Zero Stars - Don't waste your money
Buying a $800 + vacuum cleaner that promises quality and efficiency removing pet hair, you expect a top quality product that will last you for years. Not with this Dyson.
I'm extremely disappointed that Dyson offer such a poor product. Poorly made that after 2 weeks using this vacuum cleaner (light use around the house) the wheels came off and you can't place it back. Poor hard plastic that once it's broken you can't do anything about it.

t stuck and it's a little mission to turn off. Around the same time the little plastic wheel close to the vacuum head doesn't spin either. Again, poorly built and made. Now we have a fancy broken, 1 year old vacuum that can't be used anymore. We always had cheaper vacuums $150 or so and we NEVER had any built issue with it and lasted us years! Will never buy anything from Dyson again. What a waste of money, DON'T waste your money too!Purchased in January 2021.

Not for long fur, weak suction
We bought this as we have four long haired pets. Be warned the animal description only applies to short fur, not long fur which immediately blocks the head.
When we complained the Dyson rep sounded like this isn't the first time they have heard this issue.
Very weak suction, have to go over everything twice. Have gone back to our 6 year old electrolux which is far more powerful. Dyson appears to be nothing but marketing hype.

Another bitterly disappointed Dyson customer...
Oh Dyson what has gone wrong! I had one of your first vacuums for many years and loved it! Sadly it died and I replaced it with this model. I am so very disappointed! The barrel never seems to close properly and I am forever having to use my stick Dyson to clean the mess that falls out of this vacuum. It is messy to empty. My carpets never feel like they are properly vacuumed and the carpet head does not have the range like the old vacuum. I have to continuously empty the barrel just to feel like I am getting some suction. I've rung a couple of...Read more

I can only assume Dyson has been sold to a bigger company so once again we see greed before customer satisfaction.Purchased at Dyson.

I miss my old Dyson
After owning a Dyson for 12 years why would I buy anything else... I was excited to see the benefits of 12 years of R&D how sad it was to go so far backwards and wish I never upgraded. The dust lid doesn't always lock properly and spills dust when you remove it, it is hard to move around especially doors, the attachments are always clogged and had to buy special tooling to disassemble clean the dust and hair from the belt and cogs in the head myself instead of always sending it back for repair. My Wife prefers using my $90 Bunnings shop vacuum as it does a better job.

Not worth the money
Very disappointed with the overall quality and performance. Not enough variation in suction. Emptying the canister is not easy and has often clicked open as it is taken out of it's holder. The on/off switch is too small as is the cord rewind. Vacuum rod is too large and difficult to use. Attachments are poorly designed for the purpose intended.

Not Great.
Was initially happy with this cleaner. Had issues with the multi floor head after about 12 months of use, it kept lifting off the floor and losing suction. Dyson kindly replaced the head, but with a different one, not the same as came with the purchase. Whether its the new head or not,bit seems to have loss suction, skims over the floor without picking up dirt/dust. Have previously been a Vax user but went with a Dyson on friend and family recommendations. Should have stuck with a Vax.

Not as good as my original Dyson
My first Dyson nearly 10 years ago was amazing, this one is still good on hard floors (where I could use a broom) but a real struggle to get carpet clean. I have to scrub the carpet then often pick up a ball of fluff or kids hair my hand & feed it into the suction. Its mildly better than my $70 Aldi special but nearly 10x the price. No its not blocked just ineffective on carpet. Surely I dont have to spend 100s extra on an animal head to actually pick anything up from the carpet? I persisted for 3 months as I was so excited to have a Dyson again but now I just want my money back and a vacuum that works on carpet! Oh, and emptying it is a nightmare, dust everywhere from the cheap plastic release button that often gets stuck!

Love it
I used this on hardwood floos as qell as carpet. It never tips over and if it does it fixes itself because of its unique shaoe and texture. The only issue i have with it is that its heavy to carry up the stairs and my house is 2 floors but other than that its very powerful and i even use it on my lounges

It is a great vacuum
Dyson is my favourite brand of vacuum. The big ball is excellent for my house. 6 people, all tiles aside from 2 bedrooms. Its easy to use, LOVE that I don't have to clean filters or change bags etc. The only downside so far for me (I've owned two in the last 4 years, upgrading to my current one a year ago) is the barrel when emptying is difficult to close - my first one was great but this particular model is a little frustrating. Don't buy into the Dyson hype
The suction levels on the vacuum are poor - refer video. On timber floors it won't pick up anything larger than a grain of rice on first sweep. I have to pick up multiple items by hand as it's faster than moving the vacuum head back and forth again and again. The on/off and cord retractor buttons seem to be fagile, however in fairness I could be wrong. But their size and placement make it difficult to use anything but hands. When emptying the vacuum it has opened unexpectedly on multiple occasions, dumping dust on clean floors. And its quite difficult to get the bottom door of the dust receptacle to stay closed. It's truly awful!

Very brittle plastic.
Functionally it is a vacuum with strong suction, too strong for carpet without reducing the suction. That said, I am not happy with the construction, after 12 months 3 plastic parts have broken in normal use. Another is failing, the barrel has star cracks on the underside where it is buried in the machine. All told poor construction, the plastic is too brittle.

Disappointed as there is a filter in the apparently filterless vacuum!
This review is not an attack on Dyson, just simply stating fact that there is a major and hidden design fault within this vacuum cleaner.
On a positive note, the vacuum works well when new, great suction and good range of tools!
However, after a while (12 months) the machine started to smell like burnt dust and was literally blowing dust out the back of the motor vents so much so that the air is hazy from suspended dust. Externally everything looked fine and being apparently "filterless", we couldn't see what the problem was. So, I pulled th...Read more
e machine apart as it was blowing so much dust that it was unusable and completely unhygienic. And I found a FILTER! YES, a FILTER. There is a disposable paper element filter that is supposed to trap smaller particles between the vacuum cylinder and the motor. This filter was entirely blocked and split so was therefore blowing huge amounts of dust out of the motor vent (see images). The filter looked as though it had been sucking ash, but it hadn't, just blocked with dust.... The vacuum has only ever been used on carpet and floorboards (before Dyson responds that the machine has been used inappropriately). We have a workshop vacuum for 'bad' things and ironically, the Karcher workshop vacuum has ended up in the house as the Dyson isn't useable...... So then off the the Dyson Australia parts website to buy a replacement and nothing was shown! I have now found a replacement filter for $69.00 which the website even states that "If you think that there is no filter in your Dyson Cinetic Big Ball vacuum cleaner you are wrong". And interestingly, the Dyson website states that "No dirty filters to wash or replace" which is simply not true. It would of have been very easy for Dyson to allow the filter to easily clip in and out, but instead c. 19 screws have to be removed to access the filter. Why did they do this when in the past, their vacuum filters were easy to access and washable? I have noted that a number of the other reviews on this site that state that the machine smells or is blowing dust. Dyson have not once responded with a simple solution of replacing the filter, simply contact customer service. Why when there IS a filter and it's a very simple solution or is this simply avoiding admission that a $600.00 vacuum has a fault? Anyway, I have ordered a new filter (the one that doesn't exist) and will see how long it lasts......Purchased in April 2021 for $550.00.

o the post filter and that everything is clear as in a new machine would be. I have replaced the 'Post Filter Assembly' with a Dyson genuine filter (part no: 967374-04). Interestingly, the filter has an altered design with mesh on the outside of the filter that would limit 'blow out' of the filter if it is blocked. Now that the vacuum is 'as new', I will monitor how much dust makes it way to the 'post filter assembly' and I will update here with the results. A very well made, high performing vac that's worth a look if you want mains power - and can use all the accessories.
Pros - Excellent performance, quality build and finish, comfortable and efficient to use, large capacity dust collector, wide collection of attachments that work well if you have a use for them...
Cons - ... but up the already premium pricing unnecessarily if you don't. On/off switch on the small side and potentially fragile for tapping with your foot, hard floor head is missing the retaining notch to hold the wand and hose upright on the vacuum itself, reasonably heavy to drag around the house, two-year warranty seems stingy.

A well-made, great performing unit that's worthy of its price if you need a regular mains powered vacuum cleaner over a wide variety of surfaces and furniture - but a cordless unit might be a more convenient option if you don't need endless run time. -- The Cinetic Big Ball range is Dyson's current take on their well-known - some might say iconic - cyclone-style bagless/filterless barrel vacuum cleaners. Ambassador review: it's great ! Just like the last one.
I was sent this new Dyson Animal+ to review. Conveniently, I already own the previous Dyson Animal model, which may be useful for those who may already own one and are wondering what has changed. I was quite excited to do the comparison, knowing full well it would either be very interesting or it wouldn't be very different at all and that very much turned out to the be case.
Aside from the purple, faux-anodised coloration, the product appears almost exactly the same, on first impression. The differences are very few and far in between and the ...Read more
only one I can detect is that the power and cord retraction buttons are slightly larger - that's it. The following is identical: cord length, attachments, stick length/size and the bin is a mirror image of it's previous model, also. For those who have not used a Dyson before and have been deterred by the price-point, I don't blame you in the slightest. Make no mistake, this is a pricey unit at around $750. That said, given the service life of our previous model (over 3 years now), I would absolutely buy another. If it broke within a year then that would be a deal breaker. In a nutshell, the Dyson Barrel vacuums are very, very good. I live in an apartment - all carpet. It's a never-ending challenge to keep our carpets clean and I when I got my first Dyson I was extremely happy with the performance - I still am, which is why I am also very please with the performance of this new model. As a comparison, there is little to no difference in performance between the two. I can't be sure, but I believe the new model is slightly (and mean, very slightly) more quite than the old, but that could be an old vs new thing. I did note that both models use the same "turbine floor tool" (aka - the big brush head that moves and whines, but cleans exceptionally well). This tool is generally great, although our older model now occasionally makes very high pitch, irritating whining sounds when being moved backwards and forwards. I'm not sure if that's due to material suck in the rollers (I have tried cleaning them out) or if it's just that there is a design issue. Given there is zero visible evidence of change on this attachment, I would expect this new model to also have this flaw as time goes on. The other slight irritation is that, in order to remove the spinning brush from this workhorse adapter (because hair will get caught in it), you need a 10 cent coin or something similar to remove the cover on the side of the unit. I would very much like to see a change here that is tool free if possible. Likewise, the bin on both models are indistinguishable, visually, bar superficial colouration. In my experience, this will be generally a good thing - but expect two issues: albeit rarely, you will pop out the bin and it will open unexpectedly. This largely points to incorrect re-installation after cleaning, however, it's not just that. Once you empty the bin (and yes, expect to have to put you hand into the bin to remove jammed up carpet fibre and bits and bobs) the challenge begins to secure the bottom of the bin back onto itself. I often find myself having make multiple attempts at this primarily due to the rubber seals not evenly locking onto the plastic circumference of the bin. All the while, exceptionally fine dust particles are spreading around and getting up your nose and causing wonderful sneezing - it's the price you pay for a vaccum that literally sucks up the finest crud from your carpets - and, it's a price I pay gladly. That said, there is room for improvement in the bin design and I would also like to see improvement in caching the finest of the dust so it doesn't get a chance to aerosolise around the room. The only way to get it out to get the bin multiple hard whacks - which really doesn't help your cause for preventing a dust storm. Overall, I would love to give this a 5 but I know that Dyson can do better and I expect that they certainly will as product development evolves. That said, I would rate this vacuum above all others I have used in the past and I would buy one again.Purchased in September 2021.

Perfect for those with carpet and shedding pets
I was very excited to receive this unit for testing from ieatwords as 1) I have two kids and a dog who sheds HUGE amounts of fur year-round, and so we use our vacuum daily, and 2) I've never had the opportunity to use what could be considered a higher-range vacuum cleaner.
As soon as I received the box I set to work on unpacking and assembling the unit straight away. Assembly was pretty straight-forward and after having a look at all the parts, it was easy to get everything together; I didn't need to consult the manual. One of the first th...Read more
ings I noticed was how solid and slick all the parts feel. I like the way everything neatly and easily clicks together, and swapping one attachment for another proved to be quick and simple. The cord is also very long -- much longer than on other vacuums I've owned -- and in my smallish three bedroom house I'm able to vaccum the loungeroom, three bedrooms and kitchen before having to switch plugs, which is pretty awesome and feels like a massive time saver. We don't have carpet in our house (although we do have a couple of large rugs; more on that later) and so I was mainly using the hard floor brush attachment. The unit glides smoothly along the floor, rights ITSELF if it gets knocked over, and picks up dirt, dust and fur easily. I've found the design also makes it easier to avoid accidentally picking up larger debris which might inadvertently clog your vacuum, so that was a nice plus for me as I tend to do that quite a bit. I did notice that when emptying the vacuum of dirt the contents look somewhat different to what I'm accustomed to. There appeared to be a lot of finer, almost dust-like, dirt there which makes me feel as if I'm getting a deeper clean on the floors. We also have two long rugs leading from the living room to the kitchen and trying to vacuum the dirt and dog hair from the (black) rugs using our older Kmart vacuum has been a bit of a nightmare; our dog has light fur and it really sticks. Using our other vacuum cleaner on the rugs, it just won't budge on the fur. With the Dyson, I was SO impressed by the carpet attachment (on a side note, please don't stick your fingers anywhere near the head while using the carpet attachment; it really hurts!) on the rug. Picking up the dirt and dog hairs, which really cling, was an absolute breeze and left our rugs looking as good as new. If you don't have a shedding pet, and don't use your vacuum all that often, a lower range vacuum would probably do the trick for you. If you're a daily user like me, have carpet and heavily shedding pets, this could be a really solid investment for you. I was left so impressed by the performance of this vaccum on our rugs and if clinging pet hair around the house is an ongoing issue for you, I'd definitely consider looking into this vaccum as an option; it doesn't disappoint!Similar opinion? The Dyson Cinetic Big Ball range of machines don't have a filter that needs to be replaced. The filter in the ball of the machine is designed to last the lifetime of the machine.
Should dust be blowing out, something isn't quite right with your machine. Please just forward your details to [email protected] and we will be happy to organise for it to be brought into your nearest service centre.

The Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal Pro and Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal+ have the same suction power, filtration, durability and performance. Both machines come in the box with the Carbon Fibre turbine cleaner head, swivel hard floor tool, Tangle-free Turbine Tool, Combination tool and Stair Tool.
In addition to the above, the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal+ comes with the Groom Tool, designed to provide mess free vacuum-assisted dog grooming.
While Cinetic Big Ball Animal Pro doesn't include the Groom Tool, it does include the Stubborn dirt brush, Reach Under tool and Carbon Fibre Soft Dusting brush. This machine is no longer part of our current range at time of writing, however some machines may still be available in retail.
