Durable headphones
A durable set of headphones that can take quite a beating. Synthetic leather peels off after heavy usage but it's alright considering how much it costs. These headphones are good for the average user. Works out great for me, would recommend as a starter headphone for those on a budget.

Excellent reference quality headphones
I’ve used these headphones for over 4 years and they’ve been excellent for cinematic content, making movies feel much more personal, videogames feel much more visceral and music sound absolutely jaw droppingly good. A good headphone amplifier goes a long way in getting the most out of these babies so it’s well worth your money to invest in one to pair. But as far as headphones go, the soundstage is wide, the middle and bass are impactful yet balanced and detailed and the highs are crisp. The headband is exquisite quality and hasn’t gotten so much as a scratch from 4 years plus of daily use. Definitely recommended to buy.

Fantastic
Beyerdynamic has made it again. This headphone is so good i could imagine myself being immersed in a concert hall. Every note came out crisp and clear, and makes me want to listen my favourite pieces all over again and again. I really recommend this great headphone to any music lover.

Without fanfare this pair delivers!!!
Lets me just start this review by saying, yes of course, there are more expensive and more highly fancied, highly talked about and highly advertised headphones that promise the sonic heaven any self deluded audiophile aspires to (I am one of them of course) but the truth is hidden by the hype and bared in the listening.
Yes I have auditioned many (actually 4) of these nearly and over $1000.00 jobs. And yes there is that perceived bias that surely this sounds so good and must be good and why shouldn't it as it costs so much, but there's the r...Read more
ub. After all that and with enough listening, the bias soon becomes the realization that hey, they're just very expensive headphones and on a reality test, my other headphones don't really sound that bad after all and in fact sound just as good as these so called top of the range headphones. Granted there's more bling and finesse in these gold rolled models but is it worth it? You have to make that decision as it is your money. In the meantime, there's the Beyerdynamic DT880 PRO and it is very good. Mostly in the $300 mark is very fair. It is all in the moment and fleeting because as soon as the music starts and it begins to take over, the DT880 is hardly there on your head but the music is. Music with a seamless, realistic, and natural presentation. As natural as what a natural presentation could be. Meaning there is a Beyerdynamic sound signature whatever that means. Very enjoyable and not tiresome as the others could get. If the music that was recorded was bass heavy, then you get the bass, no more no less. Unless you want more bass artificially, then go for the fashion headphones a lot of runners wear. I wonder how these people perceive music to be so bloated at the bottom. Subjective it is for sure. It is the same as listening to sub-woofers. I never thought true music was listening with subs because yes, bass is at the low end but below 100hz, it is an earthquake rumble not music. Even kick drums don't go much lower with thud unless it has been tuned badly it waffles like the man from British paints (Rolf Harris) with his waffleboard. The bass has weight if that was an issue and still tuned, not boomed at the very low ends. It anchors all that the DT 880 do so well specially the treble and mids. Without going into esoterics, and par for the course, you need to have a headphone amp and it goes without saying as these wonders from Germany are 250 Ohms. Will still work without and straight into a player but it is slightly compromised and not as authoritative. Vocals sound so good, it is so refreshing to hear nuances and get the lyrics right as well as the wet lips over the reeds of a saxophone, one can almost see the spit coming out of it. Of course that was a slight exaggeration but you get the drift. Because the DT880 has a slight bump in the mid hi frequencies, percussion instruments have a bit more bite which is good. Now for the sizzle in the high end, it has plenty of that required for the decay of any lingering cymbal ride or crashes and hall reverb applied to the recording without the sibilance that that bump naturally would bring which is a wonder as other headphones do when there is detail at the expense of seamless enjoyment. One thing to remember is although it claims to be semi-closed, it might as well be a fully open back headphone as there really is no isolation. They will hear your music no matter how bad it is and you will hear them too and their chatter. So this pair will not go well on planes or trains unless you cover your head with a towel pretending to be asleep.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

About as good as headphones get!
What can I say other than fantastic, first look is to notice the build quality, a very well made German product, putting them on is sheer comfort, and playing music through them is like opening up a Pandora's box of incredible quality clear sound. I don't think any other high end headphones I have tried are as good. Crisp highs, full low frequencies without the boom and well balanced mids. The semi open design means you can still hear what is happening in the room around you.
Because of the high input impedance most portable audio devices do not have sufficent level output for them.
