Deceptive expiry dates on cassettes
And now another problem for Accu-Chek Mobile. I notice an expiry date on the packet, but when the cassette is inserted into the tester the final date comes up 6 months short. That is, the sealed packet date is say 2017- 06 but the real stop date is 6 May 2016! Don't accept a cassette pack unless there is at least 8 months to expiry!

Perfect for home use and travel
I had a little trouble early but for the last 2 years I have had no trouble at all. I have a zero failure rate. All 50 tests on the cassette are used. None wasted. That gives me about 50c per test. To my mind that is value for money. Great unit and very easy to use.

Unit is fine - Cassettes are hopeless...
I've used the Mobile for over 2 years. When it works, it works well. But I can guarantee you'll never get 50 tests out of a 50 test cassette. When you pay for 50 test strips, you get 50 test strips. When you pay for a 50-test cassette, you'll get 45 tests on average. Every 10th cassette should be FREE - that would be fair considering the error rate of this device. I've put up with it long enough, going to look elsewhere.

Great! Over 6 years use
I first bought the Accu-chek Mobile six years ago. Accu-chek makes great glucometers and the Mobile is no exception. I upgraded to the newer version yesterday and I find its almost half the size, half the weight and more accurate. It's so nice and convenient and takes the biohazard risk out of the equation like many other machines. It's so quick to use, no one will even notice what happened.
To the people complaining it takes too many batteries, I honestly change mine like every 9-10 months if that, and I test five times or more a day. Obviously they didn't sign up to the Accu-chek courtesy program because they send replacement batteries when needed. If anything breaks, it gets replaced. Nothing to complain about!

Very poor
I have been a type 1 diabetic for 50 years and I have been using this Mobile meter for the past 6 months. It is without doubt the worst product for this purpose that I have ever used. I regularly experience between 10% to 20% failures informing me that the drop is too small or an error has occurred. This is despite me making every effort to expel as much blood on to the testing area as possible. This is evidently a known problem to Roche, so what are they doing to help resolve the matter?

Best glucose monitor I have used
Having used this product for close to a year now, I have found it to be reliable, easy to use with very few error messages.
It does require a fair drop of blood but for most regular users I would think that once aware of that it should not be too difficult to adjust to.
The test strips being in a self contained canister of 50 means fewer hassles when taking levels. Everything being self contained within and on the unit itself makes my life quite a bit easier.
Since using this product I have found it far easier to work out what food will give me a spike in glucose levels. I am far more likely to test regularly and after eating a new food if a unit is easy to use. For me this one allows that.

Accu-Chek Mobile
I was wondering where Bruce got his cost of £1 per test. When I changed over my Diabetes Nurse checked costs and they were no more expensive that previous meters I had used. I find the mobile best one I have had for ease of testing.

Absolutely genial.
I am on my second and have not have any problem whatsoever with it. I am wondering of all negative reviews are from people who don't wash their hands and dry them thoroughly before testing?
I am 71 yrs. old and would not change because of it's ease of use.

rubbish meter
I have been diabetic for over 45 years and have never used a meter that gives so many error messages. Other meters nowadays are designed to use minuscule amounts of blood - this thing wants a bucket load. Batteries need to be replaced endlessly. I haven't tested myself several times in a few minutes but guess I'd be like others and get multiple readings. Heaven help the poor parents trying to use this thing on a child!

Great all in one but not so little meter!
At first I hated it's bulk and it's retro 90's mobile phone styling. Now I love it. Super accurate, and an all in one solution. I'm a jacket and trousers kinda guy, I hate man bags, so not having to carry around pricker, strips etc is great. Very discreet to use. Most of the time no-one bats an eyelid.

Hopeless
I have found the meter to be just hopeless. Nearly 50% of tests are aborted with the "Droplet To Small"message. It then uses another test. The droplet is NOT too small. In fact it is big enough to actually run off my finger. Accu Check support eventually agreed to send me a free cassette of 50 strips. That seemed OK for the first ten or so tests. Now today it has failed a further four tests with two failing yesterday. I am giving up as I can't afford the cost of the cassettes. They work out at over £1.00 per test in the UK so in two days I have wasted nearly £6.00 and worse than that still no reading.

Accu chek mobile
Looked good, sounded good, good price - free, good idea, convenient, but just so poorly executed - an absolute pile of rubbish.
One star because there isn't an option for none. So many error messages: 'Defective cassette, replace cassette', 'Error, retest', and it needs practically a bucket of blood each time you test. My cassette usage is horrendous, I get around 30 results per cassette if I'm lucky, the remainder are all errors. Accu Chek should be ashamed of itself passing rubbish like this onto people who's life and hea...Read more

Too many errored results
This is my second meter after the first one failed completely. However I have noticed the meter errors more frequently than it gives accurate blood sugar levels. I think this is a deliberate act by the manufacturer to extract more money from the consumer as the cartridges are where they make their money. This one is going in the bin and I will buy the old fashioned type from another manufacturer as the Accu-Chek Mobile clearly has a design defect and should be recalled.

Not happy !
In my 25 plus years of being a diabetic I have never come across such a dangerous and ureliable product. Within five minutes I did five different readings and got 5 very different readings. It all started with the error message E3 then I got 27 and then the lowest reading was 16.4. I contacted the company and found they were unhelpful. The response I got as to why there was such varations in my readings was "this is acceptable". Really ???!!! Not in my books. My jaw just dropped as I could not believe what I was hearing. I will not use thi...Read more
s monitor again and I have moved on to a competitor's product. I just cant risk the implications of such variations on the readings especially as I am on a sliding scale as to the amount of insulin I take. I depend on accurate readings so that I can adjust my dosage. This is a dangerous product. In theory it is a great idea but it needs to be improved greatly. 17 April 2015Similar opinion? Convenient, but at what price?
The idea behind the meter is great.
Unfortunately for the user though is it has far too many error messages. In my expierence the meter gives up an error message at a rate of around 3-4 out of ten tests. It can be very temperamental and give up many in a row. This is exceptionally frustrating when tests are running low.
It also has a few issues with consistancy of its results. I'm not sure on the accuracy of it. However, you can test twice and the meter disagrees with itself. Most worrying when you have to administer insulin on the back of its results.
In short, I would avoid this meter until it's many flaws are addressed. There are many better meters out there and accu-check themselves make better models.

Useless
I am type I diabetic for over 37 years and have tried many testing meters. This one is by far, the worst. It is completely unreliable. I get error messages about 50% of the time rendering each cassette to 25 tests rather than the 50 that I pay for. I contacted Accucheck to describe the problems that I was having with the meter and the representative gave me some corporate thoughspeak to basically tell me that I was not using the meter correctly and storing the cassettes in the wrong place. Nonetheless, I was able to encourage her to send m...Read more
e a new meter and box of cassettes. My second meter worked well for about a week and is now batting .500 like its predecessor. This is a very innovative, convenient way to test BG provided the product works. But it doesn't. So, Accucheck, I hope that you read these blogs because you need to get this product to work, or remove it from the shelves altogether.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
One of the best!
Have two meters and find them very effective. Of course you need to thoroughly wash your hands beforehand. Believe the design of all blood glucose testers should adopt the best feature of this meter, that is, it is strip free and has no handling of individual strips. There can be a minor irritation with using too small a drop of blood, but feedback is given by the meter. Reduction in its weight would also be an enhancement in the future.

Absolute waste of plastic! Dangerous!
I switched to the accu check mobile tester on the recommendation of my chemist, because I couldn't find the correct strips for the machine I had, as I'd bought it in England. The machine seemed great at first; sleek design; compact; lightweight. That was until the constant "Error E-3" readings, wasting the expensive tape inside.
However, it wasn't until a few months later that the real problems started. After eating a salad, I teated my blood as routine. 20.6!! I panicked and checks again. 10.4. I checked again. 6.8. I emailed the company an...Read more
d I was told to call a 1800 number within work hours. I explained that I work full time so this wasn't possible, and requested that they call me after hours. They couldn't. Morons! This is the only machine I have and I rely on it for my very serious disease. I can't accurately check my blood any more and by health is in danger. Thanks accu chek!Similar opinion? Too Many Error Results
My partner has Type 1 diabetes and takes his readings between 6 and 8 times a day. The reader often gives error readings and we have found that if it gives a too small a drop reading it will then give 4 or 5 error readings consecutively, thus wasting a huge amount of the tape.
Convenience of not having all those plastic strips and foil to dispose of.
Way too much wastage of tape through frequent error messages.

Pretty average
Things I like:
1. Easy to use on the go and with a little one to look after
2. No testing strips left lying around
Things I don't like:
1. The test failures - I test approx 8 times a day and will have at least one test failure each day. It would be nice if the error was a little more informative as I don't think I've ever not put enough blood on the strip and that is the error message that always shows

Contact Roche they will usually repair/replace the unit (in UK) if faulty.
This is my experience only as a user but I cannot speak for the supplier/manufacturer

hello i would to know if you have any diaries at all? my name is Laura i have to write down what my sugar levels are
1 answer
Hello Sam. I have been keeping a food diary for a couple of weeks or more now and do a tst before each meal and two hours after. It's been a real eye opener for me and helped me compile a list of what not to have's and what seem to consistently keep my readings lower. I also find the results can be reflective on the meal before the one you've just had also. Well worth doing, but we're all different, so need to do our own to see what does and doesn't suit us as individuals. Whole new way of living this is! I changed my accu check mobile for a new one as it seems the old one was faulty. The new one is working fine. Good luck, Lorraine

How do I get a accu-Chek mobile for free? I have been a type two diabetes n or insulted as well.

Hi Mary, I originally bought an Accu-Chek machine back in 2003 when I was diagnosed as I was advised to test even though only on tablets then. I registered my machine and Accu-Chek provided testing solution & batteries free when I asked. Since then they have regularly sent me new machines as and when. I would say even if you have to purchase one it is worth it as it is so easy to use and does away with fiddly strips. I also checked with my Practice Nurse before I started using it as to costs of supplies and it works out much the same. Good luck.
Hi. I am located in the UK and we are able to get free Accu-Check Mobile meters through the Accu-Check customer service contact number. I may be wrong but I cannot see a free meter for the same in Australia. It may be worthwhile though contacting customer service in Australia on 1800 251 816 and ask them. You may be lucky.
Best wishes. Martyn
