Send it back...if you call WH customer support they will probably aks all the usual questions... how old is the unit etc.. then if it's just out of warranty they will more than likely offer you a tech...

Read moreers are cleanable in fact they need to be cleaned so that they dont gunk up but of course you best check with the store you plan on buying the unit from. I think some units can be vented into the ceiling though im not sure if thats a good idea. good luck
Absolutely no! You replace carbon filters.. u can get replacement charcoal . You clean aluminium mesh ones. Its not impossible to use unit without charcoal if recirculation . They just reduce odour. Mesh catches oil vapour
