Expensive White Elephant
I have had this item for a couple of years now. The replacement cartridges are expensive and you have to be careful about when they expire because they become useless. The have recently been removed from the NDSS, so unless you want to pay a lot of money, you have no choice. The testing is not reliable and you get frequent errors, sometimes to the extent that you have to turn the machine off.
It's very slick, but why pay more?
Easy Testing
Expensive, unreliable and not on NDSS.

Great idea, but definitely needs some improvements.
I have had two of these units for a while now and overall found them reliable. I have not experienced issues with BSL accuracy as some people have reported.
My main issue with the Accu-Chek Mobile is:
If you have a problem with the cassette containing the "strips", e.g an error messages appears, you can loose the remainder of the available tests e.g. if there is a problem at test 47, you can loose the remaining 47 tests - not just just one test strip. This has happened to me more than once. Sometimes you can loose one test opportunity, ot...Read more
her times you have to throw the whole cartridge away... what a waste. If there were no or few cartridge issues, I would recommend it... but now, I'd only give it a recommendation with warnings. No test strips and 50 Tests per unit is really great. Noisy. Large - just a bit smaller would have been great. Problems with cartridges as stated above.Similar opinion? Great idea but not so good in action
I love the general idea of this meter. I moved from an optium exceed (fed up with foil everywhere) and initially loved the concept of 50 blood tests in one machine. This however is the only thing of any real use on the mobile. I have found in the 8 months of use that it is too inconsistent in both its results and in its ability to complete a test without issuing an error code. It seems to need a lot of blood and it often causes an error when it seems to have a fair bit of blood on it. I find it noisy particularly if testing late at night in bed...Read more
. I dropped my first one from a very small height as I lifted it off the table and it gave me a permanent error and accuchek kindly replaced it with a warning that they wouldn't do that again :-( I am due to change insulin pumps soon an wanted to move to the accu chek combo but am now rethinking that and may stay with Medtronic as this experience has made me feel nervous about the manufacturer and support if it was needed. In summary I love the idea of 50 test strips in one machine but feel that the mobile is not up to its real job of blood testing easily and accurately. All in one package Inconsistent blood readings and functionality1 comment

e needles up. Cartridge only went half through and stopped so went back to sticks and other meter. Went to chemist and tried to buy new cartridge and was told it was $50 not the $15 i was told earlier. So meter has cost me a bundle 4 nothing. Not Happy, stay away unless you get stuff cheap. Not covered by the NDSS unless insulin dependent.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Love it love it love it
As a mum of a 2 yr old with diabetes, this is a god send. Doing a 2am check without any strips to worry about is fantastic! It doesn't need as much blood as the optium that we started with and sometimes has a few errors come up for no reason, but no more often than the optium exceed did (which we used for the first 12 months post diagnosis). It is as cheap as the strips to run, clean and fast to use. It also has blue tooth to track the results.
Our just turned two year old is just starting to learn how to test herself with it now too - so it is very simple!
Simple and clean to use - no blood products/ glucose strips all over the house anymore!
Lancets are expensive

Loved it for the first six months, but it turned dangerous
I loved the convenience of strip-free testing for my daughter. It ate batteries, and a night light would have been good for the test area, but I will forgive a lot to never find a stray strip on the floor again. After five or six months of use it started to give inaccurate results. I first became aware of this when my daughter approached me in tears saying she felt low but her monitor said 8.9. I tested her with her old monitor and she was 1.8. I reviewed our testing methods against the instructions and sought advice from Diabetes Qld, who told...Read more
me I was the third mum that month with the same problem. During the next week I tested her with both monitors, and found the Mobile was reading between 2 and 10 points higher for every reading. I contacted the company and they were very unhelpful, saying that it was "user error" - I fail to see how we could have used the monitor correctly for so many months then suddenly be unable to get it right. The monitor is now in a draw and I've moved on to a competitor's product. I just can't risk the implications of a low not being picked up, especially at school, no matter how convenient. convenient, easy to carry inaccurate and unreliable, uses AAA batteries quickly, no night light1 comment
We have the same problems. It shows higher numbers than the other two metters that we have. I could accept some differences but there is a lot of "room" between 26 (accu check mobile) and 14,3 (accu c... Read more
heck aviva). Not to mention that it is too "bloody" We will go back to our old metter, though I wonder if there is any glucose metter that their manufacturers could bet their life on.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Hi my Accu Check Mobile monitoring unit slide button to open the cassette compartment cover has jammed. The slide is #12 on page 7 of manual. It has been getting progressively harder to open over time. Any suggestions please?

Contact Roche they will usually repair/replace the unit (in UK) if faulty.
This is my experience only as a user but I cannot speak for the supplier/manufacturer

hello i would to know if you have any diaries at all? my name is Laura i have to write down what my sugar levels are

Hello Sam. I have been keeping a food diary for a couple of weeks or more now and do a tst before each meal and two hours after. It's been a real eye opener for me and helped me compile a list of what not to have's and what seem to consistently keep my readings lower. I also find the results can be reflective on the meal before the one you've just had also. Well worth doing, but we're all different, so need to do our own to see what does and doesn't suit us as individuals. Whole new way of living this is! I changed my accu check mobile for a new one as it seems the old one was faulty. The new one is working fine. Good luck, Lorraine

How do I get a accu-Chek mobile for free? I have been a type two diabetes n or insulted as well.

Hi Mary, I originally bought an Accu-Chek machine back in 2003 when I was diagnosed as I was advised to test even though only on tablets then. I registered my machine and Accu-Chek provided testing solution & batteries free when I asked. Since then they have regularly sent me new machines as and when. I would say even if you have to purchase one it is worth it as it is so easy to use and does away with fiddly strips. I also checked with my Practice Nurse before I started using it as to costs of supplies and it works out much the same. Good luck.
Hi. I am located in the UK and we are able to get free Accu-Check Mobile meters through the Accu-Check customer service contact number. I may be wrong but I cannot see a free meter for the same in Australia. It may be worthwhile though contacting customer service in Australia on 1800 251 816 and ask them. You may be lucky.
Best wishes. Martyn
