red to flimsy brown labels which contain no information about the tea. There is a change in the flavour - it is no longer extra strong despite many attempts to brew the tea longer, limit the amount of milk etc. Even the stain in my cup is not as pronounced! Something is not right and Twinings need to be honest about why this change has occurred. It is not a cheap tea but it is tasting like one.

I have noticed the tea with the brown tags definitely tastes different! I have gone from this being my favourite tea for many years to now not liking it at all ! And no mention on the box of anything different! What a shame.... time to find a new English breakfast tea.
