Which size trivet?
Went to a weber display and they advised you can use the next size up trivet in the baby q, just make sure you use the baby q convection tray so as not to inhibit air flow. I use this always and works a treat. Just gives you that little extra space on the trivet for vegetable parcels, spuds etc. Never had a fail and we have cooked every kind of roast going. Webers are fantastic for roasting.

happy owner
Very happy with this purchase. First time I used it did a 4.8 kilo roast pork, crackling not complete so removed it and placed it face down on trivet, watched carefully. 100% crackled to perfection. Done steaks, sausages, salmon, roast beef etc. Previously used a kettle, but too much hassle with coals etc, this just works and works well!

The best company I have ever dealt with
Had an issue with baby q and lid was replaced immediately. Sent by courier the same day. I had heard that Weber in South Australia were great. Would never buy any other brand other than Weber. Brilliant company with brilliant products. This is so rare these days

The PERFECT WEBBER Q
Well after going out to buy a webber q 2 years ago and being talked into a Ziegler & brown BBQ by the sales person at BBQs Galore. ( biggest piece of CRAP I ever bought )
No heat control at all even on the lowest setting, burnt my first roast to a crisp !! True story .
Finally bought a Webber baby Q with the Spit accessory, fantastic did my fist Lamb leg on it the other day and it came up a treat, wish I bought it years ago instead of that other piece of rubbish .
The Webber heat control was spot on, it sat on a consistent 180 degrees n...Read more

Two temperature settings: very hot and scorching!
It's impossible to slow roast anything. You can really only cook things that need a very high heat, so steaks, roasts and any firm cut of meat are off the menu, I'm afraid. The temperature adjustment knob is far too insensitive - the difference between the highest and lowest temperatures is minimal

Hi Sam - what sort of roasts do you want to do? Roasting chickens, legs of lamb (or racks), beef, turkey and pork - all roast fantastically well at temperatures around the 200C or above on the Weber Q... Read more
. Cooking steaks are generally done on HIGH heat, as this sears the outside without overcooking the inside. As mentioned in your question regarding low and slow, the Weber Qs are not really designed for proper low and slow - this requires temps around 110C for things like Beef brisket, Pork ribs, or shoulders etc. A Weber Kettle or Smokey Mountain Cooker are much better suited to this kind of barbecuing.Similar opinion? Great in the beginning
I was very happy with the Baby Q for almost 6 months before I started having problems starting it. The flicker will would not work so we have always had to use an external source to light the BBQ, which can be a little dangerous at times. Whilst I love the compact size of the BBQ it is a real hassle to clean. The gas jets get blocked constantly.
I'm sure a cheaper model BBQ would work just as well as the Baby Q. Definitely would not purchase another one.

Great Little Barbie
Happy with my Baby Q,well constructed and robust, still fine tuning my ability to do a perfect roast.
Have not found any faults with it so far,I like the fact that it is extremely portable, I sometimes take it to the beach,I use a trolley to carry it along with a 6kg gas bottle.
Temperature gauge is very useful to determine proper cooking temp.

Cooks well, but concerned about safety as flame constantly goes out.
The unit does cook really well and is a nice compact unit. I am however very concerned about safety. So many times have I pre heated the unit (located on a covered balcony with no wind), walked inside to get the meat to come back and the flame is out and there is a strong smell of gas (obviously). Unfortunately this bbq requires constant supervision and doesn't allow multi tasking like preparing the salad inside as the meat cooks. Such a shame.

Absolutely Brilliant
I actually was lucky enough to win this BBQ a few months ago. When I saw it and its size I thought, oh it will make a nice second BBQ - well no its our primary BBQ and we use it many times a week.
Its so easy to clean and I found the hot plates are small enough to pop into the dishwasher or kitchen sink for a real deep clean. All I need to do after use is gentle wipe down of plates, wipe the outside over for dust and shut off.
As for cooking, I love it. I actually didn't really use a BBQ much before I got this BBQ. I just left it to hubby...Read more
and we had BBQs maybe once every 2 months. Now with the Baby Q it gets used at least 4-5 times a fortnight. I will cook dinner on it myself and love cooking on it - it's so easy. I have cooked meat that has been marinated and haven't had the same issues other have - but then I do allow alot to drain off before I place it on the hot plate. I find it uses hardly any gas, which is another reason I use it over my stove as it saves me money - we have a electric stovetop. Its great knowing I'm saving money while cooking my meat without oil. I def recommend this BBQ to anyone looking at purchasing one, you will not be disappointed.1 comment

Excellent, as long as......
Excellent as long as you do not use marinade!
Oops! Marinated chicken was a 3 day mistake! The grills were charred black and it took 3 days of soaking, scrubbing, scraping, soaking, scrubbing scraping etc etc etc. I'm lucky i was testing it at home before i took it camping, as it would have been an unfixable disaster. However..... I was scraping at those grills with a sharp knife and no coating of the original grills came off at all. That's amazing actually and a testament to it's quality.
The weber itself is easy to clean, anything just simp...Read more

te cake!!! You name it and the frypans can do it! I recommend these to everyone. They have a detachable handle and 2 of them fit inside the baby q weber and the lid still closes perfectly. Scrambled eggs are a reality now :) The mechanism for the frying pan handle release is top quality and the coating on the pans is tough! What a great accessory to an already stellar product. I have to rate weber and the specialist weber team at hardy's mitre 10 pakenham as excellent! One happy camper. Just a note on the weber duffel bag.... I stated it could do with pockets for the accessories but have noticed that a seperate accessory bag would also work great and keep the weight down. Go buy one people!Weber Barbecues A.Weber

q1200 good cooking but does not work as pressure is low
We have tested drive steak, sea food, roasting beef and chicken. Excellent results but
1) must use the original trivet. None of the bunning's one fit.
2) sensitive to low bottle pressure.
A Teflon sheet or aldi grill plate are workable alternative to weber breakfast plate which is quite expensive.

I did a lot of research before deciding on the Weber Baby Q. Our old bbq was so slow and a roast took hours to cook. After reading all the reviews I went to a demo at out local Camping store & the decision was made, buy it!!
The best chicken I have ever tasted. Still experimenting, haven't tried steak yet. Easy to adjust, gets very hot in a short time & the temperature gauge makes it easy to keep track of the cooking. Love my Baby Q

Great product. Very portable.
Only had the baby Q for just over a week. Bought it to replace a portable bbq that died which we used for making lunches at rest areas on interstate drives, picnics & boat trips. Cooked very quickly with that wonderful taste our charcoal Wber kettle bbq does. Did homemade hamburger patties for the trip home from SA to NSW. Patties stuck to the grill, so did following lunch with the burgers done on the half hotplate. Much better! Bacon didn't stick to the grill. I bought a 2kg cylinder with POL adaptor for trips when space is at a premium. That ...Read more
was before I saw in the booklet you need a 4.5kg cylinder at least. But I don't have room for a 4.5kg cylinder on long trips...too much stuff in the back! Still, it seems to work okay, at least for that purpose. I have a couple of 4.5kg cylinders on my camping trailer I can use for other times. The 10 min preheating time I use to set up everything first to minimise the time, since you don't need to preheat other types of bbq. Still, it's more than offset by the ultra quick cooking time, tenderness and flavour. Easy to clean as well. I would've bought the 2200 if it came with a duffel bag and wasn't $100 dearer. Plenty, plenty accessories right across the Q range. Good support as well. That was a major factor in the purchase. Pity duffel bag doesn't have any pockets/sleeves to carry some of the accessories as well.1 comment

Great little BBQ
Wow from the first steak to the next, this little beauty just keeps geeing better. If you are thinking about a portable BBQ for you and your family, this one is the one. Weber baby Q 1200 will not disappoint. If you do store it for a while between cooks then use your common sense and check all the gas lines etc for little critters that might find a home, a 10 second job.

Weber Barbecues A.Weber
Hi James, we don't recommend the use of two hotplates on any Weber Q model, as it requires adequate ventilation for the heat to circulate around the barbecue. That's why we've created the half-hotplate, not a full one. Let us know if you have any further questions.

Hi - Just bought a Weber Q1200. Specifications say 4.5 kg - 9 kg for LPG cylinder. Local shops had 4 kg or 9 kg. Will 4 kg cylinder be ok to use? Thanks.
1 answer
Weber Barbecues A.Weber
HI Myriam, yes a 4kg is fine to use. We just have standard bottle specifications to correlate with hours of cooking time- 4.5kg = X many hours of cooking time, depending on the size of the barbecue.
