It is is a great home coffee machine that can produce a top quality coffee..
We’ve had this machine now for almost 4 years and love it. We look after it well which I think is essential, indeed the shop we purchased it from did say if you don’t maintain it, it will come back and bite you hard. We had one issue with it which was a simple fix but we left it too late and water got into the electronics module so we had to get that replaced and fix the initial issue. It is is a great home coffee machine that can produce a top quality coffee, you will need to pair it with a good grinder and develop your own barista skills as they are the only limiting factors.
Purchased in January 2021 at Talk Coffee.

Good machine Poor Customer Support.
The coffee machine as a whole operates well. Unfortunately this is more of an issue of big company syndrome, that of poor support. Having purchased this machine in March 2017, I was surprised that the front section of the drip tray with the VBM logo fell off. I only use it for home making around 4 cups a day. I treat it like many looking after an expensive investment. I contacted Coffee Parts who tried to negotiate with the company for a replacement drip tray, but were unable to get a result. rer would have liked to keep their good reputation in tact. I will have to carefully glue and attach the face plate back on.I do hope others dont have to try and get help from this company. Also be careful with young Children as the edges on the drip tray can slice your fingers. This has happened a couple of times to me. Also the cup tray at the top has some sharp edges as well. The machine makes coffee but a little rough around the edges so to speak.

Excellent in every way
Great machine. I stepped up from an ageing Gaggia home machine, and this secondhand unit has given nothing but pleasure. Easy to get a great coffee, especially with my home roasts. Paired nicely with a Sette 270 grinder from Baratza. If I had one frustration it would be that the milk wand could do with a bit more steam pressure.... but it's fine.

5 or 6 years on, and still wonderful
We've had the VBM Junior for 5 or 6 years now and it's still amazing. We've only had to get it serviced once and that was resolved same day. We bought it from Talk Coffee. At the time we had never made our own coffee, and he kindly spent quite some time showing us how to make one, and the results of getting any tiny thing less than perfect. I must say, that the first week we drank a lot of terrible coffee as we perfected the techniques and also learned how to get the grind right. The moral of the story is that if bad coffee comes out from this machine, it's 100% user error!
We now enjoy the best coffee in Melbourne at home. Completely love this machine.

So far so good - impressed with quality
I was looking for a machine that was relatively simple in design - with minimal electronics - but built with good quality components and designed to last many years, and which could be repaired and maintained down the track at a reasonable cost. back off to have a look, it appears to be made with good quality commercial grade components. I'm not a barrista or coffee expert, but extraction seems to work a little better than the BDB if you are aiming for 25 sec extraction. But as the experts will always tell you, fresh beans and a quality grinder take priority over the actual espresso machine in that regard. Also it's important to allow the machine time to heat up before use - 30 mins after turning on is recommended. The steam does not seem quite as dry as the BDB, but so long as the steam wand is purged before use it's not an issue. Actual steam output seems more than double the rate of the BDB when the valve is on full. The only negative thing I can say about the machine is the design of the steam nozzle. It has two holes on opposite sides angled at about 45 degrees. For years I have created the usual whirlpool type effect in the milk jug when making micro-foam for milk coffees, but the design of the nozzle prevents this. Other users have told me it's not a problem when you get used to it. I agree with them if you are heating a large quantity of milk - but if it's a small amount (like for a single small latte) the steam nozzle doesn't work for me, even though the steam valve operates on a screw arrangement (with volume control) rather than a lever. So in that situation I've resorted to putting a toothpick in one of the nozzle holes so steam only comes from one hole. Best thing since sliced bread...or even longer.
I was in the market for a good coffee machine at home as we are very much lovers of coffee.
After talking on a bunch of forums, most professionals recommended this one which was within my budget, and they were bang on.
It produces a consistent quality coffee almost every time, the only times that it doesn't is down to user error. I have mine married up with a Mazzer Mini grinder which produces a consistent grind.

ten than not, they fall short...the cafes that is. But then we do mainly use Tim Adams coffee from Caloundra so that would help a lot also. End of the day, if you want a fantastic coffee machine that doesn't take up a lot of space, looks stylish and can marry it up with a good grinder...look no further.Similar opinion? Real coffee
I have now had this machine for 6 months and I love it. It is fairly easy to use as the boiler automatically fills and if the water gets too low it stops working until you refill it making it unlikely that it could be damaged by running the boiler dry. This is a manual machine for people who are serious about their coffee, add a good grinder, some freshly roasted beans and you can make coffee better than you will drink at most cafes. I love the look of it too, it looks beautiful on the bench.
Easy to make coffee for lots of people.
