It Works

published

If you want the Vax to work correctly, you MUST clean the filter regularly, and that means after every 2nd clean. If you don't, its performance drops off dramatically. It's light and does the job well, though the suction tube kinks easily. Good value for money, the turbo-head is the go.

Awful, never buy one ...

published

We bought a Vax pet vacuum over a year ago and its terrible. Its suction is not great (we do have a dog/hair) but the thing is so noisy. I have looked over it but cannot find the issue. I can hear my wife on it from 100m down the street. Its going to cause hearing loss its that deafening. Invest in a product other than this one.

The Vax and nothing but the Vax

published

Excellent suction and is light and manoeuvrability is good. Can be dismantled for cleaning.the vacuum properly. Regular cleaning of filter pads will take care of it overheating. Used in a large house and although noisy it really cleans carpets and laminated floors. Canister holds good volume of dust and easy to empty. Great not to have to buy paper bags at inflated prices. This vacuum cleaner is a victim of being so good.that It picks up what other ones have left behind so naturally the filters need attention.

Brand new and it cuts out

published

It's an incredibly loud machine. The second time I used it, it just cut out. Can't blame blockage or clearing filters as it's brand new! The bottom of the Vax is super hot so it obviously overheats - this is a mechanical fault. It shouldn't overheat within five minutes of use. I've never experienced overheating with ANY other machine. In my opinion, on the two times I used it - well, one and half times - it generally sucks up dust like geriatric Asmathic would.

It is a good product

published

I have used this product for almost a year and loved it . If i have to purchase another one i would go for this brand again. The reason is it is not so expensive and easy to use and clean . I might buy a more expensive one next time.

Love it!!!!

published

I have carpet through out my house and this vax works amazing. I bought the pet pro just because my daughter and I have long hair and this vax picks it all up. It isn’t crazy loud and it’s easy to move around. Buying replacement filters are also easily located.

To loud and stops working after a few minutes of use

published

I had a vax and loved it so when I needed another vacuum for a small cottage I grab this. Biggest mistake. It's extremely loud after using for about 5 mins it cuts out and I have to wait for 30 - 60 mins before I can use again. The dust/hair it collects gets caught in the top section and doesn't even make it into the holding tank. I wouldn't recommend this model.

Since originally writing this review it has completely failed and will no longer power up. Will be taking it to get fixed under warranty.

Works excellent, for a while

published

This is cheap and very powerful vacuum cleaner. It was its power that encouraged us to replace our 15 year old trusty. We were not disappointed in the first half hour of use and then it stopped for overheating. We have discovered this unit has a filter that needs cleaning (with water) and when cleaned it is perfect. Half hour of use is rediculous and we are taking it back to the store as unfit for purpose.

Very Noisy.

published

Despite it being incredibly noisy it worked well in the beginning. Sadly now, a few months later it’s lost suction. There are no blockages or obstructions to cause it. It’s ok on hard floors, but virtually useless on carpet. The hose kinks and it tips over really easily which is annoying. Its just not worth all the noise !

Not good for carpets

published

This vacuum is an okay choice if you have a small apartment & minimal carpeting. If you are cleaning a house, and have carpets, I would advise that you save yourself the pain and invest some extra money into buying a higher end one. The suction isn't great and it fills up really quick. It's also a bit difficult to empty, but like I said, it's fine for a small & non-carpeted space!

Worked really well for two weeks

published

Great suction power and then after 4 uses it over heated and I’ve lost faith. I will be trying to get a new one to replace this lemon. I’m pretty dissatisfied. The wheel filter lid falls off and I can’t get it back on properly. It’s not great to manoeuvre around the house and larger objects get stuck easily in the hose.

Great to start off with

published

Maybe this vacuum doesn't like long haired retrievers, but after working effectively for the first 6 months this vacuum has started to have only short bursts of power then will over heat and need a break. We have to empty it every 10 minutes. Given our dogs pet hair in our carpet, managed to kill a Dyson once.

Moderate

published

For a vacuum cleaner of its price, I didn't expect too much from it. It can suck out dust and hair from my carpet, but the suction isn't that strong. A bit noisy but that goes for most vacuum cleaners. Considering its overheating aspects, this seems like it'll be a good machine in winter to use.

Very Noisy & Suction Poor

published

This vacuum is so noisy, it actually hurts my ears & leaves my ears ringing. It sounds like a jet engine. Hose keeps on kinking & it loses suction. When it is working, it's ok but I can't recommend this vacuum for the above reasons. Don't waste your money on this vacuum.

My favourite!!

published

I’m so delighted the performance of this vax 5. It suctioned well and strong. I used it to both carpeted and tiled floor and it does its work!

Only thing I don’t like is the overheating like symptoms on the wheel. It is noisy too.

In general, I love this vacuum—makes my floor fresh and clean. :)

I brought this vacuum in November & the main reason I was tired I my old vacuum not picking up the dog hair. This vacuum does that, my only concern is that I find it difficult to release the hose from the barrel & squeezing the hose to release is hard. Having arthritis in my hands does not make it any easier, but I have never had a problem with my previous vacuums. overall I am very happy with this vacuum.

Perfect

published

This vaccy is a beauty, with 2 cats and a little dog in the house we have a lot of fur, this vaccy picks it all up. I love the fact you have a power option, from small amount of suction to max. Have always had a upright, but it never picked up all the fur and dust like this one does. It’s great to use on your couch, cushions,I even vacuumed our mattress. We have Lino and tiles throughout house and it’s a breeze to use. We have 2 rugs and brings them up like new.great cord length, very easy to move around the house, and also very easy to dispose of rubbish in barrel, just one click over your rubbish bin and gone. Just love it.

Very good at pet hair but noisy

published

Picks up all the pet hair nicely.

Only vaccum cleaner I have had that did this!

All the others "went through the motions" but did not successfully pick up anything. A lot of noise and dust.

Although this one was noisy, it picked up my fur from my Cocker Spaniel x Poodle.

My Vacuum gets warm from where the Antibacterial HEPA media post-motor filter when using it, it blows hot air, i cleaned all filters, what else would it be

I clean both the canister filter and the one behind the wheel. Check that there's no blockage in the hose. Some hot air can be expected if the vacuum is used continuously over 20 mins.
