AAMI, worst insurer

published

Hi,
I am just warning anyone with a new or near new prestige vehicle with an AAMI comprehensive insurance.
AAMI does not have a preferred repairer capable of repairing a prestige vehicle that has been involved in any major accident that requires a major repair that includes welding panels.
AAMI will allow the vehicle to be repaired disregarding what the manufacture specify.
They will cut corners on the repair to save money.
Please do yourself a favour and pick an insurer that has a choice of repairer and don't make the same mistake I did.

Very Professional

published

Made me feel extremely at ease. Very professional, easy process. What could’ve been very stressful was very painless. Highly recommended. Most people only leave reviews when they’ve had bad experiences, so I think AAMI’s score is unjustified.

After I made a windscreen claim they put my policy up by $200

published

I made a windscreen claim with AAMI last year and it was repaired quickly with no issues, as expected. However, when my policy came up for renewal this year the premium was $200 higher and the car value was lower than last year (obviously with depreciation). I rang up to ask about this and the customer service officer told me that the premium would have gone up because I made a claim on the windscreen. So I pay AAMI for the service of covering me but then get charged again when AAMI actually have to come good on their side.

I was also told that the car is covered for full market value, but then why would AAMI put a price on the policy.

When I expressed how wrong this seemed she offered me a discount of around $130.

Horrible

published

Both myself and my partner have been insured with AAMI for a few years. Let me tell you: They love getting the money for a service they don't provide. When it was time to provide one though, they didn't. I had a very small accident with my partner's car - in which both me and the other driver were at fault (our mirrors touched millimetrically on the midline of the road) - and MY insurance company supported the other person who wasn't even insured with them. They decided that this person was right, only, and that the 1cm long purely cosmetic scratch on their mirror was worth the full replacement at the cost of $750+ (a mirror!!!!) and 2 days worth of rental of another vehicle while this person's car was in "repairs". Disgusting.

The best Insurance company I have dealt with

published

I had to make a claim on my car. The girl on the phone made it seem very easy. They booked the mechanic the next day. They even paid for my cab home. They are a great company to deal with

No Fault claim Car Repairable write off with no communication

published

Car was reversed into whilst parked. Used my insurance company AAMI as thought it would be quicker and easier to deal with. After one call car was taken, after missing a call, I returned the call back to AAMI only to find car had been written off. Totally gutted as car was great little car with minimal damage (but deemed uneconomical to repair) only used once a week and cared for carefully from nearly new. Communication was terrible (Sorry non existent) and was not even offered the chance to pay the extra $800 to fix the car. Now i have to find a car with cost and inconvenience to myself. Lucky I was with AAMI

What an excellent industry and service!!!! Coming from a non-customer whom as a courtesy had her car fixed!

published

I am not a member of AAMI insurance, but after what they did for me, things may change in the future. They were truly marvellous and I cannot express gratitude enough.
My car was accidentally swiped by another driver. Details were passed and I was informed AAMI would take care of the damage. This in itself shows that AAMI customers are some of the most secure and happy. And, BOY!, did they take care of it, not only did they do a brilliant job on my car, but they patched up some scratches, I had done myself on it months earlier, and that was not even part of the accident. They called it as a courtesy, I call it Brilliant Service!!! I also call it living up to the fantastic values they set out to follow.

AAMI is the best insurance company ever dealt with

published

My car was stolen recently. Contacted AAMI and the response I received was excellent. The customer care executive was very kind and polite. She organised a rental car for me. They gave me genuine updates when I contacted them. My car was written off and AAMI transferred the agreed amount of money to my account with out delay. I recommend AAMI to my friends and family.

Stay away from AAMI

I have been with AAMI for last 5 years, and last month lodged my first claim. The claim lodged on 19th of June, and now it's 23rd of July, I haven't got any updates from AAMI, called several times and representative said will need to contact assessment officer who is only person to proceed the assessment, but even representative can't get the line connected, called this officer again and of course no luck to get through.

Do not get AAMI to insure anything you own!

published

3 weeks ago my partner was in a car accident
With my new born baby.
The other driver was at fault
His insurance company is aami
They refuse to look at the car and are making things extremely difficult to get our brand new family car back on the road!!
What is wrong with these companies????
They take everyone’s money and don’t do the job they are supposed to do!
Please use any other insurance company
Stay away from AAMI

AAMI is disgusting

published

This is an absolute disgusting insurance that I have ever been into, they do not understand and help you out all they say is that “that’s the policy” I don’t know why people is insured with them. It’s wast of time spending more then an hour on the phone and getting no help. It feels like they’re just using people and they don’t even know what the market value is they just find some cheaper value and tell you that’s all I can help with absolutely disgusting. People stop wasting your money and time with a insurance that doesn’t even value nothing

Asks you to pay the excess before even looking at the claim

published

AAMI asks you to pay full excess before processing your claim. They don't even looked at it, who is at fault is not determined, there is no cost estimate of the repairs.

They simply ask you to pay the full excess, or they will chase you within the next 2 days to get the money.

I believe it is a clear case of infringement of (non) due diligence, and should be a matter to a complain to ASIC.

AAMI is part of Suncorp group, I would avoid all of them altogether.

AAMI are hopeless

published

If your after an insurance company that will not help you when you have a claim AAMI is the way to go.
That are frustratingly slow and after your 3 or fourth hour on the phone you may begin to think your time is more valuable that the claim. Don't matter how cheap they are if they don't help they are no use

Have several policies and have just renewed all...had a couple of non-fault claims on eldest daughter's car. AAMI took control, organised absolutely everything, notified all parties of every step along the way, resolved incredibly fast...super impressed!

You can insure the car while including her as the main driver. However, it is still your car and the insurance will pay you if something happened to your car.
