Timasked
what is better - arizona or arizona sol - and why?
1 answer
Vitality L.BioChef
Hi Tim, the main difference of these 2 models is the drying time, the Arizona Sol has 19.5 420-500w (lower energy consumption) and removable door, and the Arizona 24hrs 800w. So I guess the Arizona Sol would be the way to go. :) Anymore questions please ask. Regards Bec V4L
Peterasked
Hi we have an 8 tray biochef hydrator for a few years now.
Often when first turned on it gives an E1 error code and stops after a few minutes. We have to turn it off and on again a few times until it keeps going. Cannot find in the manual or online what this means.

Vitality L.BioChef
Hi Peter, it may have something to do with the door magnet. Sometimes if it is off centre/loose it can read this error. You may have to send it in for a service. If you would like to please contact us at [email protected]

Hi. Have just unboxed the Arizona Sol 6 Dehydrater and see that the manual mentions a Fast and Regular time for drying. Can't see any option on the buttons to select either of these. Please advise... :)

Elspeth D.asked
Can nuts be dried successfully as I see no mention of nuts anywhere and that’s what I specifically want it for?
1 answer
Vitality L.BioChef
Hi Elspeth, thanks for your inquiry. Yes you certainly can dehydrate nuts. We have a small manual which has some drying tips in the back but the best thing is to google and see what other people advise. You can get all kinds of expertise. But you can definitely dehydrate almost anything and Nuts are great. You can soak them first I believe and dry between 12 to 24 hours. Any more question please ask. Warm Regards Vitality4life.

Prue B.asked
I have just purchased a 5 tray BioChef dehydrater, and was wondering if it is possible to adjust the timer more specifically than in 30min increments?
Thanks
3 answers
Vitality L.BioChef
Hi Prue B, The 6 Tray is set to 30 minute periods as the minimum drying period for any produce is normally 4 hours ++ so it wold be a lot of clicking to adjust in 5 minute increments ..if you understand what I mean. Also, the time of dehydrating will also vary due to ambient temperature, the thickness of the slices and how close they are laid out on the trays together. So I think you will find that it's a bit of an experiment in the beginning but dehydrating is very fun ...and very satisfying when you see you are throwing very little out:) Please let me know if you have any other questions. Kindest | Vitality 4 Life
Ok thanks! I queried it as it says to run the unit for 45 mins initially to get rid of any moisture, and I needed to stop it manually. No issues with doing that, I just wanted to be sure I hadn’t missed something :)
Vitality L.BioChef
Hi Prue, no you haven't missed a thing. Will get that updated so its clearer. Anymore questions please do not hesitate to ask. Warmest Regards Vitality4life team.

Sandraasked
Why is the 8 and 10 tray dehydrators 800 watts, and the 9 tray dehydrator 600 watts? Which is a more economical use of electricity?
1 answer
Vitality L.BioChef
Hello Sandra, sorry for the delay. An 800 watt dehydrator costs about 85 cents to run over an 8 hour period. You really only need a minimum of 500 watts to dehydrate, so obviously the higher the wattage the faster the drying but also the running cost would differ also. Here is a link on our website, its really informative. If there is anything else please let me know. https://www.vitality4life.com.au/blog/product-reviews/food-dehydrator-reviews/10-reasons-to-buy-a-food-dehydrator/ Warmest Regards Vitality4Life.

Hi, I just received my BioChef Arizona 9 Tray Food Dehydrator and read the manual and saw that beef jerky is cooked for 2 hours fast time.. my concern was most forums note jerky needs to be cooked for 10 -20 hours. Is this 2 hours fast time correct? and if so how do I select fast time? Thank in advance. Once I use this I will do a review of this product.
1 answer
Vitality L.BioChef
Hi Rachel,
Jerky is definitely only safe to dry between 62-65 degrees for 7-8 hours or longer if necessary. If you would like to contact us on [email protected] I can send you an updated manual. Warmest Regards V4L
Greg W.asked
Hi. Just purchased the Arizona sol 6 tray and so far the first batch of goodies has turned out great! But, in the manual next to each food type it has a column for fast time, and regular time. What is fast time? Is that a special button somewhere? Can't find any reference to it. Thanks

Vitality L.BioChef
Hi Greg, yes we are aware of this discrepancy, if you would like to contact us at [email protected] we can send you an updated manual. Sorry for the inconvenience. Warmest Regards V4L
Selina Colemanasked
Hi I just bought my Arizona SOL dehydrator today. When I read the manual, it said I cant use extension cord for this product. However the only possible place must use an extension cord, is there any reason why extension cord cant be used? Selina
3 answers
Vitality L.BioChef
Hi Selina, thanks for your question. You will find that most instruction manuals for appliances will come with a caution to say not to use an extension cord. This is a manufacturer safety precaution which we pass on to our customers. A dehydrator is very low in wattage and power consumption which should not cause any strain on a safe extension cord. Kindest, Vitality 4 Life
Thank you for your prompt reply. It will give me a peace of mind. Although I haven't started using the dehydrator yet, the response from customer service is definitely quite efficient. :)

Thank you Selina have a great week :)

HI I have just purchased your Arizona 6. Could you tell me what the drip tray looks like please. I have a thin plastic insert, is that the drop tray?

Vitality L.BioChef
Hi there, yes the drip tray is the plastic insert. This can also be used as another non-stick tray to make fruit roll up too. I hope you are enjoying dehydrating. Kindest, Michelle | Vitality 4 Life

George Wasked
How much power do they use at say 24c per kwh.
1 answer
Vitality L.BioChef
Hi George, great question. I have copied some information for you about the running costs of our dehydrators. If you would like to ask anymore questions you can contact us directly at [email protected]
You will be glad to know that it is surprisingly efficient to run a dehydrator.
To calculate the cost of running your dehydrator you can use the following calculation ;
Step 1 : ( Wattage x Hours of average use for 1 drying session ) / 1000 = Kilowatts Per Hour
Step 2 : Kilowatts Per Hour x Your own Kilowatt charge with your Energy company.
As an example below we have calculated using average Australian Kilowatt charge and an 8 hour drying session as examples.
BioChef 6 Tray Arizona
Wattage = 420w x 8 hours) / 1000 = 3.36 kWh
3.36 kWh x 0.25 cents per Kilowatt = Total Cost 84 Cents for 8 Hours of Drying.
As you can see, the BioChef Arizona Dehydrator is a very cost effective way to dehydrate food items over a long period of time.
If you have any further questions about the BioChef Arizona Dehydrator range or I can assist further please let me know.

Poppy H.asked
As with the previous enquiry, there is no mention of how to use the mesh mat and non-stick parchment in the manual. For those like me who are completely new to the world of dehydrating some instructions would be much appreciated. Thank you.
1 answer
Vitality L.BioChef
Dear Poppy thanks for your feed back, and good point, we will try and add some info on using the dehydrator sheets on our website or manuals. The mesh sheets are perfect for drying items like nuts and seeds or chunkier and dryer items that need a more circular air flow that wont fall through the holes. The non-stick sheets are perfect for making flat breads and fruit leathers, items that have a high moisture content which might seep through the holes. If there are any more questions please do not hesitate to contact us here anytime at head office on 1800 802 924 All the best the Vitality4life team.
