4 day old vms wont turn on
4 days ago i bought a vms from newcastle super center i started truck this morning did not turn on i went straight back to the super center and they simply said we can't help you ring vms direct well i did an they said it should be a refund from the super center being 4 days old so i went back to newcastle supercenter told them what vms said even asked them to ring vms they told me that it's not there problem they just sell the units for vms so i now have a 4 day old vms which does not power up no light indicator it's useless 4x4action on youtube must be paid actors because no one could be happy with 4x4 super centers and there's 100s of problems with all the vms gps over last couple of years

Unrealiable VMS 700HD
Using the unit on street maps was fine.
4x4 maps - 1. it keeps going into faults 2. It keeps freezing up 3. It would say it was to busy and no SD card installed, but was in unit. I would reset unit and still would come up with these problems. There are trouble shooting tips on VMS website, which explains all these faults. Why sell it!!!! Bad product bad service - Don't buy this product.
After buying a Campervan I decided to install a camera in the back of my car. I decided on the VMS 700HD as I thought I would kill two birds with one stone and purchase a new sat nav as my old one was getting....well old. WORD OF WARNING. This was not a good idea. Firstly, the unit is massive and takes up way to much space for the windscreen and although I initially didn't have a problem with it. It bugs me, a lot. r. I have had the unit 3 months and started getting out of memory issues, which meant manually resetting the system. Then the unit would start resetting itself, something particularly annoying when you are relying on it to get somewhere. Lastly the unit says a lot. GPS signal lost! Right in the middle of the city. Anyway.....I reset it and the out of memory issue went away but the other issues continued. I had no major issue until I tried to take it back to 4x4 supastore and swap it or get it fixed. Remember 3 months old. They told me I had to ring the supplier in Melbourne. Tried that several times but it seems they work less hours than a bank. I also email at which I got no reply. When I finally got hold of them the guy was rude and told me it was a known fault and I would have to send the memory card to Melbourne.....address on the box of the unit (like anyone keeps that) and depending on the post is to when I can use my sat nav again. When I expressed the anguish I had been through so far I was not met with empathy but a ring tone as the phone hung up. VMS Never again
Despite the negative reviews, i decided to give it a try anyway and i wish i never had of. Nothing but problems straight out of the box. Has turned it self off several times whilst in use onroad, i have had the SD card back to VMS twice for fixing, yet it still has problems and throws up error messages saying "VMS.EXE has encountered a serious error and must shut down". I have copied all the files off the card onto my PC, formatted the card and reinstalled the files back on 4 TIMES and still will not work. Have followed every instruction their ...Read more
website and forums say, still won't work. Essentially as it sits, i own an expensive onroad GPS which is useless to me. I am writing this one off as a $350 loss and going to buy a Hema Navigator. Not happy.

Does as it says
Firstly, I do not believe all those writing in so many online places complaining about the VMS own one or have used one let alone seen one as seem to not have any truthful idea about one.
With so many people bad mouthing these I was worried about buying one at first but once I used one myself I saw there was no issues to be worried about.
I first rang VMS to ask about some details and had two very helpful people advise of the details and specifications I wanted to know more about.

Useless vms700hdx do not go near this item you could get better from china and works
This useless item from vms has to be the worst gps I have ever purchased.
Its street maps even after an update are useless and constantly trying to take you the wrong way.
Wont go near the recall on the sd card shows what type of company it is that you cant go on there website to fix there problems they have sold you.
Do not try and contact vms you have more chance of ringing the prime mister.

Awesome GPS for on and off roading
Hi, I want to review this product because i couldn't find one here and its a great unit. The 700hds2 is not the latest version available thats the 700HDX. (so i am not endorsing the 700HDX as i havent used it).
Was interested in the Hema HX-1 and thanks to this website and its contributers i was put off and went looking for alternatives. There weren't any reviews for any VMS units here and i took that as a very good sign.

Battery. Plug it in and feel the heat in the back of it. I went through two and will not go a third one, get it returned for refund or credit because it is an absolute piece of crap

Is this unit any good for outback touring on remote 4wd tracks. I read somewhere that it isn't so good for remote 4wd, but just fine for more local 4wd. Thanks

Hi Glenda,
I purchased the unit from 4wd supercentre based on the feedback they had on their website.
My experience was the opposite and I could not recommend the VMS.
Avoid it and look for an alternate device. It may cost more initially however it would have to be another shocker to not provide better value for the money.
