Great versatile vehicle
Have owned my XC60 D5 since August 2010 when it had around 1000km on clock. Now has 52,000km. Almost trouble free. Problems only minor. Blown headlight bulb, hit a rabbit which broke plastic mesh under front bumper. Great car for around town or touring. Frugal on fuel. Copes with Dunedin hilly terrain well but fuel consumption rises to average around 10.5l per 100km. Can get around 7 on long trip. Have taken this vehicle across slippery farm land with no problems and have driven on snow covered streets without so much as a wheel slip.

I've had my D5 for more than 12 months now and love it. So economical, tows a 900Kg loaded camper like it isn't even there, roomy, well built. Only issue is a rattle from the right hand side of the passenger cabin somewhere. I just turn up the audio LOL. Handles muddy tracks well, which is about all I will ever do off the blacktop. Buying the car was a very pleasant experience from Trivett in Alexandria. After sales is also proving worthwhile.
Tows beautifully, economical, roomy.
Mysterious rattle in the cabin.

XC60 D5 - Very reliable and frugal SUV - Excellent!
My family and I travelled between Jan - June 2012 with our Volvo XC60 Diesel D5 around Australia. 25.000km, towing a compact caravan and no problem at all. Very strong Diesel engine and great on fuel. We average 7.5 /100 km for normal commuting and when towing a 1.600 kg Caravan 11 l / 100km. Great quality ride on long distances.
The car is now 2 years old and has 50.000 km on the clock. Very reliable and never had any issue.. Great dealer customer service (Melbourne City Volvo). As this car was bought as a corporate vehicule, Volvo is offerin...Read more

Hi Shelby, I had a similar rattle issue with my XC60 right out of the dealers. After weeks of exasperation and annoying rattle I removed the Volvo emblem from the key and problem solved.
