Bosch axt Rapid 2200 Great for an Electric Shredder
I have had this shredder for around 3 years and it has performed like a champion for an electric shredder.
It is actually very fast and consistent in mulching leaves and branches as long as they are below 40mm in diameter.
I have also had a 4hp cox petrol chipper/shredder and prefer to use the bosch electric for its convenience and ease of portability.
The only thing you need to keep an eye on is the sharpness of the blade and sometimes there might be a build up clumpy mulch inside the chute if you have put some wet stuff in there. But any shredder would suffer from that..
If it broke down tomorrow i would definitely buy another Bosch the same
Hope this helps.

Don't Waste Your Money
I have had this unit for about 2 years. Worked brilliantly the first time I used it but after that the machine clogs regularly particularly with green material. It also shreds timber into very long pieces up to 30 cms long.
Worst of all, I was shredding a 15mm piece of branch and the disc holding the blades snapped in half.
I have bought a number of Bosch tools over the years and they have worked really well so I thought that this unit would be the same but it is a piece of crap.

Excellent machine well worth the money
This machine is brilliant. Should have bought one many years ago. It cuts effortlessly and the chips are very fine that makes excellent compost and potting mix. Its built tough and is very quite but one still use ear muffs and safety glasses as good practice. Love it and it really churns through those branches. My wife loves it and no longer needs to measure 1.2 m lenths of branches and then tie a bundle so that council green waste collectors will only pick up. If they werent tied in a bunch they would leave them on nature stip.

Worked for approximately 1month. Then stopped. Returned and 4 parts replaced which took 3 months. Turned it on, wouldn't mulch, jammed even with thin pieces 12-14 inches long. Customer service has been extremely unsatisfactory with one very rude customer service operator. Used 1 month and in for repairs for almost 13 months. Promised a refund by Bosch but when?
Bunnings' staff could teach them a few things about customer service!

Terrible - had to get a refund (great customer service from Bunnings, though)
I know this has apparently been working really well for a lot of people out there, but I found it awful. I have a lot of Tiger Grass (a bamboo-like ornamental grass with very thin, soft culms), and I needed to shred those. Because the design doesn't draw the material in, I kept ending up with the last bits of the stems sticking out, and the feeder thing is so thin that I couldn't get it to actually push those bits through. Then, the stems, instead of being shredded, were repeatedly turned into strings. These then wrapped around the shredding bl...Read more
ade, causing the machine to stall, and the outlet to block up. I'm not exaggerating here: I had to keep opening the machine to unblock it every two to three minutes of use. I fairly quickly realised the Tiger Grass was a lost cause, so I moved onto some small branches. Just as bad. Instead of shredding them into nice chunks, they just kept falling through, over and over again, without being shredded. I took it back to Bunnings the next day, and the guy there immediately knew what the problem was. He said that the design was bad, and he immediately offered me a full refund. He explained that with this design, the branches pass over the face of the blade, which is set vertically. He then recommended a cheaper Ryobi model, which has a horizontal blade that you feed the branches directly into, and which draws the plant material down automatically. I think I'm going to go with that.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

This one is going back to the shop
I bought this shredder thinking Bosch is a great brand must be good. How disappointed I am. The machine will not even chop 2 cm branches let alone 40 mm. It also has problems fresh branches. Just strips the bark.
I have used the machine for 1/2 hour and The cutting blades are already showing signs of wear.
I wonder what the other reviewers used but it must have been a different machine. No Mr Bosch I will be more careful when I buy another Bosch product.

worth the extra $$
Bought this model having just moved into a larger property with lots of gardens. Effortlessly carved up roses, citrus and natives. A bit of common sense when putting larger stems means you don't have to stop to unblock. Shredded to a fine consistency so straight into the aerobin for compost. Much quieter than I imagined. The feeder is easy and the top flaps stop anything spitting back up. Really impressed and glad I spend a little bit extra on this model. Easy to set up.. took less than 5 minutes.
quiet and fine grade compostable material at the end.
for the price a catch bag wouldn't hurt

Solid build, works well even with lots of leaves, happy to take a thrashing
Bought from Bunnings after reading reviews (including Choice magazine) and watching YouTube video. Yep - if you can fit the branches down the throat it will chip them. Twice the price of competitors but happy with up to 40mm branches green or dry. If you put in larger branches with 2 or 3 large branches at a fork can struggle - common sense is just cut one or more off. Occasionally outlet clogs if too much thick leaf matter put through but easy to unscrew and remove front to clear. Not heavy to carry or to roll around at all. Whilst it cost t...Read more
wice that of a cheap competitor at $399 I am confident it will do the job and last for years. Would be nice to get a shreddings bag with it rather than buy as accessory. I am convinced the rotating blade is better than a roller cutter in other devices and will be easier to replace in future when required. We'll built, cuts thick branches and leaf matter, rarely clogs, not heavy to lug around. Pricey and would have liked a shreddings bag in the box considering price.Similar opinion? managed to use this once to remove the offcuts from a major hedge trim
it works well but you quickly become aware of the maximum diameter of twig or branch that you can put into it as it struggles beyond a certain thickness.
some advice:
It has a safety guard which you use to drive the twigs into the machine. Use it always as your bare hands are too delicate to push branches in on their own (I learned the hard way)
it works
I ended up disposing of most or all of the large branches and twigs as they are too big to go into the machine. IMo it defeats the purpose of the exercise - I should just have paid someone to remove it all and saved me the work.

I have thrown this away after several years of non-use. It is not a productive use of my time or electricity. Doesnt chop well, better to use a sturdy branch lopper and the council waste bins .

My AXT Rapid Multcher will start but stops working in a few seconds?.... every thing is clean and tight with no vibration..... it was working fine then stopped? Any help?

Haven't had your particular probelm. Up until a few weeks ago mine was running OK. However, one day I switched it off to get some more cuttings and it wouldn't switch back on again. Hasn't worked since. I think the on/off switch is the problem. Undecided whether to get it repaired as it only does half the job I need (ie chokes up on ginger and banana plant cuttings).

Is there a service facility available for Bosch Shredders?

There are a number of licensed Bosch Service dealers listed on their website here: http://www.bosch-pt.com.au/au/en/professional/service/after-sales-service/authorised-bosch-service-dealers/authorised-bosch-service-dealers.html
They also have a Bosch service centre in Clayton Victoria.
I have had the same issue. There is a magnet inside the motor which comes loose and needs to be glued back on. I found a Utube video by a russian guy that shows how to fix it.
Many thanks, have you got a link to the video or what to search for so I can find it. I will look for the loose magnet, but expert advice is always good.
