Works for my dog
I have had no probrems with Advantix YET. Remember in time fleas and ticks build up a resistance to a drug and then it doesn't work so well.

Waste of money and time
Our dog has had fleas this entire summer. Using this product changed nothing.. I have used this in the past, same dog with very good results. I should have saved my money and picked the fleas off one at a time. I am retired and this would have given me a job. No pay but the dog would have been happy, maybe. I did note the package stated made in China. Perhaps this tells us something.. This product should be taken off the market. It simply does not work. As to side effects, there were no effects period, nada, zero, etc.

Autoimmune disease
This product worked for fleas and tics, however my dog developed immune mediated thrombocytopenia and died. Please read the side effects before administering, I assumed it was safe.

Waste of money
Product is easy to administer, which was seriously the only good thing about it. It did not work. I bought a 3 month supply, for June July and August from the vet. Kept it stored at proper temp. And still have had to bring my dog back to the vet several times to have ticks removed that burrowed too deep for me to get. And my dogs skin is extremely dry from it as well.

Freaked My Dog Out
Immediately upon application to the shoulder area of my 7 month old, 65 pound Golden, she started running around the living room. She would rub up against furniture, lay down briefly, up and running around briefly visiting her favorite spots but was very agitated. This went on for a couple hours. Looked on line to see similar complaints/concerns. Called my vet, they don't carry this product but urged me to bathe her immediately with Dawn. If that didn't help, bring her in. Fortunately, an apply rinse apply rinse routine proved effective.
Worst $50 I've ever spent.

Very disappointing pet owner
I bought K9 advantix 2 for my shitzu only for her to continue to suffer with a flea problem. My dog Ginger is allergic to fleas, just one flee on her will make her itch herself to the scalp. I bought this product with the catchy label of "repeals and kills" only to find that was quite untrue. I have been putting this product on her every two weeks for the past 4 weeks with consistent baths, scratching never ending. I warn pet owners not to buy this product for the sanity of your pet. Last year I bought her a generic brand at Walmart. She was happy and flee free, not miserable like on advantix. Trust me on this, if you love your pet, don't waste your money.

Warning.
Be very careful using Advantix on your dogs. It includes an ingredient called permethrin that can give your dog an extremely severe reaction called Paresthesia. Unfortunately my 9 month Pomeranian had such a bad reaction and at one point I didn't think he would survive. 20 minutes after I applied the product he was extremely irritable, agitated and restless. He could not stop scratching and was crying constantly day and night for three days as if he was in so much pain. He had no appetite, was sleep deprived and exhibited an abnormal change in ...Read more
behaviour and character. He was a completely different dog. After 5 baths, two vet checks, injections, antihistamines and three restless nights the reaction is slowly beginning to subside. My experience with Advantix was a nightmare and I wish they had warned me of this side effect on the pamplet. I am not trying to put Advantix down but I just want to inform people about the possible reaction (Paresthesia) which may occur that Bayer fail to mention on the product. I would hate to see any dog go through what my poor baby had to go through the last few days. Thank god he is okay now. If you know your dog is sensitive and intolerant to permethrin maybe use Advocate instead which does not include the permethrin.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I Want A Full Redund!
Terrible product. Does not repel fleas at all. I can only imagine what it does to ticks. Will be taking further action to receive a full refund for a product that doesn't work.

Dangerous Lethal Product; Stay Away From it!
This product is poisonous. It contains a synthetic chemical (PERMETHRIN) 44% not to be confused with Pyrethrin (a natural substancel) originally used as a parasitic dip for horses. In the 1980's it was offered as an alternative to organophosphates as a rinse for fleas on dogs. My beautiful dog almost died after licking her coat after a rinse. It is used today in products for scabies; but only at 1% of the entire contents. Advantix has 44% Permethrin. It is toxic to cats whom can die after coming in contact with a dog who has been treated. don't have the necessary enzyme to metabolize like dogs do. Do your research on all products like this. Frontine Plus is a safer alternative if you must treat for ticks. Examine your dog every evening or wash daily with a flea shampoo that contains Pyrethrins. It's your choice.1 comment

Red raw skin and loss of hair
I used this on our 14 year old Jack Russell and the reaction was almost immediate. The skin at the application site became red and inflamed. His hair in the area fell out and he suffered from an involuntary movement of his head which went on for at least a week. After a few days we soaked him in an oatmeal bath and the inflammation lessened. I spend $80 on this treatment. It damaged my dog bringing him great discomfort and the other two tubes are unusable. Should be taken off the market.

seizures :(
It may be a coincidence but my healthy 2 year old dog had a seizure 3 days after i applied this product. After reading the reviews here there is a VERY strong link . I will never use this on her again, i only hope this stuff hasnt triggered life time health problems.
The warnings have to be made MORE BOLD on the packaging.

Don't use on small white dogs
My poor little Bischon has had a terrible 3 days since I applied the Advantix.. She was frantic running around hiding under pillows, scratching herself and panting terribly. We we're away on holiday otherwise I would have taken her to my Vet.. We covered her with cold cloths to help stop the heavy panting as she was so overheated.. We never slept for the 3 nites she was very agitated, shaking her head where we had applied the Advantix.
It is now the 4th day, she is still shaking her head but the extreme panting has stopped she has developed a small sore where she has been constantly scratching herself.
I rang the emergency help line and it was explained it would have been like sunburn and the bad reaction can last between 2-72 hours..

Caused permanent skin twitch
I used this product for several months on my tan and white beagle puppy. I did not make the connection, at first, that the Advantix was causing skin twitching on his back. By the third month, I could not pat him on the back without the twitch. When I described the problem to my vet, she confirmed that neurological issues were reported with Advantix, particularly in smaller, white dogs. My dog is now almost three years old. The skin twitch lessened immediately following cessation of Advantix, but continues to this day. Not recommended for smaller, white dogs.

Is it safe to use out of date advantix.
4 answers
Should be fine as long as its not too out of date (less than 12 mos out of date). The expiry usually has a bit of lee way
And it will be safe to use - the worry is wether it will still be effective. If the box was stored in a cool place thats even better but if in direct sunlight not as good and you may not want to push the expiry to much
Stephen This product isnt very safe to use while it is in date, I certainly would NOT use it out of date.
