Ubank internet banking extremely poor
Ubank has to have the worst internet banking platform on the planet- it's 2020 in a few weeks and I can't understand how a company backed by the nab could be so bad at it.
It constantly won't let you log in.
It's extremely slow
Sometimes it doesn't load
I called them about it and they didn't seem to give two craps

Great rates but a bit patience is needed
We had been a UBank home loan client until we sold the property earlier this month. We are now refinancing our current home loan to UBank again. I have found UBank to be really great with their loan interest rates and so generous passing on the full rate cut each time unlike the big 4 or many other lenders. The last time when we refinanced to UBank it did take a couple of months for the process to complete. This time around, however, I have found UBank to be rather responsive to be honest, especially given the current rush time for loan applica...Read more
tions due to record low rates available. It took a week for their specialist to call, but then notification emails followed merely a couple of days later with request of a list of documents to be uploaded. In my opinion, UBank's home loan products are super competitive and suitable for applicants who are not pressed for time. Perhaps a refinance to UBank would be a better choice rather than for a purchase. I have never dealt with UBank for day to day banking so cannot comment on their services in other departments.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

No customer service absolutely arrogant
Attempted to change a loan to an investment interest rate interest only - took them weeks to get back only to say in the worst broken language - indecipherable (almost pidgin).
They are condescending and lazy. Avoid these clowns at all costs

Be wary of using this bank
If you are dealing with amounts over $20000, stay away from this bank. They make it very difficult to make any transactions above this value. They have a whole lot of rules to protect themselves and hide behind the rules. I had a deposit of $300 000 recently in my account for one day and they stopped paying me interest for the ENTIRE MONTH and held on to my money for weeks. The amount was already cleared. I spend hours and hours on the phone with them getting promises from them but no action.

deposit towards buying a property, it was the same issue. I almost lost a sale because I could not come up with the deposit in time. UBank is unethical and can not be trusted. They all all very keen to take your money, but make it very difficult to get it back.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Terrible service and a disappointing experience
Applied middle August to refinance an existing loan (with another bank) because Ubank offered great interest rates. The documentation and detail requested is far greater than other banks but I was grudgingly willing to go along with it. After approval they still asked for more documentation (which was already supplied albeit in a different format).
Finally got a contract to sign a couple months later - with incorrect interest rate! After questioning it, got another contract to sign. Two weeks later got yet another contract to sign as their t...Read more
erms and conditions have changed and the one I signed was no longer valid. Then the waiting continued. Some chase-up emails later I was told that they are still waiting for settlement date (?). Finally in December I sent an email requesting to cancel the loan application as I simply had enough of delays. My main concern was if I am to sell the property at a future date chances are I will lose the sale due to the slowness and unresponsiveness of the bank. Got no reply. Sent another email a few days later to everyone I was ever in contact with at both Ubank and their settlements office. Still no reply, however my loan application had now disappeared from the online portal. A few days later sent yet another email saying I am assuming application was cancelled and will treat it as such. Finally got a reply that yes it was cancelled. Most painful, stressful experience with any bank I ever had to deal with. Please do not deal with them.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
DO NOT USE!!!
We approached UBank for a investment loan refinance combined with pre-approval for a new residential loan, we sent in all the required supporting documents (you know payslips, bank balances etc etc) and details of the loan configuration desired (ie split/fixed/offset/term etc etc). Got a call back after a week.
The CSR who called had not read the email, claimed he had no access to it or to any of the documents provided. He was going to fill in the application for the investment loan and then request the self same documents we had already pro...Read more
vided. I said no, that is not what we need and explained again what I had already detailed in my email of a week before. No, he could not help with that. OK so can I speak to someone who can help? No. He would get someone to call me back next week. No, I need to resolve this today - I have already waited a week. Well he could not do that, he was very happy to go on about what he could not do. OK so I hung up and raised an online complaint. After a few hours I got a call back from a "team leader". Went through it all over again. Ah says the TL you have to apply TWICE (duh!), so I did a second application. But then they got totally confused, I think they thought I wanted to make two purchases (I do not - we own the investment property) anyway the bottom line is: If your situation is anything other than pure vanilla and you want a customised loan that fits your needs and a provider who listens and can take account of your individual situation don't bother with UBank.Similar opinion? Do yourself a favour and find another bank.
If you open an account you will need to verify your identity, if the online verification fails which did for us because the website link did not work you will need to do an Australia post Verification, we did this and they lost the form, Customer service online and on the phone were no help whatsoever.
If this happens you will not be able to access your funds. After 4 weeks being locked out of our account we still have not been able to withdrawal or transfer money from our account.
Worst bank on the market in my opinion with absolutely no customer service.

Terrible service
1. 6 weeks ago I verified my new address and phone number so that I could open a new account
2. Opened account and trasferred all of money there because I was told it would take a week for me to receive my card
3. They sent it to my old address
4. I cancelled the card and asked for it all to be sent to my new address
5. Card received 2 weeks ago
6. No pin code was sent
7. I called again asking for the pin, it's been now over a week and I have not received the pin code
Have had to call so many times. On hold for 30 minutes
Its archaic that UBank is relying on the postal system for this. Other banks let you change the pin online.

Virtually no customer service
Applied to refinance, attached all personal documents for application and said wait 3-5 days for a call back. Three weeks later still nothing . There customer service line is literally a voice recording to say if it's not important hung up and speak to a bot online. This was unsuccessful.

Frustrating Hour
I have been with UBank for 5 years. I have an SMSF saver account. I just want to open up another account online but I get a technical server error box. I have just spent a super frustrating time failing to sort it out. I couldn't find a helpline number on the site so I had to google it. After waiting 15 mins (at 14.00 hrs they were unusually busy - really?) I hung up. I noticed that a chat box had popped up on the site. The guy was helpful but wanted to know all the details of the server error box which was now not available because I had logged out and logged in again. I could not replicate the error because another site error was preventing me ARRRRRRGGGGGH! I will just transfer all of my money to an acct I have with another bank

a very frustrating process dealing with UBank
I have been communicating with Ubank for refinancing one of my investment loan since Oct 2022 but there is no major progress in my application. It has been really a frustrating process dealing with UBank. Really not recommend to go with Ubank if you don't have enough patience.

Customer service - on hold
I have been with UBank for about 2 years. On hold time more than 40 minutes, then they hang up without answering. There is no communication in recorded messages as to wait times. At least have a call back facility.

Non existent customer service
I have been with Ubank for about 2 years - the same amount of time I have been on hold on the phone. Terrible customer service by 12 year olds (it seems) who have absolutely no idea what they are doing. I'm out.

Woeful - can't think of any reason to stay
Banked with ubank for 2+ years. Fixed dep & savings account. Tried to do a BPAY from a savings account and app won't let me. Can do a Transfer but not BPAY. Rather put your money in a shoebox under the bed. At least you get access to it when you need it

Went from great to terrible.
I joined Ubank when they first opened years ago. The customer service, rates and online banking used to be excellent, but it has all gone downhill. Recently I bought a house and had major problems transferring the deposit from my Ubank account into the agent's trust account. Everything was in place but Ubank was holding up the sale. I was furious. Despite calling them and reporting the IT issues with online banking, they were less than helpful. In the end I had to do it through my wife's account. Needless to say I will never bank with Ubank again. I have moved all my money to another bank that has good customer service and an online interface that actually works...! Be warned!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
If, like myself you fall victim to the good rates this NAB outfit advertises then please learn from everyone else's mistakes and bank elsewhere. I've sadly banked with UBank for two years to earn bonus interest and take advantage of having a second account. I've learnt that customer service is non-existent, the platform is incredibly outdated and if you need to move money quick, just forget about it as they are still using outdated transfer methods which you would not believe!
Please avoid at all costs to avoid extra stress in your life. It's been a mission just closing my damn accounts!

Almost impossible to do business with
It is extremely difficult to do business with UBank. They seem to not like to answer queries posted through their secure mail facility and their telephone service is almost non-existent. I served two 2 requests on 7 Mayember and 8 Mayember 2022 and have not received a reply to either.
I made contact via the 13 number on 8 Mayember, a Friday, but the person I spoke to was unable to help so promised to escalate my matter to someone who could. I waited all of Mon, all of Tuesday and as of 5.49 pm on Wed 13 May 2022, neither of my queries hav...Read more
e been answered so I can only conclude that my stuff is not even within sight of the priority list, let alone on it. I have a view that balance of funds in account is actually my money, but UBank seems most reluctant to permit me to access any of it, so it seems to me that they look upon it as theirs. Can someone please advise how I can contact the Banking Ombudsman? I need to get this resolved.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Outdated online platforms
It's understandable there's been a lot of scrutiny over banks lately. UBank, however, appears to be using this as an opportunity to be overly risk-averse and punish their loyal customers.
For an online-only bank, their systems don't use the modern technology that you'd expect for an online bank (PayID, Real-time payments, online identity verification, etc). The online banking platform is frequently down for maintenance with long outage windows. Dealing with their customer service team is an absolute nightmare. They are very inflexible, with ou...Read more
tdated, manual processes for just about everything. It should be pointed out that their interest rates are still much better than traditional banks. However, a quick online search will reveal they're starting to lose this competitive edge, especially in the online-only banking category.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Slow and painful.
The hold time is always extensive, email take excessive time to respond. Settlement process required contant follow up. Inexperienced staff. Inflexible, box tickers looking for any excuse to hold things up. Its like dealing with offshore call centre. When things are ticking along and you don't need assistance its fine, rates are competitive but other than that they are hard work. Was with them for 5 years, I have 20plus years in finance and the service is appalling.

Great rates Below Average Service
We were attracted to their rates and wanted to refinance. We then applied online for Home Loan and gave all information. Loan Manager then asked for information to be repeated, failed to contact on time arranged and failed to send emails. Contact was staggered and despite holding email address on file failed to send promised emails twice. Overall they are reliable with automated products; people skills below average.

Is the variable rate for existing customers the same as their published rates for new customers?
for example right now it is 3.09%, is this the rate for a customer who joined 6 months ago on a different rate ?
1 answer
As long as your loan is of a variable rate then you should get whatever the current variable rate. We did each time when there was a rate cut.
