Awful, have now sent out incorrect loan documents twice
Awful experience, applying for a new loan. ubank has now sent out my loan contract for a new mortgage twice with incorrect details on it, the first contract was for a fixed rate when I was after variable, now the second contract still has references to fixed rates (including fees being charged for the fixed rate and fees for valuations, even though ubank tell me there are no fees). Additionally they're asking for buildings insurance equal to the cover amount. They don't seem to understand that the cost to rebuild a house is probably different to the mortgage amount.

Cannot trust this bank
Cannot trust this bank. holding my own saved money for more than 5 days just because we failed to give them the security answers in 1 go (no alternative option) and no appropriate reply from the bank. We have to go to post office to do our identity check and the whole process is absolutely time consuming. If you are planning to open the bank account for savings purposes - bad idea. Stay away from them.

Apparently my voice sounded younger than my 71 years, so would not deal with me
I have been with UBank for many years. Yesterday I phoned to explain I was changing banks and therefore needed to provide details of the new BSB and account number from which the AutoSavingsPlan money was to be debited. After identifying myself with name, date of birth, address and age, the UBank teleperson said my voice did not sound like a person of my age and that I hesitated when asked my age, and for that reason she would not continue with my call and I would need to go to a post office to identify myself. I was so angry. I asked if I ...Read more
phoned them when I had a cold, and my voice was not recognized would I be in the same situation. She responded "we don't use voice identification"- this was purely her call as to whether or not I sounded like a 71 year old (however a 71 year old is supposed to sound!!) When the call began, there was no much background noise I had difficulties hearing her. That did improve during the call. I have been researching other online banks and my considerable savings will most likely be leaving UBank.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Ok if you are not in a hurray & OK with being frustrated
This is a no frills online bank account with minimal bells and whistles and minimal support, it is with these saving that they are able to offer higher returns on interest I suppose. I tried to receive a Swift wire transfer from my over seas account and it was rejected luckily I have a brick & Mortar bank and was able to use my Commonwealth bank as backup. Glad I was not in a hurry as it took over a week to get rejected, and when I called today for an explanation on a Friday the Indian call center said their website was down and that I would ha...Read more
ve to call back next week. Also they do not offer Osko instant bank transfers like the big banks. If you lower your expectations way down I find this helps with the many disappointments that are bound to come.

Good interest but very unreliable web site
Been using them for a long time as the interest rate is better than most other banks.
But hard to keep track of with the two accounts - why so complex?
And I reckon at least 50% of the time when I go to check my account the website is down

Poor online ability to login
I like everything about this online bank. We joined after reading Scot Pape's Barefoot Investor. It was good we accrued money we probably wouldn't have. BUT it is so frustrating when I try to logon and it says "Session timed out" and i haven't even logged in. Or it not available! Do they constantly have to shut down because of cyber security threats?

Ubank - are you reviewing these comments.
I recently refinanced my home loan to UBank, as they do offer an attractive rates!
But the customer service....seriously....how bad can you get? From start to finish, I was constantly chasing them up at each step to find out what was happening and to keep the process moving. I couldn't reach the right person most times and they never called back? Eventually got there in the end, but it took way too long, particularly the settlement phase. Even now, they do things that completely frustrate me, like simply trying to cancel a direct debit that is superseded by a pay credit.
Calling on all Ubank bosses, start contacting customers and seek honest feedback. It might not be pretty, but at least then you can fix it.

Stay away...far far away
Have been trying for two months to get access to my accounts after changing my mobile number. It’s like I’m playing a game where the prize is access to my own money. What kind of bank only has one method of updating personal information. My money won’t be there once I’ve finally got access to it again.

Just don't bother
I changed my mobile number about a couple of years ago and wanted to move my money out, however, the account has been made inactive and the pain to activate it is just ridiculous as it's all done via the POST system and you can't see any one. Go to a bricks and mortar bank.

organised phone call appointment yet never call 3 times - useless
Ubank made many appointments to call me yet never called. Inconsiderate and unprofessional. Wasting my time. Ubank is owned by NAB so of course, they are behaving as NAB would.

Just good for home loan rate
Yes, it is as bad as the other reviews make it out to be. So what are they good for? keep your transaction account elsewhere and only have your homeloan here. Keep it simple to avoid any contact with the bank, and maybe the lowest interest rates will be worth it .
Problems:
- Online bank with a terrible terrible online experience.
- Online banking will allow you to login in from IE and not from Chrome intermittently.
- management of home loan online options looks to be through a 3rd party, and requires another login. Clunky.
- Sometimes you c...Read more

Worst Online Bank I've Ever Dealt With
I recently tried to sign up for a USaver account and accidentally put in one wrong digit on my mobile number. Rang customer service (took 10 minutes to answer) and was told I'd have to wait another 3-5 days to have a verification letter sent via mail just to sort out a simple problem. So I literally can't access my account until I get the SMS for a temp password to login. Why can't I register a password during the application process like every other website in existence? Imagine what UBank would be like in a crisis situation. Avoid at ALL costs, not worth the higher interest rate.

Poor communication and careless
I was attracted to the home loan rates and decided to go for pre-approval. The process was painful and sometimes I felt they took longer than usual time to do something like credit check even though it was couple borrowing the loan with no previous loan and more than average market income and asking for 75% loan. Apparently they forgot to extend my conditional approval and day after expiry they sent an apology email asking they cant do extension and expect a new application and credit check. Decided not to pursue them. Poor customer management I would say.

Poor across the board - only thing going for them is rate
Previous home loan customer with them. It was like pulling teeth to get the loan back in 2011, even worse now. Failed to process my first application. Failed to return phone call despite taking details. Dismissive online/FB communication. Eventually got an appointment to find out they won't lend for a new property. This despite an LVR of around 35%, excellent income and lending track record. Never again, Ubank!

Beware of putting money in! Caused me to incur charges in credit card payment
[Applied online for USaver] Waited on queue for at least 25 mins. Support NOT helpful, didn't even bother checking on my issue. UBank allows money to be put in but not withdraw until the manual verification is done. Manual verification takes a long time. Reason I got stuck with manual ID verification: online application form did not recognise my IDs, looks like a glitch in their system. My experience with Up is a whole lot better.
Used it to pay my credit card but it got cancelled causing me to incur charges.

Pretty Poor for an online bank
For an online-only bank, uBank has really lacked behind in its digital platforms.
The website is outdated and not great with Modern Browsers.
The most frustrating thing at the moment is that OSKO, NPP and PayID have been released for almost a year and there is still no word on when this vital technology will be introduced.
Another bugbear for me was that it took ages for the Android app to catch up to the level of the Apple app which was very frustrating.
All in all the highish interest rate was the only redeeming factor and the product is good but as for the Bank itself is not great and I have elected to move my finances elsewhere.

Used to be not too bad, awful now
Their main advantage is the ability to pay directly from a savings account, something that all banks should have.
They also used to have a good savings rate. Not anymore.
Internet banking used to be acceptable, now requires me to clean browser cookies every time I need to log in. Mobile app - was promising, recently got superseded by another one that is not any better.
Attempted to get a home loan from them - filled the application, scheduled a call, went through plenty of details over the phone only to accidentally learn halfway through the call that they don't finance new houses. Seriously? This should've been the very first question during the application process. Wasted lots of time and now not sure I'll get my financing on time.

Ubank internet banking extremely poor
Ubank has to have the worst internet banking platform on the planet- it's 2020 in a few weeks and I can't understand how a company backed by the nab could be so bad at it.
It constantly won't let you log in.
It's extremely slow
Sometimes it doesn't load
I called them about it and they didn't seem to give two craps

Great rates but a bit patience is needed
We had been a UBank home loan client until we sold the property earlier this month. We are now refinancing our current home loan to UBank again. I have found UBank to be really great with their loan interest rates and so generous passing on the full rate cut each time unlike the big 4 or many other lenders. The last time when we refinanced to UBank it did take a couple of months for the process to complete. This time around, however, I have found UBank to be rather responsive to be honest, especially given the current rush time for loan applica...Read more
tions due to record low rates available. It took a week for their specialist to call, but then notification emails followed merely a couple of days later with request of a list of documents to be uploaded. In my opinion, UBank's home loan products are super competitive and suitable for applicants who are not pressed for time. Perhaps a refinance to UBank would be a better choice rather than for a purchase. I have never dealt with UBank for day to day banking so cannot comment on their services in other departments.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Is the variable rate for existing customers the same as their published rates for new customers?
for example right now it is 3.09%, is this the rate for a customer who joined 6 months ago on a different rate ?
1 answer
As long as your loan is of a variable rate then you should get whatever the current variable rate. We did each time when there was a rate cut.
