I am still looking for work (have been actively job searching for two weeks now) I have just got my own practice together and hope to start working privately with the next week or two.

I really enjoyed it, and they showed me lots of support.

hope this helps.

Hey, I'm a high school student dreaming to be a counsellor. I'm in year 10 but I'm curious about this institution. Could you tell me what it's like studying here? How is the course material? Is it better if I do a course in psychology at another university or should I study counselling here?

Hi,
I notice I cannot attend a Graduate Diploma of Counselling until I have completed a Diploma, however I have noticed that the Graduate Diploma covers units on Family Domestic Violence. I have been a Support Worker for 3.5 years promoted to Program Manager for the Family Violence Services at a women's refuge. I mange the Safe at Home Program, the Coordinated Services which Triage's Incident Reports, with WAPOL and DOCS-CPFS, and I manage the women's refuge supporting 4 families at a time. Am I able to use this prior learning to complete the Graduate Diploma or I still need to sit the Diploma first?

Hello AIPC Diploma graduates.

I have been looking at the AIPC Counselling course for a while and am happy to see so many good reviews. I have a very specific type of counselling service in mind that I would like to specialise in and launch my own business/practice from. I have a business background and would like to amalgamate my previous career experience with a counselling diploma.

I am interested to ask, for those of you who have graduated, have you been able to find work from a Diploma level course? If so, what are you doing?

What were the positives and negatives you wish you'd known before doing the course?

I would be eternally grateful for any honest feedback, particularly with regard to career/work opportunities or barriers after completing the course.

Many thanks!

Hi Pauline.
I personally am looking at Volunteering with my local Community Centre to gain further experience, however I am looking at Youth Services now, and the diploma will definitely be a bonus, as well as my life experience, as I am 43 age. Good luck with it all.

Thanks Steph. I don't imagine there's much work with no experience, so volunteering is a great idea. I'm hoping to use my previous experience as the leading foot in the door, so hopefully the qualification will be enough. Very much appreciate you taking the time to give me an answer.

I am wondering the same Pauline. I would love to get a Diploma out of the way quickly, but how much more do your chances of employment increase if you do The Bachelors degree in Counselling?

Hello, I'm very interested in studying the Diploma, however I am based in the ACT. Does this mean I would have to travel frequently to Sydney for the practicals? Or can I literally do everything I need to do online to complete the studies? Ie. Skype, live stream classes, upload videos etc. I have a young family and no extra support, so online works best for me. I do have contacts to assist for work placement. Thank you, E.

Hello Erin, apologies for missing your question. We have a variety of options available for students to complete their practicals including attending seminars or small group assessments, uploading a video recording through our online learning system (My.AIPC), or linking up with an assessor over Skype. Please feel free to call the Sydney Student Support Centre if you would like further information (1800 677 697). Best wishes.

Looking at the requirements to register at ACA and PACFA bit also when reading requirements for Counselling jobs, it mentions having extensive hours of client based hours. It seems your courses has practicals but does that count for clonical hours ? Donyour students do placements in the workplace and how many hours would that be ? Thanks
