This is because the system is not detecting sufficient flow of water. Turn the tap to max - if this does not work, then turn the tap off, wait 1 minute and turn it on to max as fast as you can... wait 60 seconds - watch as the system which claims to have a good energy rating wastes water.... if this does not work then turn all off again...

wait a minute - then turn on tap to max very quick - then go to another hot water tap and turn that one on as well to max.... - if this does not get you hot water then your water pressure is either not enough or your system is stuffed.

Do not try to turn the cold on at the same time until you have the hot working - and even when the hot works - be careful turning on the cold depending on your tap or shower attachments as this may slow the flow of hot enough to make the system shut down the burners again.

Sit back and watch your water bill and gas bill go through the roof even though these systems claim to be energy efficient.... obviously only under lab conditions with the perfect pressure.

Your other option is to take the cover off.

There are two user adjustable settings (at least on my 16H) - one shows 1 to 3 flame symbols - this is for adjusting the temperature from low to high flame... this can be increased for hotter water - but this is not your issue - you are not getting enough gas to light the main jets, only the pilot light...

the second adjustment is a knob below the slider - this adjust the flow of gas in general - turn this to max - get some one inside to turn on hot water to full - watch and see if it now lights.

if this worked you may then need to turn it back a little and or adjust the slider so that your hot water when it actually works is not dangerously hot.

You don't. When you turn the water on it spins a small generator that ignites the gas. These font have a pilot light.

Sorry but the unit is rubbish, I have had three plumbers in to try and get hot water but all say there is nothing they can do. They have contacted the Bosch technical team and spoken to them while they were here and the answer by the technical side was there was nothing more that could be done. The unit is useless.

We cannot turn the temperature up more than maximum on the unit, I have a shower on full heat! We have to turn the tap on a number of times to get the heater to work. I will never buy another Bosch product.

Bosch Hot Water & Heating
Robert B.Bosch Hot Water & Heating

Hi Richie, thanks for your question. Please be informed that a few alterations can be made to increase the hot water temperature.

Inside the unit there are 2 temperature adjustments that can be made: a slide control that controls the gas burner and a round dial on the water valve. Slide the control to the right to increase the burner and temperature, you can also turn the round dial clockwise to increase the temperature.

If these are already set to the maximum settings, then a service is required. Services are recommended every 2 years. If you need assistance with getting in touch with an approved service agent, please call us at 1300 30 70 37 any time between 7:30AM and 6PM (AEST) on a weekday.

Hi we have the hot water system listed in other question. Problem is: all burners are lit and stay lit but water doesn't get hot, only lukewarm. It is fed from gas bottles. System is around 4 years old. Have checked and there doesn't seem to be any blockages.

Not familiar with the model. The H for Hydroflo in the model name usually means it has a Water Wheel igniter (no pilot light). I'd be calling who ever installed it to check out the electrics and the gas flow.

How do you light the pilot light

1 answer
Bosch Hot Water & Heating
Robert B.Bosch Hot Water & Heating

Hi Ann, as it a HydroPower unit and therefore an electronic ignition system, there is no pilot light. We recommend ensuring that all your hot water taps are off before turning one tap back on at full flow. If this does not trigger your ignition, please isolate the valves at the unit for twenty seconds before re-opening them and trying the steps above again. If this does not work, please get in touch with us at 1300 30 70 37 from 8am to 6pm (AEDT).

Probably a dirty pilot jet.

Remove the little aluminum pipe to pilot piezo.

Its got brass 10mm nuts. Be careful the jet does not get lost it is at the top of pipe.
Remove the jet (its as big as a babies fingernail) blow through it and wipe it in your shirt. Its the tiniest little hole and gets wax from dirty gas stuck in it.
Put it back in and refit pipe. Try that.

Thanks for the thought Bog Balls. The pilot flame seems to be OK.. the main burner lights up ok... but then dies out after heating for around 20 seconds.

Hi John. Typical fault. Water driven ignition module has failed you. Part and gasget is too expensive to replace and will only fail again and again. You have joined the club of Bosch junkers. Spend your momey on a Rinnai infinity. Get the B26. Same heating specs as 26 just a few hundred cheaper and no led status light. Warranty a bit shorter as designed for builders who supply warranty on new home. Family will thank you. You have to learn to let go as you can't polish a turd. Learn by my mistake.

Having problems lately with our 13H where everytime the hot water is turned on (low demand ... happens on just a single kitchen tap) the gas is not igniting even though the pilot light is on. we have to constantly remove the service panel and blow on the pilot light to force it to go further into the chamber to light the gas! any suggestions on what is the problem?

Same problem I had the water that releases the pressure on the diaphragm for the main burner is not getting through.
Follow the copper pipe that comes out of the hydro generator it comes back to the front of the appliance and goes into the housing mine is gray and has the knob that adjusts the flow. There is a metal u clip on top of where the pipe enters the housing pull it out the pipe will pull out and can be moved to the side.
Look into the housing and you will see a round brass pipe there will be an opening beside this pipe with needle nose plyers pull the brass pipe out it will be stiff/tight but is only held in with orings it has a small jet on the opposite end this will be blocked clean and reassemble main burner should work

HydroPower 13H

I am getting hot water in the kitchen, shower and bath but when I turn the hot water tap on over the hand basin it runs warm to hot for a short time and then runs cold. When I go out to the hot water service 13H I can hear a clicking noise which I assume is the unit trying to start up but it seems that there is not enough water pressure to cause it to light. However, like I said it's working when the hot water taps are turned on over the kitchen sink, shower and bath. Any suggestions?

Check if you have a flow restrict or in the basin spout or if it has flexible hoses connecting it may have a restrictor in the hoses pull the plastic restrictors out and throw at the cat.
Good luck Baxy

Have a Bosch 13h, burner lights and stays alight, water flows with good pressure but NO hot water comes out. The coil doesnt even warm up???? 21/2 years old, LPG on an overhead tank. Whats the fix if any?

Esmond Lucas

Hi Bill & Cath,
Seems like these Hydropower units are a cause of concern for us the end users. I have a 16H which also has problems providing Instant hot water when demanded at taps being used, but cold water comes through and my Brother in law who visited me this weekend got caught in the shower with hot water at the start after 6 litres went down the drain. He got out trembling as the temperature was around 7 degrees in the house at that time of the morning.
He had to reopen the tap again and watch and wait for the hot water to arrive in the shower from my unit which is just approximately 10 feet away.
Unsure why your unit has this issue, as when the main burner is full flame water should move through the pipes. As you say the heat exchanger coil does'nt even heat up would elude to the fact that there may be a block in that area.Possible service check which may be costly or revert to a system that has the old type pilot light which we never had problems with.
The modern way thinking to save costs on gas but wasting valuable water is something I do not comprehend.I am still trying other methods to get my 16H performing as the Bosch 960 water wizard did or change to instantaneous units in the shower, kitchen and laundry which will give me satisfaction.
I am unsure about LPG as I have never used them but the overhead tank may work, but after a certain time the tank may leak and cause water damage if installed in the house cavities.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Esmond

Thanks for the reply I'll work on it. In the end I think I'll probably replace it.
