To mute all sounds tap on the Blue symbol in the top RH corner of the Map screen. At the bottom LH corner of the new screen you will see the speaker icon. Tap on that and a red cross will cover it indicating that sound is now muted. You will also see the volume slider next to it if you just want to reduce the volume. If you want to mute the voice but not other sounds/warnings, tap on the tools icon on the "home" screen. Next you will see "Sounds and Warnings". Tap on that then again on "Volume". Now you will see the individual sliders for all sounds. Adjust as desired.

I am sorry but I have never tried to add extra maps so have not come up against this problem.

I just plugged mine into the PC with USB cord and went to the Uniden site and found the updates...

Hello Wayne. I am not really sure what you mean by that but suggest that you try a Reset with the button on the LHS. Other than that I don't know.

I am sorry buit I have never had this problem. What does the warning say? POI is, of course, Points of Interest. Perhaps that file has been corrupted somehow. If you have a backup of your IGO files perhaps you could restore it to Factory and start again. I hope that I may have given you something to work on. My unit occassionally does something odd one way or another but it is never permanent. All electronic devices have some glitches, just look at the problems with "Windows", but millions of people still use it every day, including me.
For my needs, the IGO500 is perfect, not faultless, but perfect for me.

No, sorry. I am just a consumer/user/owner. I have found that charging my IGO500 from the USB port of my computer does not work very well. It takes a long time. I find that it charges much better using a mains-USB adaptor and cable. I do not know about the IGO50 but the IGO500 came supplied with the USB cable.

You may need to reset it to factory (hard reset) and then update it. However, if the screen has become unresponsive like mine did, it's stuffed and you'll have to replace it. Mine was 4 or 5 years old when it stopped working, replaced it with IGO500...

Try doing a reset with the tiny button on the LH frame edge. I have found that sometimes it will be slow to lock onto the satellites if I have a preplanned trip active. I just "save" the trip, then cancel it. After that the unit will usually lock on quickly and then I just reload the trip. Recently I did have one strange experience where it would not lock on for more than 30 minutes but I was driving at the time so I could not reset it. When I stopped moving I reset it using the "pen" hidden in the top RH corner and it all came back to normal. It has been fine ever since. Good luck.

There is not much you can do other than try resetting the unit a couple of times. If that does not work it is probably dying. If it is still under warranty it should be returned to the place of purchase for replacement. If not, buy another.

"Stopped working properly" does not tell me much! I assume that you have tried the "reset" function. I have needed to use that a couple of times to reboot the unit. It has always done the job. If that fails, you could try leaving it turned on until the battery goes completely flat and it shuts down. Leave it for a few hours, try turning it on again to see if the battery is REALLY flat. If not flat, leave it on again until it shuts down again. Leave it for a day or so and then recharge and reboot it. This can clear any glitches out of memory. If that all fails and you have a backup of the system files you could restore them from your backup. I keep a backup of the complete file system on my PC and regularly backup the "SAVE" file to my PC as this is the one that changes each time you use the unit.

Not to0 sure what the problem was.I bought it inside and connected it to my lap top but thought better not do anything until i know what to do.I put it back into my car and it said searching for satellite conection and away it went.No further problems????????

On one occasion I somehow managed to have a "full screen" speedo function on my igo500. I am not sure how I did it and have not been able to repeat it. I thought that I started the function by double tapping the screen whilst in normal map display mode. It looked kind of like a blue dashboard with a large speedo in the centre. If I touched the screen it would display the map and then automatically return to speedo display after a few seconds. Turn commands would appear each time when due both visually and vocally. The only way I could get out of "speedo" function was to reset the device. I have tried to get the speedo function back again but have been unable to do it. I have searched the web for igo500 hidden features but found nothing. I would like to be able to use the function again.

Since my reply above, it has happened twice more. I still do not know how or why it happens but it seems to be related to "turn on" procedure as each time it shows up just after turning the unit on. I still have to hit reset to get rid of it.

To get the speedo to come up you need to be driving and when you go over the posted speed and your warning comes up on the screen you press it to turn on the speed.
when this is on and you are travelling below the posted speed the screen will be blue and when you go over the posted speed the screen turns red. to turn the speedo off you need to once again go above the posted speed and touch the speed warning when it pops up.

The IGO GPS unit needs to be put in the right mode before you hook it up to the computer so that it will be recognised. I've forgotten the exact details. I have a Mac anyway.

Mate I got so frustrated with mine I threw it away. Even after uniden replaced it three times. No issues with uniden the company but terrible experience with the product.

I'm not sure as I've never seen that error message. As with a LOT of electronic devices that play up. The first thing to try is a reset. I had to reset my old one numerous times for various faults. Press the little reset button on the back of the unit with a pen for a few seconds.

Hi Helen. Sorry I don't have a answer to your query. I no longer have the gps and I didn't come across that issue you have. Did wish I had never bought it though!!

Had same message. Unable to juse it. After pressing the reset button a million times had to contact Cust Service, send it back in reply paid envelope, wait five days and get a superseded IGO 043 model back in its place. What a Joke .Waiting on a final outcome

When in map view Tap 'Menu' then 'More' then 'Settings' and then Sound & Warnings it then shows 'Volume'. Adjust slide to level you require.

Mine worked OK with 7. Although I do recall having some connection issues. As I no longer have mine I cannot help you any further.

You need to download software from Uniden that manages it on the desktop if you haven't already done so. Having said that I have had trouble getting the unit recognised it seems to take a while.
If it is a new purchase take it back and get a refund they are not good units. Speed limits are all over the place. Voice says 60 when the unit and signs say 80.
I could go on and on.....

my uniden igo35 doesnt store power....it dies after few seconds....who is the best person to fix this.....i have seen lot of people selling uniden gps cheap on ebay because of similar problem...whom shall i contact to have it repaired.
