Terrible waste of Money
Bought this cleaner for a new pool. 5 days of trying to get it to "randomly" clean the pool and I gave up. Have watched the DVD multiple times, even followed unit with snorkel but it wouldn't travel to far end of pool ! Don't waste your money. We wanted a dolphin and should have waited.
Looks good.
Doesnt cover all the pool. Stcikes to one end.

Do not purchase!
I purchased this as a replacement for the 17 year old cleaner that had met the end of its life span. Two years old and I have replaced the diaphragm 3 times, ($50 each) the rubber foot has disintegrated and the cleaner itself has completely deteriorated. The pool is constantly maintained and kept crystal clear. I have attempted to contact Zodiac to make a warranty claim, no surprise here, no reply. Complete waste of money.
The colour??
Everything else, expensive parts, rapid decline pf product, never climbed walls, 0 warranty support.

Was ready to throw it out!
I had problems with cleaner starting and stopping and then not moving at all. I had two pool maintenance people come to check the cleaner as it would just not move. The first one gave up and told me to get the diaphragm checked (see if it was the right one) as I had just had it replaced. I had it checked and it was the right one. The second guy (actually he was the third because I had the diaphragm checked at place of purchase) almost gave up but when he was assembling the parts back for about the third time he noticed their were a few teeth th...Read more
at had broken off the cup assembly/cassette chamber and it didn't lock into place properly. He suggested gluing it or buying a new cleaner if I couldn't get the part replaced. I was going to glue it but after a bit of fiddling around I managed to lock the remaining teeth into place and the part was firm and had no movement. So I suggest if you have changed the diaphragm make sure the cup assembly/cassette chamber is firmly locked into place as you will still be able to put all the other parts back together on the head. There is no mention of this part of the assembly/reassembly in the manual. My cleaner is working perfectly again and I am glad I persisted as I was ready to throw it out and was doing research into finding a new one. If it stops/comes apart again I'll try gluing it and if that fails I'll try and get a replacement part. Too many parts to assemble in the head of the cleaner

T5
Don't buy absolutely useless spends all it's time at the deep end of the pool hardly ever moves
Have had much better pool cleaners in the past
All I ever do is spend half my time moving it manually
Also if you have leaves in the pool forget it the diaphragm will just get blocked

Don't buy !!
I have used the Zodiac G3, G4 and T5. The T5 is the worst of the lot. I have spoken to the Zodiac engineer several times about it's lack of performance--to no avail. It gets stuck no matter how I adjust the suction or the weighting. What fixes one thing causes another. This unit seldom gets the center of the pool clean--actually seldom touches the center. I would rather have the G4 if it had a reliable silicon diaphragm. I suggested the silicon diaphragm to the Zodiac CEO and all they did was steer me to the T5. Also, the locking hose sections ...Read more
prohibit using generic sections. They just don't fit. Your money can be spent more wisely. I do not recommend this unit. The diaphragm might last the entire season. Gets stuck. Runs in circles. Unit specific hose sections are not interchangeable with generic sections.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
T5 review
2nd barracuda that I have owned and absolutly hopeless! 5months old and already had the centre foot plate cracked and diaphragm split! Never buy another one absolute rubbish, have contacted zodiac and all their willing to do is send replacement parts. Continually jamming. 1st cleaner G2 continually replacing split diaphragms.
Parts failed after 5months, very noisy while operating.

Hopeless
I have just instailed a new Zodiac T5 and it does not measure up to my expectations.
All it wants to do is climb the walls and it gets stuck on the bottom step.
I have adjusted the bump wheel and weight many times but no improvement.
Also leaves fly up when the cleaner approaches and will not clean centre of pool.
Previous cleaner was a Hayward and it did a much better job.

Good
Would recommend anyone looking for a suction pool cleaner to consider the T5. Cost to purchase was also quite reasonable.
Replaced a Hayward Pool Vac Ultra (too expensive to replace parts) - very happy with the T5 to date. Covers all of the pool and very quiet. Simple to use and instal. If there is wear & tear then only a few moving parts to replace.
None to date

quite good value for money but def not as good as our old pool cleaner which was alot more efficient
It does the job we need it to do but so extra bits
wasnt quite long enough due to the shape of our pool nd we had to buy some extensions for it
good value
misses some spot in the pool

It is hopeless if you have leaves. The throat gets blocked with even small leaves. I have reverted to the old hand vacuum.

Can i use the t5 without cleaning Walls? I just want to clean the floor.
1 answer
Yes you can but it will require some fine tuning . You may have to fiddle with the Position of the weight ring first then try adjusting the Zodiac 3 position pressure flow lever where your system attaches to the skimmer . If you have a skimmer plate with a adjustable flow rate valve you can try to alter the flow pressure that way as well. End of day it is not an exact one solution fits all so best of luck .

Just bought my t5 working well on the walls, floor but not picking up leaves.. Got it on the lowest suction. 1. Any ideas?

They are only designed to suck up smallish leaves. The rubber diaphragm is not very large or robust so you may try a more efficient plastic diaphragm ( talk to your local pool shop who should have one) Only proplem is this May void your warranty if still under 2 yrs old.
Also just make sure that the cleaner head sits flush to the pool surface all the time ( you can easily check this by observing it in the pool when not operating ( may also have to adjust the position of the “weight ring” or even fit a second one.
That’s about all I can offer. Good luck.
Thanks for that, it's cleaning beautifully, just not the gum leaves, guess I'll just have to hook them out myself. I can switch over to the manual vac every one in awhile..
This autumn has been an incredible pain. My T5 duo would only work for sometimes as little as 10 minutes before stopping. Even the small leaves would get stuck. Thank goodness autumn is over. Already dreading next year. Ill check out the plastic diaphragm mentioned above.
