Asko D5424WH (White) (page 2 of 2)
Buy a Bosch instead!!! We have purchased a couple of these machines for use in our offices and they have been nothing but trouble in the 6 months since purchasing them. They are unreliable and the wash quality is substandard, one has already been replaced. If you happen to purchase this machine for use in an office and it breaks down after 3 months do not expect help from the service department without having to pay a fortune for it even if it is throwing the F11 error, a known problem, and a plumber has been unable to identify an issue on 2 occasions.

Fantastic. Takes LARGE dinner plates and platters without hitting top spray arm. Excellent range of programmes with extra drying options if necessary. Dries perfectly...except for the thin plastic stuff but then no dishwasher does!!!!! Has cutlery basket - unlike the other new models that have a cutlery tray....that would drive me mad! Don't need to rinse dishes first. Has double filter which is easy to clean. Only need to clean filter every couple months. Quiet operation. This is my second Asko. Sold the last with my last house -still working beautifully after 15 years. Pay a little bit more. It's worth it. We have had this one a little over 2 years and it hasn't skipped a beat.

cleans well with quality dish tablets
a little quieter than our good old Bosch
Good finish and build quality, tray extends towards the door
So far so good but it is still fairly new to rate its reliability
The delivery was late so they offered to have it installed free of charge. Went better because installation was not as easy as I have imagined with the way our current kitchen is set up. Thank you

Thought I was doing the right thing by buying an Asko. Big mistake. I certainly wasn't impressed with its washing results, and five years on the machine blows up. Fault, major fault in its electronics. Not worth the money. Noisy to run, and expensive to repair. Do your self a favour and look at other brands!

Machine washes really well however there is a problem :
the display panel seems frozen. 2 of of the lights are on in the display panel. the time on the start button reads 2:18, we can't start the machine nor can we adjust any of the settings. the display panel is unresponsive to touch. we thought buying an Asko would be a good investment with reliability,

Great dishwasher, this is my second one as I left my first one in my rental property that I own (and know it's still working today) and had no hesitation to buy another. Used the first for 2 years, current one for 3 years.
Cleans very well even when very heavily stacked and I see no need to pay for a more expensive model.
The only drawbacks I have is that it is noisier than other dishwashers and doesn't dry very well, I'm sure these more expensive Asko's don't have these issues, but they aren't deal breakers for me, getting clean dishes i...
Read mores the priority. I have had issues with Finish tablets not dissolving recently, but I'm certain it's an issue with the tablet. I went back to Fairy tablets and it's been fine. Lastly, both of mine were made in Sweden. The current ones are made in Slovenia, I'm not certain they are of the same quality. The only reasons why production shifts to a lower wage country is to boost profit, noting that Asko have not reduced the RRP since production has moved from Sweden.Every load from the second I bought the machine left the dishes with so much grit that i had to hand wash each dish before I put it in the dishwasher. After 4 years I found a big piece of sticky tape in the pipe, that comes from the dishwasher and I thought my worries were over. However, since then, the dishes seem to wash better but I keep getting F11/F12 on the display and can't get it working despite it being assessed by the repair man who has informed me that he finds no faults with it. So far it has been 2 weeks since it finally stopped...
Read more for good. Often, undoing the pipe and shaking it helped get it going again for a couple more washes. Looking now for a good quality dishwasher to buy, would appreciate any recommendations. I have six children and need a dishwasher I can rely on. I must say however, that when I rang Asko, it was a couple of months out of warranty and they still honoured it.Hi Claire,

We spent quite a bit since the salesman told us how great Asko is, and I know Asko has a good reputation, however I regret getting this machine.
The touch buttons are an absolute pain and require repeated attempts to select. But most annoyingly it struggles to dissolve the dishwashing tablets (Finish Quantum). We have cleaned the filter and run the dishwasher cleaner and the problem still isn't solved. This has never been a problem with any of my previous dishwashers, even cheapies that cost half the price.
edit: It ended up having an ...

We bought our Asko dishwasher in August this year. After installation incl carpenter electrician and plumber we found it didn't work. So carpenter comes back to remove the kick boards, etc. to get it out. We had to drive to the next town (30 kms) to have it repaired as they don't do call outs. Then the fun began. The electrical repair shop was having difficulty with communications from Asko. They don't answer emails or return calls. When I called Asko after a lengthy wait, I was treated patronisingly. The lady called me Darl and blamed the repair shop for not contacting them!! I told her this was not true. It is now late October and I am still looking at a hole in my kitchen. Not happy!

Due to a leaking pipe from behind my older sink, my old F&P dishwasher became inoperable due to water getting into the electrics. So with much research and talking to apparently knowledgeable sales staff at numerous shops, we were convinced that the Asko was the best option for us.
As for the aesthetics and fit-ability into the existing hole, it was great and it was very easy to hook up to the existing pipes and tap in the kitchen.
However this is where the fondness of our new machine soon stopped.
Firstly the set up of the dish prongs make...
Purchased this model and am waiting for it to do a good wash. I am tired of checking every item I pull out of the dishwasher at the end of the cycle to check that it has cleaned properly. Am always throwing something back into the sink to hand wash. Have submitted a question via email and have not received a reply so I am posting my comments here. VERY DISAPPOINTING! Paid $1200. Not happy.

So we have an Asko dishwasher, roughly 3-4 years old and recently during a cycle, shorted the power out in our house. Upon investigation, we found smoke coming from the door of the Asko, Took the inner door off as we were afraid to leave it smoking to find that there was condensation or water leaking into the insides of the door and made the switch short itself out, creating a fire in the sound deadening material inside the door. Called out a technician to fix, replaced the switch, used again for about a week, same thing happened again, once ag...
Read moreain had to pull the door apart to stop the fire becoming any worse. Not game to even attempt fixing it this time. The sad thing is when we bought it, we thought it best to spend the extra on a 'good' brand, and we ended up with this happening. Noticed that asko representatives are on this website and on other reviews asking customers to email them with their issues (acting like they will help) so emailed them 3 weeks ago, no reply. Bad machine, Bad customer service.Hi Shane,

This replaced a cheaper brand that did not last long. I have had good experiences with 2 asko front loader washing machines and the service dept is lovely to speak to and helpful, so an asko dishwasher was really a no brainer.
cleans dishes well also my range hood filters come out pristine. The is filter relatively easy to clean. Nice and quiet while TV is on.

Just got rid of the Miele dishwasher as it was not cleaning or drying dishes properly. Even after getting it repaired twice.
Could not be happier with the asko.
Would highly recommend
We have only had this dishwasher for a short while and this will be our second call out. The first time the elderly chap came out, he sat reading the manual as he had NO idea what to do! Really....! Not what I expected, needless to say the problem still persists. The tablets weren't dissolving and our dishes weren't clean after a cycle. The technician said that we should use the powder instead because tablets are hard to dissolve. Huh, never had a problem with our old machine! And then he supposedly adjusted the water. Well surprise, surprise...
Read more, we switched to the powder and it still does not always dissolve . It's a hit and miss saga. Not good enough. Need to get the tech out again. We are so disappointed because we have other Asko appliances and enjoy them. Although our washing machine leaked initially until that was replaced, good service there I have to say. Fingers crossed.Hi Iris,

The dishwasher shows clever design. No nobs or buttons of the door to get in the way and easy to keep outside clean. Buttons are touch sensitive so no moving switches. There is a power switch neatly located on the top of the door under the sill.
The upper tray spray is rigidly attached to the back of the washer rather than being part of the upper basket. The tube is stainless steel. Baskets glide smoothly but firmly in and out - not wobbly, jerky or flimsy rails of some makes.
Have only used the factory presets and only one wash cycle. It...
Read more does the job. Drying is not as effective as the old washer but the Asko is more power efficient. Could probably extend the drying time but why waste the power. Seems robust. Is easy to use and washes well. The washing pellet door can get trapped by a cup or plate overhanging the recess in the basket where the door opens. The basket has a recessed bar to prevent this but a cup on the bar will protrude enough to prevent the door from fully opening and the pellet cannot drop out. This is an update after 6 years - One poor design feature with the Asko is that the detergent release door can be held closed by an item in the top try. This has occurred a few times when not careful with loading; once with a heavy wash resulting in the dishwasher being coated with fatty deposits washed off dishes by the hot water but not dissolved. I suspect these deposits gummed up the circulating pump and resulted in the motor being stalled on start up causing motor winding damage. The motor is now unreliable on start. The pump is clean and the starting capacitor is in good order.Purchased in September 2013 at The Good Guys.
This is the worst piece of rubbish that calls itself a dishwasher. It is 3 months old and we have had the service man out 4 times and they don't know what is wrong with it. Please please do yourself a favour and don't consider an Asko

I've had this machine for about a year now and I really couldn't be happier. We bought this to replace our old Dishlex when it died, and it was a toss up between the Asko and the similarly priced Miele. We went with the Asko over the Miele because we have an Asko front loader which is also excellent, and also the Asko has the stainless steel water pipe bit on the inside, whereas the Miele has the traditional rubber seals between the water pipe and the sprayer arm section, which can deteriorate over time resulting is a loss of water pressure. We...
Read more're very happy with our purchase; it's simple to use and clean, it's much quieter than our old machine, and it washes dishes perfectly. I've never had a problem with powder residue and my dishes come out sparkling every single time, even though we use the Eco-friendly tablets that don't have the power ball de-streaker bit inside. It is true that it doesn't dry plastic items well, but neither did our last machine. I've never really thought that was a big deal. It's probably not the quietest machine on the market either and I was worried about the noise before we purchased it, but I can say now that it's certainly not noisy. We have an open plan kitchen/dining/living area and if we're watching TV or have friends over for dinner we don't notice the noise at all. The loudest part of the cycle is when it's filling with water, or draining the water out. The actual running of the machine is very quiet. We had the Asko service guy come out to install for us, and he spent about an hour removing our old machine, and levelling and installing the Asko. He was very professional and spent a lot of time making sure the machine was centred and level, and he took away our old machine as well as all the packaging from the new one. I would, and have, recommended this machine to my friends and family. Washes dishes perfectly! Very easy to clean and operate. No cons to speak of.ieatwords.com.au has affiliate partnerships.
