Westfield Southland
The paid parking issue is not going away. I have a relative who works there and sales staff are being harassed by customers telling them to hurry up and serve them as they are on a time clock. It is no fault of the sales staff and they should not be treated this way. Also, free parking after 6pm, what a joke. If you arrive at 4pm and believe that you are okay for 3 hours free parking, as you will be there after 6pm, forget it. You will be charged when you leave at 9pm. You have to physically enter the car park after 6pm to get it free until 9pm...Read more
. So no difference to the first 3 hours free. The car park is now horrible to get around and to narrow as they have squashed more spaces in. Where are the trolley bays...gone...there are now more trolleys left in the car parks. It is not a pleasant shopping experience anymore, as customers are rushing around so they do not have to pay to park their car. Amazing how they removed all posts regarding the paid parking on their Facebook page. Has to be the warmest shopping centre I have been into, even in summer. Custom has dropped off....what did they expect. April 5th 2018 Update: Car park awful I am lucky to go to Westfield Southland once a month now. Ever since the paid parking came into effect, the carpark is horrible to get around, the parks are crammed together and they changed the lay out. The centre itself is old and worn down with a lot of retailers gone and changing. It is not enjoyable anymore to go there. As I am unable to write a negative review on Facebook anymore, as they block all those, I will post it here. Not that they care or respond. Loss of custom also does not bother them. Very poor.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Westfield Gift Card is sucks!
Westfield charges you $5.95 surcharge with every gift card you purchased. Even though you only buy a $50 gift card! I was charged 3x $5.95 for buying $250 gift card. I would give a “0”star if there is one! This is sucks!!! Would never buy their card again and will spread the words not to buy it!

Ridiculous Charges
I have just discovered that buying a $50 Westfield gift card through Woolworths means I have been slugged a $5.95 admin fee for the privilege. After scrutinising the card I can see now that this fee was stated on the front of the card but in very small writing. That is an 11.9% charge - that is just ridiculous. I will certainly never buy one again.

Southland
Southland needs a major makeover.
Walking from one end to the other end of the centre is a hike.
Some stores that used to be available haven’t been for a while, yet, are at smaller centres.
All the car parks near stores like Big W, Woolies and Target are inadequate.
Way too complicated. So many ways to turn, so many one-way areas. It’s like a maze.
They look bad as well. Obvious cracks in concrete, faded paint, unlevel areas.
It’s also the warmest and stuffiest shopping centre I’ve been to.

Why should a gift card have an expiry date?
I was given a gift card and now that I wanted to use it I was told that it was expired. Why should there be an expiry date on it? Surely it should be the same as cash, no?
What a rip off! Not only will I never buy one but this will surely put a damper on me shopping at Westfield.

Westfield Gift Card ripoff
Do not buy Westfield Gift Cards.
If you buy them via Westfields website they charge you a minimum of $3, or if you are unlucky enough to be fooled like I was at Coles, you will be charged $6 (!) for the pleasure of buying a $100 gift card. This is an outrageous amount (6%) to charge on top of the face value when you consider most gift cards charge nothing and even a credit card fee is only 1.5%. Of course the fee is in tiny print whilst $100 is in very large print so that's what you expect to be paying: $100. The killer is that when I disco...Read more
vered I was being charged this I asked for a refund it but was refused because, 'we've already activated the card'. Westfield's response when I requested a refund was along the lines of, 'too bad, we don't do refunds, it's all in the terms and conditions on the back of the card...'. Yeah, thanks for that.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Very disappointing
Seriously poor product & service. The recipient we gave the gift card was overseas for most of the 12 month period that the card was valid for. When we requested an extension or a credit note, we were informed that as the card could be used in 8,000 outlets, they saw no reason to accommodate our request. As all 8,000 outlets are in Australia and the gift card recipient ended up being out of the country unexpectedly for most of the 12 months, the answer we received was sheer stupidity, to say the least. Never again.

Never Buy
Never buy a Westfield gift card, especially the gold one that is supposed to work "anywhere". I was given a gold gift card and told it could be used at any retailer - even if not in a Westfield. I tried using it at an Office Works and it was refused. Do not waste your money. They only last 12 months as well. When that was questioned, the response was "12 months is a very long time". It depends on where you spend your time. If, for some reason, you might have been overseas for a time that 12 months isn't that long. The $2.95 for red and $4.95 for gold activation fees are a total rort. It does NOT cost $4.95 to activate anything in this day and age - total rip off.

Don't Buy a Westfield Gilfcard At Woolworths
I purchased a Westfield $50.00 Giftcard from Woolworths and later discovered it cost $55.95 due to the misleading fine print on the front (plus a $5.95 purchase fee in very small print). Under the Australian Consumer Law the Final Price needs to be the most prominent of all prices displayed but nowhere is $55.95 displayed at all.

A rip off - dont waste your money !!!!
1. 12months expiry - seriously !!!!
2. No room for extensions - $300 down the drain - pretty much TOO BAD is what I got.
3. 'SERVICE' fee PER CARD (regardless of purchasing at their service desk or if you order online) - for real !!!!
4. They are Probably charging their retailers an astronomical 'SERVICE' fee too, for accepting their gift cards from consumers - which explains why, not ALL stores within their WESTFIELD centres, will accept this ridiculous gift card - pointless when major stores have their own gift cards without the fees WE...Read more

Terrible. I rather buy other gift cards.
1. Only 1 year expired period, most gift cards give 2 years.
2. I contacted Westfield gift card team before expired date re the extended expired date as per the instruction given by customer centre at Westfield. A few days later, they said it's expired.
3. I've purchased Westfield gift cards worth over thousands of dollars for my clients until that date. Now I buy David Jones or Woolworths for my clients.

Worst Gift Card support Team ever
Update : After I left my review here, I was sent another card and it worked ! So the team does read reviews ! I am happy that I got the the card and hence changed the rating !
First review before edit :
This is my first bad review of any product/service. I never usually go and write bad about anything but westfield gift cards team pushed me over the edge. I was gifted 2 * $100 gift cards 4 months ago. Used one and it worked fine. However, the second one I tried did not work and later found out it was cancelled. I did not want to contact ...Read more

Westfield in need of Cultural Change
I'll try keep this short and sweet. Always wanted to do a review about Westfield and plaza's, but procrastinated since, last-time I walked inside one of those centers their was always something fallible and idiosyncratic. A staunch oldie once told me to never shop from the same store twice.
Hailing that advice has habited my shopping itinerary to somewhat going from a small bargain shop in Robertson to a craze mall at Bondi never shopping in that same district until 6 months of my round had lapsed. If you try this you will be amazed by the p...Read more
eople you meet and the economic dispersion of wealth. Well apart from west-fields end of fulfilling their shareholders, of been way too expensive, (because the tenants have to show up with the rent somehow) they could also give those golden trickled toilets a good sanitized clean out from time to time, attend to plumbing from proceeds they are getting. Food courts have become like senior citizen meals on weals, with those custodial dining seats with names on those who regularly visit. some people like to hang around those courts all day like a shift worker at a coal mine. I dont have problem with all that but at least management could come down with a drastic culture or change on how to move on shoppers to do other interesting things...foods courts have become like rest-bite camps. concierge desk....my advice don't loose anything. although easy to spot, just look for the high heel girl with that saturated makeup wearing a red corset top. Ever notice she looks busy at been busy all the time. I once forgot my car keys in one of those shoe stores, had to go back and ask but they had given it to the concierge desk, said to myself "here we go another 25 minute wait before she gets of her phone". just seconds before an urgent announcement comes in...still waiting. Center Security.... Don't know whether to call them ushers, cleaners or shopping center attendants, Every time i spot one they seem to be versatile, make shifting or phase shifting priority and trying to make people happy by pretending to hold a mop or checking their earpieces so it wont fall out. We have some really old great Alpha phonetics down here although they are good at conversation and laugh, but can be terrible at chasing a bratty kid trying to run a skateboard down a travelator.Similar opinion? Car park condition
Westfield in Cannington needs new car park upgrade, Westfield collect millions in rent and never spend any dollar on landscaping and car parks.
Whole car park is in real bad condition from last 10 years.
Support this review to make Westfield carousel to do something about their ugly car park.
Thanks for reading

Never Again With Westfield Vouchers
I had about $96 left on my voucher which I wanted to use to make a purchase but didn't realise that it expired by 2 weeks. Went to see the concierge who advised that I need to email the Gift Card centre and explain my situation but was blatantly declined. Westfield is more interested in profiteering and fulfilling their shareholders needs first without a care for the paying public. Will be sticking with other Vendor Gift Cards who have a more lenient expiry terms.

Niggardly selfish and profiteering
I bought approx $1000 worth of gift cards 2013 xmas, and gave them all as gifts apart from one worth $200. It was misplaced in a move AND FOUND 3 DAYS AFTER THE EXPIRY very early in 2015. I contacted Westfield immediately and after a week of redirecting me to another office etc etc, and requesting I write a letter with all the details, I was told they would decide on the possibility of extending the card at the "next meeting" several WEEKS LATER. It was of course complete rubbish and a waste of time- there was never going to be an extension, as...Read more
so many others have found out. Apparently there is a 15% non-use on these gifts cards which is all direct profit. Just give your friends/ family money in a nice card if you don't have a gift for them. Never buy a Westfield Gift Card.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Don't buy their gift cards
I was given $250 in Westfield gift cards, but I misplaced them and didn't find them again until after they'd expired. I contacted Westfield and they refused to reinstate them, or even re-issue them at a lower value. So they basically received $250 for nothing.
They only give you 12 months to use them. Coles Myer cards give you two years. Buy them instead.
