The perfect little pocket rocket
Bought the 90tsi 1.4l turbo petrol sports automatic. So many good things about it I don't know where to start. Fuel economy, I managed 4.9-5.0L/100km on a country trip, with 880km on a single tank of fuel 55L. Handling is so light and responsive. Sports mode.........well.........nothing like the growl of a turbo petrol engine.1.6tonne towing for a braked trailer.A/C used in conjunction with a 6 speed fan is so nice on a 35° day.The enjoyment of driving the golf is such that family members want to use my car rather than theirs.

90 TSI DSG
I was originally hesitated to buy a VW golf as it had notorious reliability issue and the customer service in the past. After I had a test drive I was impressed with the quality of the interior and driving dynamics which similar Japanese cars (e.g corolla, mazda3) can't offer. I bit a bullet and ordered one and I have driven the car for 1 year. First few weeks, I had some minor issues such as the power windows button malfunctioning, wiper and the ceiling bent etc. Unlike most Japanese cars the first 2 months experience wasn't great but the Cast...Read more
le Hill VW has been very helpful to fix those issues quickly. Since then I have zero problems with the car and I'm still enjoying to drive the car. The driving experience can't be compared with any Jap or Korean maker cars at this price. I am not sure for the DSG longevity and I guess the time will tell. I know the Diesel gate but my version is petrol so my car wasn't affected. The engine yields the peak torque at low RPM, so 90 kw is enough for this size of car. I'd recommend this car to anyone who has never driven a golf.

90TSI - What a gem!
I purchased this car during 2015 runout - I had the option for a few grand more for a MY16 92TSI but went with the tried & tested MY15 90TSI. Everything works great, handles well, cheap to run, 5 year warranty. Great value at 25K. Base model is the pick for manual, go with the Comfortline Package for the 7 speed DSG driver.

TSI Comfort Line
Absolutely great! Reasons being:
- Even with a somewhat aggressive lead foot, you're still able to manage 8 l/100
- Interior quality is out of this world
- Infotainment system is well built and has a capacitive touch screen (One found on smartphones)
- Dead silent noise within the car
- The turbo makes the car feel a lot more powerful with normal driving than it really should.

Perfect for me!
I recently downsized to the golf and am very pleased. Perfect for parking in shopping car parks with the camera assist. The engine cut out took a bit of getting used to but in this day and age with the delay at lights, it makes perfect sense to reduce idling time. Quiet and easy handling makes this car the best.

Excellent car
Great to drive, really nice inside and out to look at. Feels quality all the way through. I had a rented Toyota Corolla (new one) for around 9 months and went to buy a brand new one because i thought the car was good, went to the dealer and was about to buy when I just thought it was a lot of money for such a plasticy car, i decided to test drive a golf. its the perfect small car, spacious, nice to look at, great fun to drive it, i think it represents real value. Dont read any reviews, just go drive one and make up your own mind.

Great little car, could do with a few more extras
Just bought the new VW Golf 2014 90tsi petrol automatic at Peninsula Volkswagen. I have never had such a friendly buying experience at any other car dealer and trust me, I bought a lot of old AND new cars in my life! The staff at Peninsula Volkswagen (Frankston, VIC) makes you feel like you're special, no matter how much you spend for your new car. I've just got the basic model of the new Golf which could have done with a little more extras like a sunglass compartment which is there but you can't open it. If you want it, you got to pay more - l...Read more
ittle bit greedy :-( You also have to use 95 petrol, but a full tank of 45 litres gets you approximately 770 km through city traffic. Otherwise I am very, very happy with this car, it runs the way I expect German precision to do, it feels very comfortable and there are lots of new gadgets like the electronic hand brake (use only one finger to operate it) and automatic lights and much more. Happy customer, I think in the future I stick with VW :-) Great fuel economy, big touch screen for Radio and other info, new gadgets, extremely friendly sales staff little bit expensive, but that's what I expected for a German car, could do with more simple extrasSimilar opinion? Mk7 90TSi Comfortline
A very complete car and in manual a sheer pleasure to drive. The 90TSi engine is never short for power when you need it and the Bluemotion stop/start technology actually very good (you can turn it off in heavy traffic - I took to it like a duck to water despite being a sceptic. Time will tell though what battery life I can expect. The cabin sound insulation is better than anything I have driven in this class (try to hear the engine idling) and the handling very neutral for a FWD vehicle. Car has only done 3,000kms and I get 850kms from a 50...Read more
l tank. i drove the DSG version too but the manual is so much fun. everything - fuel economy, cabin & general build quality, stop/start tech with electronic handbrake & auto hold, integration of rear camera & front/rear sensors, the infotainment unit with SD card capability, driving data in dash, intuitive controls nothing - probably the most complete car I have owned in 40yrs of driving; waiting for towbar availability2 comments
I've owned my MK7 90TSi Comfortline new since October 2013, and was amazed by the amount of leg room in the back. The Infotainement system is second to none with touchscreen technology and Bluetooth c... Read more
onnectivity....very important for handsfree calls. Handles and performs like a charm plus the fuel economy is also very exceptionable. The only problem I have noticed is that the light beam has been angled too low making the light look too dim at night, maybe something that VW can look into when my first 15K service is due.Similar opinion? Pleasantly surprised
After driving the new Ford Focus Trend for a year (that review is in here too) I had enough of the slow delayed downshift from 2nd to 1st once stationary at lights and the continuous downshift/upshift noise in stop start traffic. I was set on buying an i30 premium auto. Designed and engineered in Germany with more features than a Boeing 747 (well ok, I am exaggerating) what more could you want? Until I decided on a whim, to test drive the Golf TSI90 Mk7 in the same hour as the i30 and OMG! what a difference in driving dynamics and especially ca...Read more
bin noise ( and the i30 is by no means loud). A friend of mine knows a dealer personally and after I had exhausted my negotiation skills, I was referred to them and they rolled out the red carpet including a further $700 off without me even asking and getting me a brand new 2014 model. In terms of quality and features the Golf it is truly amazing. I used to own an A Class Benz and I would rate the Golf Comfortline better than that. From only filling up once every 700+km to virtually no engine noise in the cabin and amazing pulling power in the lower gears to dual zone climate control, touch screen radio, Bluetooth audio and phone streaming and superbly comfortable seats plus Auto everything, I am very impressed indeed. How does the slogan go. Why drive anything else? Lol There is nothing in a total package in this class on the Australian market in my humble opinion. And my last mental hurdle was removed when I found out that it now comes with 5 yr fixed price servicing. Top marks from my wife, daughter and I. Do yourself a favour and at the very least test drive it. You will be impressed. Quality of finish inside and out lowest cabin noise I have ever had, superb transmission and stop start engine, economy, auto everything Nothing so far2 comments
I have ordered the Golf 103tsi. The only extras that we not getting is the Sunroof and Leather.
Plus we are getting the colour we want.
We have to wait up to 5 months yes Five Monthes for it to get here in Perth.
I've ordered a 90TSI DSG yesterday but haven't test driven it (silly?). Have test driven a Polo which broke down half way through the test drive (was really embarrassing for the sales guy who was with... Read more
me) but when we came back to the dealership, I made up my mind to buy a Golf. Always wanted one but always thought VW is too expensive - well, it actually isn't, compared to other cars in the same class and I've got $ 3000 off. Trading my X-Trail in since it's not economical at all and who really needs a 4x4 in the city??? Can't wait :-)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Volkswagen Golf 1.2 TSI DSG
Great car; reliable, affordable to own, practical, comfortable, safe, nice to drive and is very fuel efficient. I can recommend this car to people who are looking for a hatchback that is not super cheap nor super expensive. The only negatives are; the rear seats do not fold completely flat and the air conditioning controls could be easier to read.

I've been waiting 7 months for a genuine VW towbar. I have been told that fitting an after market towbar may void my new car warranty, in relation to the engine and/or transmission.
