Should have known better
Took out a policy last March, was very happy with service.
Unfortunately had an accident in September, everything was fixed and i was happy with the repairs.
Am up for renewal and just recieved a letter in the mail to tell me the underwritter would not be me offering me a renewal for the next year.
I've made 1 claim in over 15 years of driving and now i get the boot after i make a claim... Typical budget insurance company! Buyer BEWARE!

I have already been on the phone to customer service for over an hour and have just been told that there is nothing can be done. Its the decision of your underwriter.
Very disappointing!!

Excellent service
Since sending my last review I have spoken on the phone to a representative of Australia Post insurance (Grant Snowden) and he was most helpful. He sorted out my problem which was caused by a mistake that I had made. I was 100% the reason for the cause of the problem and Australia Post or the insurance company that they use were not the reason.
I hope that this review goes part way to an apology to them and, if I knew how to remove the earlier review, that would be the best thing.

Helpful and well priced.
Policy is good value and follow up claim to date has been fine. Quick and easy claim service and no affect on renewal policy. A lot of insurance companies are undrewritten by the same underwriters so just choose on like Australia Posts that provides good customer service.

Don't have Australian licence? You don't earned their insurance.
Just got a refuse from them because I have Estonian driver licence.
"Unfortunately due to our underwriting criteria we are unable to offer you insurance at the current time. If you'd like to know more about other insurance options, you can visit the Insurance Council of Australia's website at www.findaninsurer.com.au"
I have an insurance with NRMA for 3 years and have rating 1, no one had a problem with my driver licence before.

Absolutely terrible!!!
Do not buy this insurance, they will interrogate you and make you feel like you're a criminal when you make a claim!!! We have never had an at-fault incident in our life but some how Australia Post insurance decided to penalize us by increasing our insurance cost before they would honor the policy (only after we made a claim ofcourse they were happy to take our money beforehand mind you) because we had been "involved" in previous accidents which we were not at fault. What a joke!!!! We suggest you look up the definition of risk and clean up your misleading play on words advertising campaigns. Very dishonest way to treat customers. Lessons learned if it's too good to be true.... it's usually too good to be true!

Just make sure you don't have any modifications on your vehicle.
Called AP and went through the whole quotation only to be rejected because I had professionally fitted exhaust extractors on my 2.8 litre diesel Hilux. They recommended to consult findaninsurer.com.au website. I did and then called Budget Direct and had the exact same experience. Apparently they are both underwritten by Auto & General Insurance so I'd avoid them at all costs if you have any modifications to your vehicle.

Ex-employee of Australia Post and Being insured for 3 years, I've lodged my first claim due to car scratched so badly by vandals, I've taken the car to a repairer who is close to public transport and quoted me it will take max of 5 working days. repairer sent quote and it was approved by Auto and General assessors (they are the underwriters for Aus Post). Repair work got started, on 2nd day assessor went to workshop and asked the repairer to do a sham job, repairer called me and said he can't do any job like that and it went on like this with d...Read more

Terrible Insurance Co
We made a claim where were not a fault ... it was a hit run and reported to the police and he identity of the offending driver was identified. Throughout the whole process we were made to feel as though we had done something wrong and they kept putting up hurdles. In the end we our claim was honoured and 100% not at fault. Several months later wanted to cancel our claim as they wanted to charge 2000 dollars to have a learner listed as a driver, but was told because we had made a claim (not our fault ) we receive no refund of the balance. Never again. RACV insurance next time.

Good prices, watch for the inspection requirements
Did not surprise me that this is Budget Insurance. Had this argument with them when my other son bought a car and needed insurance. You get right through all the detailed information then they inform you that you a vehicle inspection. How are you meant to drive it there if it is uninsured? STUPID idea for an insurance company!

Couldn't Be Happier
Shopped around and changed to Australia Post about 6 months ago. Appeared to be best deal at lowest price. My son wrote off my car 3 weeks ago. Contacted Australia Post, gave them all the info. Assessor checked car within a week. All admin was completed over the phone. Full payout paid into bank account this week. Very helpful. Kept me informed. Made a worrisome time much easier. Definitely recommended.

Very poor
We had the misfortune to hit a cow and write off our car, we identified the owner who accepted liability, however we are expected to pay $1750 in excess and get that back at a later date from other insurance company and lose no claim bonus and have increased premiums for something that WAS NOT OUR FAULT. Very average and disgusted.

Take money out whenever they feel like it
I signed up after reading positive reviews here, but it didn't work out for me. I like how they offer fortnightly payments ( because I get paid fortnightly) but even though we agreed on dates money should come out, they took it out whenever and would overdraw my account. Not cheap either. Then I'd call them to Re arrange dates and again it happened. Then they wanted all these docs signed and returned by a certain date. Too much of a hassle for me, I work and have a young family, don't have time to worry car insurance every week, especially when...Read more
they call and SMS daily. Finally got out, while I was in hold I successfully signed up with Bingle - hassle free, not saying they're better, but much easier! Update: I wrote this over a month agbo, and Im STILL getting mail and sms's from them telling they are trying to take money out of my account and can't. I called them two weeks ago addressing this, they apologised and did it again. Do not give these people any private info!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Competitive and helpful
We have been with Australia Post Insurance for the past 3 years. Last year we moved houses and when telling Australia Post our new address they said our premiums would increase. I was surprised as we were in a very nice area however our postcode was shared with 3 neighboring suburbs. I decided to shop around and went back to Australia Post stating that I will leave. Within 5 minutes they offered the same insurance premium as my previous address, resulting in a $130 saving. Our insurance was up for renewal last week (2nd Jan) and I had shopped a...Read more
round given so many companies and comparison sites are marketing their services I compared 5 companies and not one of them was close to Australia Post so we have renewed. In 2013 our car was involved in an accident (we were not a fault). We called Australia Post and explained the situation and they were so helpful in liaising with the other party's insurance company and our car was repaired at a local panel beater within 10 days. Horrible slow service - Stay away
Horrible slow service that offer little or no assistance and wont pay out. better off with vero, fast caring service that pay attention to detail and don't make you feel like a criminal. Everythime you call (for the past two months the case manager is away and will contact you in 10 Ten days..) The service is cheap but you don't get anything - the insurance is underwritten by great lakes to contact their depute resolution service number is - 02 9272 2157.

Good value
Best quote in regard to annual/monthly payments with similar excess to others. Found they offered a better market value for my Holden SSV and also free hire car if it was stolen. Great customer service so far, although the 'proof of the pudding' will be if we ever have to claim (hopefully not!).
Pretty much straight through to talk with someone and competitive price
Little bit worried that some of them were answering 'welcome to Budget' until I pointed out I had dialed Australia Post - they are 'underwritten' by the same insurer - Hmmmm...

Interesting - shall give it a go - especially as I am likely to get the same dragging of heels when claiming then!
We've got the car insured so no-one under 40 can drive it anyway (gives away our age a bit, doesn't it?!) Our other car is with another insurer that allows learner drivers.

if you have a good claim record and over 50 this is totally the best.
Almost half the price to what i was paying with another insurer, both me and my husband are insured with Aust Post, we are both over 50 and have a good driving claim record. I obtained a quote online and called them also, they were extremely helpful. I highly recommend them

Big time ripoff
I am over 40 and have 60% discount. I have 2007 Toyota Aurion, No young drivers, my wife second driver over 30, car always garaged, no modifications has been done to the car, standard accessories, no bad history, for comprehensive insurance they quoted me a staggering $1850 all other all other companies quoted between $800 to $1100.
if you're a millionaire then go with them

So far so good!
Just rang the 1800 number on the site because I was unable to select my car's model, got a human being within 5 seconds - no 'please select from one of the following options' stuff - and ended up signing up with the lovely customer service rep over the phone.
She was very pleasant and patient (first time car owner/driver, rating 6) with me. The initial *annual* quote for me (09 Hyundai i30 turbo diesel auto) was $1548, but after asking reasonably if it could be any lower because it's the same price as RACV's quote, it got dropped to $1366. ...Read more
The rep arranged with me for my credit card to be charged on Thursday (as of writing, it's Saturday) as I'm paying annually and therefore needed time to clear my CC out. The cooling off period is the standard 21 days, with a full refund provided no claims have been made. That said - do note that when next year rolls around, if you do not respond to their notice that your policy is going to expire, then the policy *will* automatically renew. Aust Post Car Insurance is underwritten by A & G Insurance Services, who apparently also underwrite Budget Direct, so it might get interesting if I need to make a claim. Friendly, reasonable pricing Nothing - yet :)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
