Best GPS around.
Used it for many years, finally died (screen became unresponsive) last week. Replaced it with a TomTom VIA225 Today...what a pile of crap! Seriously! You have to manually turn it on EVERY TIME you start the car...and, the power button is in the worst position ever...it's at the back so you have to move the entire thing every time you get in the car just to turn it on??? Took it back and swapped for the Navman MY450LMT...This unit does switch on and off automatically, but you have to accept the safety agreement every frigging time it turns on, t...Read more
hen wait for the menu screen and choose the map option from that before it's ready...[censored word removed]? The uniden simply turned on with ignition and went straight to the map...no F***ing around with licenses or menu screens...looks like i'll be taking this Navman back as well and try to find someone who sells the Unidens!Similar opinion? Not too bad as a paper weight!
The Uniden iGO43 is absloutely useless in daylight as you can't see the screen! Constantly loses GPS signal and anounces, "Recalculating route" - even when vehicle is stationary! Frequently freezes and has to be reset! Uniden support told me that there was nothing wrong with the unit and all Nav's have the same problems! Because of continuing problems I decided to scrap it and start again - good way to waste $200! I will definitely steer people away from Uniden products in future! I now use a Garmin nüvi® 2595LMT and have never had a single problem with it.
Thin profile.
Can't see screen in daylight. Loses GPS signal constantly. Frequently "freezes" and has to be reset. Poor support.

I am sorry buit I have never had this problem. What does the warning say? POI is, of course, Points of Interest. Perhaps that file has been corrupted somehow. If you have a backup of your IGO files perhaps you could restore it to Factory and start again. I hope that I may have given you something to work on. My unit occassionally does something odd one way or another but it is never permanent. All electronic devices have some glitches, just look at the problems with "Windows", but millions of people still use it every day, including me.
For my needs, the IGO500 is perfect, not faultless, but perfect for me.

My uniden gps model igo43 has stopped working properly, how to get it up and running?

"Stopped working properly" does not tell me much! I assume that you have tried the "reset" function. I have needed to use that a couple of times to reboot the unit. It has always done the job. If that fails, you could try leaving it turned on until the battery goes completely flat and it shuts down. Leave it for a few hours, try turning it on again to see if the battery is REALLY flat. If not flat, leave it on again until it shuts down again. Leave it for a day or so and then recharge and reboot it. This can clear any glitches out of memory. If that all fails and you have a backup of the system files you could restore them from your backup. I keep a backup of the complete file system on my PC and regularly backup the "SAVE" file to my PC as this is the one that changes each time you use the unit.
I hope that I may have been of some help to you.
Not to0 sure what the problem was.I bought it inside and connected it to my lap top but thought better not do anything until i know what to do.I put it back into my car and it said searching for satellite conection and away it went.No further problems????????
