Serie 6 WVG28420AU (8kg/4.5kg)

I received my new WVG28420AU last week the day before lock down. Plumber installed it - so excited turned it on - all good, left it for awhile everything seemed fine. Went outside and heard this massive noise went running in to find it had cracked my tiles, gauged the wall and had almost pulled itself from the plumbing and wall. I need a solution - we are in lock down and I need to know what to do to rectify this.

Hi Jenny,
Thanks for the question regarding the Bosch range.
unfortunately we don't have information on the WAW28490 as it is not distributed here in Australia and the other one is not a valid model. You can always go to https://www.bosch-home.com.au/productlist/washers-dryers/washing-machines/front-load-washing-machines and check the "Add to product compare" box and check the differences.

Hi Sher,
Thanks for the question regarding the Bosch WVH28490AU.
The cottons Eco wash cycle (max 8kg) is approximately 4.5 hours although there are cycles with the speed perfect option that can be as quick as 30-40 minutes. The drying cycles (max 4kg) can take anywhere from 2 hours, depending on the size of the load and the desired state of dryness.

Hi, just got one of these and was wondering about the appearance of the door- it has silver rim with a clear plastic window. On the window is the word 'exclusiv' written in silver and a logo stamped into the clear plastic. I know it sounds silly but I can't figure out whether or not this is a 'display' door and removable or if the front of this machine is just plastic for some reason. If it is removable, how do I do it? Thanks!

Jeff,

Hi, up until a couple of months ago our washer dryer was working fine washing and drying. Now suddenly it has stopped drying properly for no apparent reason. It will sometimes work as per normal, then suddenly it will only half dry things or not dry them at all, even though it appears to be doing the drying mode. It will and does suddenly loose up to an hour or more of time off the timer while you are watching it. We have seen it go from 2.5hrs drying time and at the blink of an eye change to 15 minutes with sopping wet clothes in the machine. Would you be able to suggest a reason or has to motherboard got a problem.

Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ellie,

Sorry, no can’t help you. Our machine has pretty much given up the ghost. It will sometimes work but most times now will not dry. Due to my wife and I living so far from a Bosch repair agent it was going to cost to much to get it to repairman and no guarantee it would fix problems, so now don’t rely on the dryer side and usually put it through the cycle in the hope it will work while we sleep but then usually have to hang out clothes to dry next morning. We also now have spinning out of some washing problems. This is our second machine which was a replacement for our first machine which had similar problems starting at about 14mths ended up getting 18months when Bosch replaced it because they couldn’t get someone to repair it, this one made it to 22mths. As we are both on the pension are finding it hard to save for a new machine, so use it to wash and hope it will spin out and sometimes dry. Have read other peoples reports having the same problems, only to spend hundreds of dollars getting them fixed only to get machines back and still have the same faults. I believe all those that did get their machines repair had all their problems well within the warranty period, and had troubles getting machines fixed on warranty. Our machines worked absolutely brilliant when new up to 14 - 18mths first machine, 22mths this 2nd machine and bang it went, from working brilliantly to crap. Contacted Bosch Australia with regards to warranty only to be told I had to find someone myself to have a look at the problem. This turned out to be a major process. Turned out the guy we found was a bit of a scammer, told me and gave me a report blaming mother board, had a look charged $99 then wouldn’t do repairs. Bosch were at that stage prepared to pay for repairs. Contacted Bosch again, then they wanted a copy of the original invoice for first machine, which was purchased nearly 4yrs before, apparently they had deleted the original purchase warranty from their system, in the mean time we had to shift house and misplaced it so gave up getting anything done about it. Sorry can’t help you Ellie. So much for Bosch machines. Your question is the first I have had from this site and it has also come up with a response from Bosch dated 9mths ago of which I have never seen before. May have to contact them again and see what they come up with. Cheers Jeff

Bosch Home Appliances
Bosch H.Bosch Home Appliances

Hi Julie,
Thanks for the question regarding your Bosch WVH28490AU washer dryer.
Please refer to your manual page 24-25.
The clock symbol on your display panel delays the finish time (end of programme).
Before the programme starts, the end of the programme can be preselected in hourly increments up to a maximum of 24h. This will delay the start time once end time is entered.
When the programme has started, the preselected time is displayed e.g. 8:00h and counts down until the programme starts. Then the programme duration is displayed, e.g. 2:30h

I want to install this washer dryer under a bench and between two fixed cupboards, but i see that the machine has a hot air outlet at the back. Can i install it in this situation? How much ventilation space do i need to allow for the hot air that comes out of the back of the machine?

The best thing to do is to google the manual. Here i an excerpt for you. Ventilate the installation area well,
otherwise the optimum drying results
will not be achieved. Dimensions of
the ventilation openings (to be
provided on one side, depending on
the circumstances). Opening crosssection:
d x e = 200 mm x 100 mm.
Height above floor: f = 365 mm.
Distance between wall and
appliance: 50 mm

Thank you, i read that as well. I was hoping to get an answer/comment from Bosch Home Appliances as i see they have responded to many of the other questions on this page. I don't know how the dryer function works. Does it pump hot moist air out of the back of the machine, or is the moisture pumped out through the drain hose?

Bosch Home Appliances
Bosch H.Bosch Home Appliances

Hi Bruce, Thanks for your question regarding your Bosch WVH28490AU dryer. We'd recommend a minimum cut out of 200 mm x 100 mm on one side only of your cabinetry, as per the diagram on page 38 of your instruction manual. Please ensure you allow a distance of 50mm between the wall and appliance to allow for sufficient ventilation. If you need any more help, feel free to contact us on 1300 369 744.

I have a 10 year old 6kg BOSCH Chinese made washing machine. As far as washing goes, it’s been faultless, but it is extremely noisy during wash and even more so during spinning on 12rpm. It’s so loud that you have to cover your ears if the laundry door is not closed and there’s no way we can run it at night time. Would you consider this machine to be noticeably loud at any point in the cycle?

We have it in a Euro laundry in our lounge room (sits on the floor) and it is super quiet!!
I even bought some of those absorption pads but the installation guy said they aren’t good to use with this. Don’t need them anyway!!

Hi Clovellyc,
Thanks for your question regarding your washing machine. Generally a washing machine will gradually get louder during the spin cycle.
However a noisy washer can also indicate something as simple as an unbalanced machine. If you are having any concerns about your appliance

I'm going to ask this again, as Bosch didn't provide a relevant response before... The end-of cycle signal noise is loud and repetitive. Is there a way to have it sound once instead of repeating? Can you change the volume? The instruction booklet is of no help. Thanks

Um, I'm sorry if it wasn't clear... I thought it was obvious from what I had written but, as per my original question, when I said 'the instruction booklet is of no help', I meant that I had looked at it and following the directions didn't work. On mine, I still can't change the volume following those instructions - maybe my machine is faulty or maybe the instructions are wrong... I'm not sure. I was looking for actual instructions on how to change it. The booklet was obviously the first place I looked.

Hi Bill, thanks for your question. This model does have a Finish in time function. First select the cycle that you wish to use, then press the start in button (clock icon left of display) this will increase the time shown for the cycle, keep pressing until desired time is reached and then press start. You can delay the cycle for anywhere up to 24 hours. If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us on 1300 369 744 to discuss.
