Hi there - the best thing to do is to chat through the options with either your local Weber Specialist Dealer (where you bought it from) or give our customer service team a call on 1300 301 290.

Family Q Q300

I have purchased the family q but have purchased natural gas by mistake. I wish to convert to bottle gas. Can this be done and what would be the cost? Thank you. Jenny

Hi Jenny - have you cooked on the unit yet? If not, try and return it to the retailer you bought it from. Failing that, yes they can be converted, just call our customer service team on 1300 301 290 who can advise the way forward. It's not cheap though, so try getting it swapped over first!

Family Q Q300

How to set up for pizzas?

1 answer

Hi there - you need to use the Trivet and Convection Tray setup - so put the convection tray on the grill, then the trivet sits on top - then you place your pizza stone on top of the trivet and preheat on HIGH for 20 mins to get the stone really hot.
Use the pizza tray to make your pizza on it, then place the pizza (on the tray) on top of the pizza stone on the bbq. Cook for about 10- 15 mins or until browned on top.

Family Q Q300

I have a Weber Family Q 300, we bought the weber "trailor made" hot plate at the same time and it keeps sliding off the holders every time I use a BBQ scraper to either turn food or clean one side or the other drops down onto the burner and being in use food half cooked its a pain in the arse trying to get a extremely hot heavy cast iron flat plate back up in position without ruining the rest of the bbq by turning the gas off. I have the plate on the right hand side like the instructions say. Has anyone else got this problem if so how do I fix it? Don't really want to spend another $80 on a new plate seeing as it's only 8 months old.

Family Q Q300

We have the Weber Q 300 can you please advise us how to use a cast iron wok on it?

Thank you

Hi Katrine and Rick - I've never been asked that before! And to be honest, the Weber Q isn't really designed to use a proper "wok" which typically requires a huge amount of direct flame heat to get to the temperatures you need to use it in a traditional way. However, although I haven't tried this with a wok, you could simply place the wok directly on the grill, and preheat on HIGH with the bbq lid down, for around 15mins, maybe even 20 mins, then the wok should be hot enough to use. Just flick some water on it to check. Cast iron woks can be quite heavy, that's why I think a longer preheat may be required. See how you go guys! Cheers, Dave@WeberAustralia

Family Q Q300

Recently purchased the weber q305. The 9kg gas bottle (from Bunnings on a swap n go) doesn't seem to fit in the baseplate. Other forums have suggested that weber stock a larger baseplate. Also rang weber who advised that I need to purchase an Australian gas bottle as the dimensions would suit.

Has anyone else had a similar experience and how did you work it through?

Bunnings have different size bottle bases, you need to tell them it is for a weberQ. I have had this problem before but now know which bottle base I need

G. Hi
G. Hi

There are two different sized 9kg gas bottles a Shorter fatter one and a narrower higher one. Both will fit but one is better than the other

Hi Andrew,
As G said, there are differently shaped 9kg gas bottles out there; have a chat to your gas retailer, and they should be able to find one for you that will fit on the gas plate.
Most standard bottles will fit, however, some are slightly wider and people find them difficult to fit. Hope that helps!

Family Q Q300

Can anyone tell me what size (whole) Turkey can be cooked in a Q 300?

HI Moggie
If it's a Q305 it will fit around 5kg, where as a Q320 will fit up to 6-6.5kg size. Turkeys come in all different shapes and sizes though, so sometimes this varies a bit.
Sorry for the delay, but hope that helps.
