Froze my money even after payment!!!!
Charged my bank account twice for the same flight!!! One full payment completely went through and another payment for the same amount is now stuck in pending, meaning that I cannot access that money to pay my bills or living expenses! It was no small amount either! Close to $3000!!!
I have called them and they insist it is a problem with the bank, I contacted the bank and they confirmed that it was definitely a transaction made by united airlines!
United airlines has been unapologetic and rude.
After hours on the phone to them, they eventu...Read more

They steal money and are fraudulent
United airlines stole $1,100 from my credit card! They did this over four transactions, possibly to 'go unnoticed'. They are Fraudulent and should be overseen by law enforcement.
I have evidence of this, my bank statements and the refunds, where it was shown to be fraudulent activity (otherwise, they wouldn't have refunded the money)
DO NOT TRAVEL WITH THEM OR GIVE THEM ANY BANK DETAILS.

disappointed with customer service on phone
just over ten days ago i phoned united airlines in USA. I told them i was really excited about the new service they were offering, and said i would like a quote. I asked how much it would cost to have my brother in law beaten and dragged screaming from the plane. I even informed the staff member that he was an obnoxious drunk and should be beaten and "volunteered" off the plane pronto.
There was initial silence on the line, then someone different came back to me and said," sir we do not provide this service."
I told her i was confused, becaus...Read more

Terrible to be honest
Booking process was fine, plane was late by 30 mins, and was not satisfies with the on board service, as I found the staff to be rude and tense and unhappy.

Disgraceful airline
I just saw the way they treat their customers on a news report. I or anyone i know will never use this airline again. Dragging a paying customer forcefully off the plane to give his seat to one of their stuff is disgraceful and this company should be ashame of itself!!!

Can't fault!
My wife and I flew Sydney to LAX return economy class during Christmas and new year 2016, and we were not sure what to expect as this was our first time with United.
Being frequent flyers, we immediately noticed how the airline was better than others. The bag drops and boarding pass was a breeze! The departures and arrivals were ahead of schedule and the flight itself was new and clean (one of the new Dreamliners).
The food was better than most others flying on this route (especially the ice cream and coffee). The meal & drinks service a...Read more
nd clean up after the meals were prompt (we hate seating with empty trays for hours before they are removed). When we asked for more drinks, they were served promptly. I think some of the other so called good airlines crew (Etihad, Emirates, Singapore, Qantas etc) should learn from the United mob who were not necessarily young and pretty but were easy to deal with and quick in serving to economy customer needs which is now a days has become rare! Please note that they serve tea, coffee, juices, beers and wines for free in the economy class. If you crave a glass of scotch or other hard drinks, then you need to pay which we did not order. The touch screen entertainment system had plenty of shows and movies including new releases. One thing that my wife and I both loved was their safety induction video which was refreshing, funny and entertaining.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Thieves, liars
Woeful pack of lying thieves. They have a pervasive and ingrained culture of indifference and deception. Never again, and will ensure nobody I know uses them again.

Terrible Customer Service
I won't go in to too much detail as everyone has already covered it with their reviews and I 100% agree with them! Terrible service from a particular hostess from LAX to Sydney last week. Flight delayed several times and back to the terminal just before take off for 2.5 hrs. No explanation. No sorry folks. No are you ok?

O.K. carriers until L.A.X. then it all went horribly wrong.
United was our 8 week trip airline to U.S.A. and Canada arranged via our travel agent. Prior to L.A.X. departure we had experienced 6 flights which were o.k. Arrived in L.A.X. on that fateful night there was a security scare with reports of a gunman roaming the airport. Following evacuation of the terminals and the all clear being some 2.5 hours later we returned to our gate to receive the announcement our flight was cancelled, then to be advised no replacement flight would be arranged that day. 300+ tired and angry passengers then queued at th...Read more
eir service desk seeking to find other carriers and flights. Nearly 2 hours we waited and were shuffled between service desks because someone higher up finally worked out 3 staff could not serve 300 passengers in any decent time frame. We were able to get a flight 24 hours later with Qantus (a REAL airline United, look them up when you have a chance) but were given a pink slip to ring a 1800 number for a cheap hotel. United refused to cover the cost of any accommodation as it was not their fault! They also gave us false information at the desk about seat upgrades on our new flight (we suspect just to get rid of us.) We had paid for these on United and no doubt will have to wait weeks for a refund. We found out later only 2 flights only were cancelled that night and they were both United. However United managed to fill our plane with 2 flights to San Francisco (the other initially cancelled flight) to keep the home landers happy. Well done, your ability to manage and provide service to your clients in a disruption seriously sucks. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE FLY WITH THEM.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Denied releasing booked tickets - rerouted an additional 24 hours on top of a 30 hour trip
United failed to honour a paid booking. United failed to release or reissue another airlines tickets.
United failed to show duty of care. United failed to offer customer recovery. United refused to offer customer recovery when the passenger requested amenity...a 30 hour trip blown out to over 50 hours, by myself, no shower, no sleep. United said that " people pay a lot of money to use our lounge and to fly in a higher grade...you do not have an upgradable ticket". I did not have a booking to Melbourne via London. Customer appreciation?
On July 27 we were booked on UA1204 from San Francisco to Los Angeles, from where we were booked onto a flight to Sydney, again with United. Plane took off but after 20 minutes the pilot announced that the landing gear would not retract, and we'd have to return to San Francisco but first we'd have to fly around for awhile to reduce the fuel load. Fair enough.
When we landed we went back into the terminal while they tried to find a replacement plane. After some time they announced that the flight was cancelled and to go to the United service d...Read more

Customer Service skills needs improvement for some staff.
I was on my first overseas trip to the US from Sydney in early June. Journey to LA was Ok. Some of the staff seemed to hate their job. I got some nice staff. Domestic to Chicago was great, lovely happy staff. I had to come home early for a funeral and Madison Airport staff were polite & great at re-booking my trip. Denver Customer service was lovely as we had mechanical problems on flight due for San Francisco & had to get another plane & they put me on flight direct to LA to meet my plane home. LA desk staff were good but I had problems on fli...Read more
ght home to Sydney. 1st problem was I asked Hostess how to turn on light for an elderly passenger as this being my first time on a plane overseas the last time was a domestic flight 25 years ago. I noticed on previous smaller domestic plane there was a button. Air Hostess just said with her back to me as she kept walking "its on the screen". Well I didn't know how to use it. Elderly lady next to me was shocked by her attitude towards me. Well I figured it out & elderly lady was extremely grateful. I also got her headphones so she could watch TV for the long flight & after figuring it out myself I showed her how to use the settings. I politely went & asked for a fizzy drink later in flight as I was feeling ill & got a death stare (from the same Hostess) then my drink. When nearly home breakfast was served. A young man in front of me ordered french toast & got scrambled eggs, I saw him call to Air Hostess (same one who I dealt with) & she gave him what he wanted & took back eggs which he had already opened. I gave her my order & she gave me the open eggs which the man had returned. I said to her this is already opened & she said to me its just the steam. Although I saw him clearly hand back that pack half folded back as it happened right in front of me. United should re-train some staff to brush up on their skills as they could look at their customers when speaking in case of hearing impairments plus its shows you have manners also show the passengers how to turn on the light or use the TV as the elderly lady I sat next to would have had a very long boring flight as she couldn't use these things and wasn't shown and most importantly "Don't give another passenger 2nd hand returned food" that's a health hazard. I don't mind helping people as I worked in aged care for many years & like helping others but one thing I don't like is doing someone's job for them as they are too LAZY to do it. Also I never took my problems to work. I just smiled and did my job, something the Air hostess I encountered should learn. To all the other staff that were nice to your customers and for doing your job well thank you. Next time I fly it will be with another airline as the actions of the rude air hostess and giving me second hand food was a major turn off.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Horrible customer service!
I recently flew with United to Oklahoma to visit relatives, in late April. When we did our self check in. We all had separate seats even my 3yr old daughter! I went to ask for assistance & was given the "we can't assist you with your seats, then she points to the sign "bag drop off only". She then said go sort yourself out at the gate. we got to the gate, & waited for someone to assist us at the service desk. When someone finally appeared. We asked if they could help us with the seating arrangements, because how could they seat a child on their...Read more
own. We were told they couldn't help with seating arrangements we needed to go to the ticketing desk, which was on the other side of the terminal! we were told we can go ask people to move so we could sit next to my daughter. Frustrating! Then before boarding we were stopped by the gate boarding attendant & was told we had too many bags! We are allowed two bags per person. There was four of us, we had seven bags. She made my mum ruffle around to consolidate our bags, but I told the attendant that my daughter is a person & we paid full price for her She is allowed two bags! 2x4=8! The attendant then looked at me blankly & just let us through not even apologising for her mistake! Rude! A week later my parents return trip from Oklahoma to San Francisco was booked with United. When they got there (their English is limited) they asked for assistance with the self check in. The two ladies that went to help them, told my parents they had too many bags. Again! My mum had two bags, dad the same. Mum was holding her jacket & a pillow for the flight. They bullied my parents to the point, that my mum said she didn't want any more hassle & was happy to pay for the baggage fee. My mum had only cash, but they told my mum they don't accept cash, only credit card! By this time it was almost boarding time for them, then a supervisor of the airline came to see what was the fuss, the supervisor told my parents that they can go because they have the correct amount of bags!!! just plain rudeness! No customer service! Would never recommend anyone to fly with them! United airlines horrible!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Mel-LAX 787-9. Economy.
New plane, on time both ways. Crew are disinterested and aren't well presented. Seats don't seem to recline very much at all. Food wasn't bad and entertainment is up there with the best. Wifi worked well. Overall it was good value for a direct flight just don't expect much love.

United Airlines - No respect for the elderly
I paid almost U$400 for the reservation of premium seats for my parents from LA to Melbourne. I reserved and paid for these seats because they had the extra leg room which my mother required as she has a leg condition.
Unfortunately, when they arrived at the United Airlines counter in LA, they were told the seats had been allocated to somebody else (most likely a United Airlines frequent flyer). They were given instead, seats with the standard leg room for economy (and right next to the toilets).
I contacted the complaints/refunds department ...Read more

Appalling customer service
During our multi-leg trip to the US with United, we experienced the following:
- a six-hour delay in the flight from Denver to Newark. United didn't even provide a meal voucher during the wait, or provide a meal on the plane.
- We were charged USD $360 to check in our suitcases for the LAX-SYD flight, which United's own printed itinerary and website said we were entitled to free of charge. United's check-in staff were unhelpful, refused to look at our documentation and weren't the slightest bit interested in resolving the problem. After a...Read more
week they finally refunded our money. Their customer service department provided no explanation as to why we were charged for our baggage. - They also tried to charge us USD $360 for our baggage the day before on the flight from Newark to LA, despite our documentation saying we could check them for free. After half-an-hour of arguing with three different United check-in staff, they finally waived the fee (after all three had told us the fees couldn't be waived. So they were either lying or poorly trained).Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

United Airlines price gouge
We are traveling 50,000 miles with United Airlines and wanted to add an extra leg onto the journey with 5 weeks still to go before our trip. $400 dollar price gouge to add two $80 tickets, (total $560) ! This has become quite an all to easy profit temptation for airlines even though their computerized systems are capable of doing this in seconds, especially in an era of e-ticketing.Thought we might give United a go after scores of flights with Emirates. Ah well at least our United points will go to our next Singapore Airline flights and give United the flick.

It's cheap for a reason, please avoid at all costs.
The only reason why their tickets are a fraction of the price of its competitors is because they already have a reputation for lousy customer service and lack professionalism.
Ask anyone that has ever flown with them, and not ONE has something positive to say.
Their only way to attract customers is by making the fare to tempting to resist. But please do!
Take your money somewhere else,
I wish I would've.
Syd to LA is a very long flight to spend it miserably from the beginning.

Need to look at Codeshare partners.
Have flown with United many times and know what to expect, it is ok. Last trip from Melbourne to San Francisco had to fly a domestic leg in both direction with Jetstar- this was horrendous, staff unhelpful, rude and appeared untrained, difficult transfers in Sydney which need to be paid for while carrying own luggage!, only on the return leg was I offered 'free' bottle of water. I will choose another airline rather than repeat this experience.

We are travelling with 3 children aged 8, 11 and 13. Are united airlines accommodating and friendly especially being their first flights? We are travelling from Melbourne to LAX with United
4 answers
I guess "accomodating " is a two way street, Firstly, did you book direct with United . Com and have you reserved your seats. ? With children you do not want to be to far from the toilets. Also, look up your flight on United.com to see the seating configuration chart, and also join their free loyalty program Mileage plus and give your membership numbers at check in. Here is a hint, take a nice box of wrapped chocolates on board for the crew with a smile........hope this helps, Warm Regards, Tony . G.
I booked via travel agent not direct and found them to be excellent
Hi Andrew, The reason I book thru the UA website direct is. (1) I have seen travel, agents go insolvent and provide you with a false printed itinerary and they abscond with your funds.(2) The UA website keeps you up to date with time /schedule changes via your email and their loyalty program,Mileage Plus, which is free to join. (3) Booking directly, you can scan the seating configuration and click on which seats you want and also apply for cabin upgrades..It is trouble free and you can keep a check on you Reservation all you want. Hi Yoke Fein
I cannot answer your question as I don't work for United Airlines. I had a serious problem with United when we flew on one of their planes and my wife was not allowed to get to her medication and she had an asthma attack on the plane. You best get hold of your travel agent and let them assist you with your problem.
