Can i use 2 hot plates on my 1200 q

Hi James, we don't recommend the use of two hotplates on any Weber Q model, as it requires adequate ventilation for the heat to circulate around the barbecue. That's why we've created the half-hotplate, not a full one. Let us know if you have any further questions.

Hi - Just bought a Weber Q1200. Specifications say 4.5 kg - 9 kg for LPG cylinder. Local shops had 4 kg or 9 kg. Will 4 kg cylinder be ok to use? Thanks.

HI Myriam, yes a 4kg is fine to use. We just have standard bottle specifications to correlate with hours of cooking time- 4.5kg = X many hours of cooking time, depending on the size of the barbecue.

Baby Q Premium (Q1200AU)

What setting is preheat and oven setting on my baby q

2 answers
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Yleete, thanks for your question. These instructions are all in your handbook that came with the Q.

On a Baby Q, preheat is the high position (the circle with the lightning bolt)- you light the barbecue and leave it on high for 10 minutes. If your cook requires a convection tray and trivet, ensure you put these in the barbecue for the preheat time.

The roasting setting is two notches above the half-moon circle. This gives you consistent and the optimum temp for most roasting dishes.

Let us know if you need any more assistance.

Hey Guys. I'm looking at getting a Weber for christmas but i can't decide between Q1200 or Q2200. I will be using it at home and on trips away. We are a family of 4 but do have the odd BBQ with family and friends. Please help.

Hi Tallah, if you're planning on using the barbecue for travelling and feeding your family of 4 plus more, I would suggest going for the 2200 size. This gives you plenty of versatility in space and the amount you can cook plus options for accessories such as carts. Let us know if you need any more information.

I'm looking to buy a Q1200 for our off-road camper. The camper has been manufactured with an additional gas outlet at my request. I see that the Q1200 has a standard hose fitting for direct connection to a gas bottle, and I know I can purchase a replacement hose with a bayonet connection however the default length for these appears to be 1.5 metres. Is there a maximum hose length I can use before gas pressure drops to an unacceptable level?
Regards, Keith

I use the Weber Baby Q as an oven while camping. Can the heavy grill be replaced with anything lighter?

Hi Harold, great question. We only have the porcelain enamel, cast iron grills available for the Q range. I can understand they are a little on the heavy side however this is due to their durability and quality materials that they're made from.

We'll pass your feedback onto our product team, as we understand this is a consideration for campers.

Yes, only if you have a creative mind.
The stainless steel grills from a std outdoor house hold bbq cut too shape will do the job. Not sure what brand have them, but they are so much lighter.

Hi Juliana, the differences between the two models include: a higher domed lid, thermometer in the lid and more colour options (black and red, as well as titanium).

Depending on where you're located, our Weber Store network offers ZipPay and have the premium Q range available in store. Let us know if you need a hand finding your local.

Hi they can’t convert it as it’s AGA laws and Weber can’t convert but go see Denise at Oasis Umbrella world 93898363 they have dealt with them before and will look after you.

Hi Jeff, unfortunately, we can't supply parts for barbecues purchased outside Australia & NZ, as they are different components and not covered under our Australian Gas Association agreement, and therefore our warranty does not cover it. Please let us know if you need more information.

Hi Weber representative,
So that means I have an expensive piece of junk in my garden then? Or I am "encouraged" to source my own connectors to get gas from a bottle to my BBQ? It is unfortunate that there is not a universally safe and compliant option that a global company like Weber could implement.
If you are offering to help, I guess while you cannot supply the parts, it would be helpful if you could direct me to someone who can supply them.
Thanks,
Jeff

Hello,
This is a new Baby Q Premium, on first using it, preheating for 10 minutes, it got to 320 degrees celcius. Then turning the dial to a quarter it only reduced to 250 degrees celcius. It seems far too hot. Do you have any feedback/suggestions on this?

I have just bought a q1200 and while cooking a roast noticed the gas was not burning evenly around the ring. It is also making a pouting noise. Is this normal?

1 answer
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Wendy, have you cleaned the burner tube recently? It could be the sound of burning fats/debris inside the tube if it hasn't been cleaned. You can take the entire tube out and soak it in hot water every 5-6 cooks to avoid this, along with cleaning out the cookbox.

If that's not the case, it could be a gas input issue. If you're still seeing the same issues after giving it a good clean, best to give us a call on 1300 301 290 and we can go from there. Thanks!

Why are smaller gas bottles being advertised for use on the Q1200 on the US Weber website?

1 answer

Hi Matt, they are advertised with those bottles because they use a different gas type to us here in Australia & NZ, so they can use the smaller propane canisters on their Qs.

How long to roast a mini chicken breast roll with veggies and what temp?

1 answer
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Helen, we go by barbecue setting rather than temperature when cooking on our barbecues, so customer who have the standard model can cook in the same way without the thermometer in their lid.

You would set your barbecue up for indirect medium roasting, as per your handbook instructions. You can use the 'minute per millimetre' method to figure out cooking time- this is where you measure the thickest part of the meat and then roast for 1 minute for every millimetre of meat, or until the internal temperature reaches 73-75 degrees C.
Hope that helps!

I’m trying to understand why 4.5kg gas cylinders being recommended to be used with the Weber portable q1200 (10kgs when filled with gas).
That’s too heavy to bring to picnics or at the beach. Specially when you have little kids.
There are also 2kg and 3kg gas cylinders available. The 2kg cylinders when filled can produce 12 hrs straight cooking. I think that’s more than enough for quick outings.
Isn’t the point of going portable is to reduce the weight and size of the things you take with you on trips?
I understand that you can’t put the propane canisters like in the US but why not the 2kg or 3kg has cylinders/bottles if they have the pol valve connections available?

1 answer
Weber
Weber Barbecues A.Weber

Hi Patrick, thanks for your question. The 4.5kg-9kg bottles are recommended sizes for efficient use on our barbecues. You can use the 2 or 3kg bottles if they have the same connection, they just don't last as long and when you reach the end of the gas, the pressure drops and the barbecue loses heat (which isn't great if it's in the middle of your cook). We recommend the 4.5-9kg bottles to ensure that you have plenty of gas to get through a great number of cooks before you have to change it over. Hope that helps clarify, and if you have any other questions, please let us know.
