2013 Expressi is great!
Although I prefer the flavour of the Nespresso coffee, the coffee that comes out of the Expressi machine is pretty darn good too, especially considering how much cheaper both the machine and pods are. The coffee comes out nice and hot and fills the kitchen with a wonderful aroma. I love that there is a hot chocolate pod available for this machine. My girlfriend doesn't think it's "chocolatey" enough, but I think it tastes perfect. The only thing I wish was better is the cleaning. It's not too much of a chore, but I'm lazy and wish there were fewer parts to clean.
Hot coffee, good flavour, very cheap machine and pods
I wish it was slightly faster to clean it.

Expressi 2013 Edition
I bought one of these the other day at Aldi and it's going back. The machine is working OK but the coffee is not hot enough. It only produces lukewarm coffee. Same with the milk frother which I bought the same day. Only lukewarm milk. Aldi have increased the price to $89 but nothing has changed with the machine other than it looks a bit sleeker. I've given it a really good work out and even bought several different kinds of pods. What's left of those are going back as well. Overall - quite disappointed with this machine.

Great value machine... Fantastic Coffee!
Easy to operate and easy to maintain, the Expressi coffee machine produces a fantastic coffee with a surprising crema. The only criticism I can level is that the coffee can be a little cool, but this can be corrected by filling the water tank with warm water and heating the cups. The machine is slim so is more space efficient on my already full bench. Also, there is a fantastic range of well priced pods available to this machine. One other tip, after using the hot chocolate pods I also rinse 2-3 times so as to guard against milk powder blocking...Read more
the machine. For low frequency (e.g. 1-2 persons, 1-2 times a day) domestic use, this machine is ideal! Easy to operate, easy maintenance, GREAT coffee, doesn't take up much space on bench top Slightly cool coffee... but I just warm the cups.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Love my Expressi
Ive had an Expressi for nearly 12 months and love it. No problems with it, easy to use, and is much better quality than I expected for the price. At times the pods drop straight through when you insert them, but thats the only irritation and by taking care to drop them in straight it corrects this. The frother works well though mine burns milk on one side and the impeller has recently started to stick at times .. With a 2 year warranty Im not worried .. it will go back to Aldi and I'll get a replacement.unit. Its easy to clean. Milk is very...Read more
hot; coffee likewise. Coffee flavours are good, and the price and range for pods very good. Inexpensive, easy to use, well made, reliable, quick to heat up for use. Returned to store
Brought one of these and was disappointed, none of the capsules that came with the machine produced an acceptable tasting coffee, returned to store. Please note, I am very fussy with my coffee, it must be just right. I can produce a perfect coffee with my Breville espresso machine and an acceptable coffee with a Nespresso capsule machine at work.
Price, cant beat that.
Very poor tasting coffee

Fantastic product!
We just love this machine. It was given to us as a gift and after some heistation, we tested it and found it to be as good as the Nespresso machine but so much cheaper. We haven't had any leakage problems discribed. It's so easy to clean. I've recently started to use the MAP pods and found them to be a nicer coffee for our taste, and the kids prefer the MAP hot chocolate as well!! We also have the milk frother, and it's fantastic for hot or cold milk. Although, some may find the milk a little to hot, but we actually preferr it hotter than warm.
great value, easy to restock the pods, a cinch to use and clean

cheap but it works - much nicer coffee than instant!
We've had our machine for about a year and was very happy with it but have recently upgraded to a Nespresso. We got addicted to the capsule method of coffee making but it took too much time to froth the milk in the separate frother (hence the upgrade). The flavour of the Aldi coffee choices was universally great also.
Perhaps we just like our coffee not steaming hot as we never had issues with the temperature of the coffee - it always seemed hot enough for us (I've read the other reviews complaining about it not being hot enough). It worked...Read more

Luv that machine!
Santa brought me one of the coffee machines & the frother too, for Christmas 2011 & I really must have been a very good girl last year. I use it every morning & evening at least & more often when I have visitors. My friends who spent a fortune buying big name machines are so jealous. My coffee is always awesome & don't have to go milk frothing school to learn how to prepare milk plus I can make my travel mug of latte to take in the car with me.
It's so easy to clean, fits neatly on the bench without taking up huge space. I'm saving heaps of money by not going to Macca's every morning to buy coffee on the way to work.

Very Good Altrnative
Visually a great looking machine and does eactly what it is intended to do. There is a difference between Coffee Pods and Ground Coffee, however this is just as good if not better than the more expensive brand - which in my opinion the price of the pods are excessive!

I bought this machine today as it is back on the shelf, the new 2013 edition, Aldi has fixed the issue with the pods falling through, but the only issue I have with this is the coffee is NOT hot at all, I have tried with Hot water in the tank, still no different. Heat your milk in cup in microwave for about 45-60 seconds. (If NOT using the milk frother) THEN use the machine . Perfect!!! I
If using the milk frother, heat cup with water in microwave prior to using machine and adding frothed milk.
I use a little stainless steel jug to collect the coffee and heat the cups as well. This does help but I think for really hot coffee (I prefer mine drinkable straight away) a burst in the microwave is probably the only way to go.
I use a small stainless steel jug to collect the coffee & pre heat my cups. This suits me fine but if you like it really hot try a few seconds in the microwave.

Great for price!
Such a simple and wonderful machine for its price - and makes good coffee too! It takes next to nothing for it to heat up and the coffee is certainly better than any instant and even comes close to being better than a Nespresso!! The pods are super cheap (less than 30c) a pod. My machine is the older version but I just tried the 2013 editiong which my mum bought and its the same quality coffee (if not better) as they have supposedly fixed the fault with the metal handle.
The cost! and reasonable quality of coffee
After a years use, the metal handle snapped (from the inside, which is connected to a lever with plastic), This just happed over time and from heat I gather. When returned to store - I got a complete new one!! (Yes, after 1 year!)

I purchased the new 2013 edition yesterday and it's excellent, I have not had any of the issues of previous reviews I have read, no water leakage or problems with the capsules dropping, the coffee is very hot and so is the milk from the frother. The silver (also available in black) Machine looks great on my kitchen bench, It's very streamlined so fits in well. re strength 9 (the strength goes upto 10) and I don't think I really like them, although they're still better then instant coffee as well as McDonalds! I have the Milano capsules here to try which are the strongest and labelled 10 so hopefully they will be perfect, If not there are plenty more to try and even tutorials on ebay on how to refill your own capsules with your own beans - Winning! The hot chocolate is really good with frothed milk and marshmellows but not too good if you make it large without a lot of milk, tastes kind of watery. This machine makes coffee FAST, really fast but it is a little bit noisy - I actually jumped when I first turned it on. All in all for $79 there is no way you can beat it! New chocolate and chai latte pods are wonderful
We've been so happy with our Aldi Expressi machine and now we are very very happy that they have decaf, hot chocolate and chai pods. All are really good - in fact the chai one is better than you get in most cafes. If you haven't purchased a machine you definitely should. I have owned a few machines in the past and this is just so simple and easy to use I would never go back to the more expensive versions.
The frother is also excellent. Very quiet and copes with all different types of milk eg soy
Taste, ease of use, very easy to clean

The great flavour range of capsules are a nice price and have a nice medium flavour. The machine is very easy to use and at $79.00 a very easy price.
The water well is easily accessed and the 2 year warranty makes it a great deal.

Great Quick Coffee fix when on the run.
We recently purchased this unit from Aldi and have to say that for making a quick cuppa in the morning, this wins hands down.
Warm up time is literally 15 seconds before you can hit the button to get hot cup of coffee. With the selection of varying strength of coffee flavour, there's bound to be flavour for everyone. We have even tried the hot choclate option for the kids as well for a while they had a Chai Latte pod as well.

p at a time so if you were making a few cups at the same time you would have fill up the fother several times as the capacity was quite small. One of the negatives has to be the fact that the unit will occasionally relieve itself on your kitchen bench. I don't know where it leaks from, just that every now and then it will leak. The speed of getting your cup of coffee. The various flavours of the different coffees. Sometimes the machine leaks and I dont know where from. It's not all the time, but it is very annoying and messy on the kitchen counter top.1 comment
The water usually leaks out from the bottom of the water container, have a look and press the water release. Generally this happens when your trying to place the full water container back onto the machine. NOthing to worry about.

I love this coffee machine
I have had my Expressi coffee machine for about 6 months, and it is still working as well as the first day I got it. It is so easy to use, and makes delicious 'real' coffee every time, it's easy to clean, and is not messy to use, and I like that it only takes a small amount of bench space. We are saving heaps of money no longer buying cafe coffee any more too.

Excellent Value. Hot Strong Coffee.
After five days of extensive testing, this is my review of the red Expressi machine. Main points follow.
1. The instructions are hard to read. But after three reads, they told me everything I needed to know.
2. Get a measuring cup and check the output volumes. My small cup button was delivering 70mls of water, not the 50mls stated in the manual. My brother's machine delivered 60mls instead of 50ml
3. When adjusting the cup levels (by keeping your finger on the button while the water pours), make sure you have a used pod in the machine....Read more
This function didn't seem to work well when I tried doing it without the pod. I found that the maximum sized volume I could set on the small cup button was 75ml, and 155ml on the large cup button. The manual says those maximums should be 100ml and 200ml respectively. 4. After calibrating the output volume to 50mls for the small and 100mls for the big cup, there really isn't any need to adjust the volumes and make them bigger for each cup size. After pushing the big cup button and a 100ml has come out, you can just push the small cup button to get another 50ml out, or push the big cup button to get another 100ml out and make a 200ml cup of coffee. The last 50mls of the 200ml throughput from the same pod is very weak coffee.7 comments

I still get good coffee, but still holding it to fill cup as much as i like. Then with the frother it makes the coffee just as good as the Cafe shops even better. No problem otherwise. Yes it comes out slowly, but think that is how its suppsed to be. Doesnt bother me, coffee taste makes up for it. Anyone else having to hold the button for the coffee to come out? Frustrated with second machine too!
Purchased this machine and managed to make two great cups of coffee but more often had problems with pod falling through, lever not staying down, weak coffee, lots of water oozing out. Thought must have been doing something wrong as instructions are mainly pictorial. After three days we took it back to Aldi and exchanged it for a new machine as we were sure it was faulty. New machine has same problems. Love it when it works but can't get it to work consistently. Frustrated! Thinking of getting a refund this time. Suggestions anyone?
Loved the coffee.
It doesn't work most of the time.

Live and breath aldi
I work at aldi and shop at aldi, out of all the coffee machines I've had returned it was generally because people where forcing down the handle and sometimes the pods get stuck or it's full. I havent had an issue with mine I love it, aldi has been talking about getting in tea and hot chocolate pods for all of those non coffee drinkers. Until then officeworks sells hot chocolate map pods that apparently fit in our coffee machines but they are a little bit more expensive. Aldi has a great refund policy and staff are always happy to help if you have any questions just pop into your local store and ask.

ought one. Well, where do I start? Very simple to use and clean, water boils very hot each time, nice and slim so it doesn't take alot of room on my bench. I found the pods are very easy to insert and out of one pod, Iam able to use twice. As for the flavour, well to be honest I have tried alot worse by going to a cafe. The Milano which is strength 10 is quite bitter and does have a slight burn't flavour. The Reggio, no 9, is more suttle, yet missing that real pure coffee flavour as for the rest I doubt they would be any good. So would I recommend this product? Yes!!! If I wanted a coffee machine that's easy to clean, use, and doesn't use up alot of room and looks quite stylish, in a cheaps way, price can't complain. I have a expresso machine also but the cleaning involved is annoying, it's heavy and larger, ok, sylish yes absolutely, but at times I guess I can settle for second best, especially in a hurry. Believe it or not since I wrote the reveiw the same has happened to me. I also get a bit of pressure built up which was a bit scary. I've since gone and purchased a new one. If the new one works for a year or two with out a hitch, I'm still ahead.
I rang the 1800 number and spoke with Kfee who make the Aldi Expressi Machine. The pods are new but look the same. According to Kfee, the coffee will be superior. However the new pods are much harder to penetrate and the old machine no longer functions as it did previously, the pressure keeps building and sometimes it just doesn't work. I have stopped using my old machine as the pressure felt as though it was about to explode. Basically you need a new machine and with the Aldi (Kfee) pods being cheaper than (all?) the others, it's still value providing the new machine is not made obsolescent as these old ones have been. Aldi could have told us this, but I have not seen any evidence that they have.
Thank you Ahmetmaz And Basilian for your answers.
I had a feeling that I would need a new machine. I had noticed that the pods had changed.

I have the machine which is smooth down the sides (the older machine), I've descaled and also done the other one they suggest, but the amount of water which pushes through the coffee button (both small and big) is less than 30ml. Sometimes the machine online spits out 5ml, how can I fix this? For me to make a coffee, I have to press the coffee button about 5 times.
2 answers
Hi, yeah thats normal, to make a full coffee you will need to press the button about 5 times to fill the cup, the idea behind this is that to make a proper cappuccino you would normally just press the button once or twice then full the rest of the cup with frothed milk. As i don't make it that way i just need to keep pressing the button until the cups full.
No, I mean I just to press it 4 or 5 times to get a decent amount of coffee. The booklet says you can should get 40ml from one push... not mine!
